The Govt. Realized Bitcoin Could Not Be Shut down, Says U.S. Federal Prosecutor

In an almost hour long interview, Kathryn Haun, Assistant Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice in San Francisco and lecturer on digital currencies at Stanford Law School, who prosecuted her own colleagues, Shaun Bridges, a former Secret Services agent and Carl Mark Force, a DEA agent, for public corruption in an investigation arising from Silk Road, the infamous drug bazaar shut down in 2013, stated that  the reason United States government did not shut down bitcoin is because they “recognize you can’t shut down bitcoin.”

Around here they won't be able to shut it down.  Where they exert control is making it very difficult to ACQUIRE coins.  Well connected users can always get coins, but newbie's starting out could face big obstacles.

The scary part of this is, that they even considered it. We all know most new technologies are exploited by criminals in some way, so this is not

new to Bitcoin. Unfortunately Bitcoin have been put in the spotlight, because it is such a disruptive technology for governments and financial

institutions, for example : Banks and Remittance services. So the smallest thing will be blown out of proportion by the shills working for these

entities and the misinformation will spread to the public.  :o

yep. all you'd need to stifle it permanently is shut down the on and off ramps for usd. no exchanges, no payment processors, no coinbases, circles or localbitcoins traders unless they're very sneaky.

bitcoin won't be shut down. it also won't be of any use to most people any more.

Better late than ever as they say. I mean there's a way to shut down bitcoin for good: they have to start with Internet first. Good luck with that.
This is good news, hold onto your Bitcoins  ;)

Impressive, they are not that dumb after all! I would pay a lot to see them trying and failing just like they did it to the pirate bay. Fucktards. In order to shut bitcoin down, you need to shut the internet down. Or make a law about bitcoin and execute everyone who use it. That can be also very effective. (at least for a short time)

The reason the government can not shut down bitcoin is because bitcoin is not limited to the U.S only and they probably don't want China having the upper hand.

"the reason United States government did not shut down bitcoin is because they “recognize you can’t shut down bitcoin.”

this means they tried to shut it down unsuccessfully
so much for support, states want to have fingers in every pie
