Title: Are we allowed to post advertisements within our posts? (Not signature)
Post by: Chris! on November 02, 2016, 04:10:25 PM
I just checked out Mitchell's Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Ad-Campaigns (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0;topicseen)  and there's an advertisement in the OP. I didn't know we were able to do this. Is there a rule where you can only add it in the OP or what are the rules exactly?

I've seen people trying to advertise outside of the signature and get in trouble for it (girlbtc.com) so just looking for some clarification.

TL;DR Basically what it comes down to is if I have a post that is seen by lots of people am I allowed to show an advertisement in the OP? Thanks.

No, not unless you get special permission from theymos (which he did). It's also only allowed in threads that are considered 'substantial' or helpful (or something along those lines).

I figured it was because he was doing something helpful for the community and not just because he thought there were a lot of people posting so why not take advantage of it.

Thanks.
