Lightweight client mode is called Simplified Payment Verification (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Thin_Client_Security#Simplified_Payment_Verification_.28SPV.29) (SPV) mode. It was never completed by Satoshi, nor anyone since. It is a bit lower priority, with bitcoinj and other clients supporting SPV mode. |
