Title: Get more than double the Bitcoin value in coupons, using bitcoins.
Post by: BADecker on November 07, 2016, 12:29:36 PM
Look here https://localbitcoins.com/sell-bitcoins-online/usd/ at LocalBitcoins. Can you really get more than double the face value of some gift cards and coupons? Some of these sellers are listing/selling Home Depot gift card codes at as much as about 40% off for your bitcoins. Is this for real?

Yes it is for real, albeit at your own risk. A lot of these gift cards were probably purchased via credit card fraud. So you can run into serious problems if you haven't verified that the cards you obtained come from a non-criminal source.

There is a secondary market for gift cards and coupons though. However I think the rebates are generally significantly lower than 40% (more like 5-20%).

It's sad that scammers are destroying trust in the secondary gift card market, which otherwise would be a really really good thing. However the way things are, I would be extremely wary purchasing gift cards from any unknown third party.

ya.ya.yo!

Most of those coupon must be bought through stolen credit cards and buying gift cards of higher amount may directly make you suspected as one of the hacker of those credit card. Most of the credit card transaction and gift card purchase can be tracked so i think better not to get greed for double price. Better not to get knock in your door from local authority if case get filed.

Yes the prices are real but there is a reason those rates are in place since no honest person would accept losing that much money to exchange their gift cards for bitcoin.

Ive never noticed that before, IM sure there are some legitimate coupons that may have been unwanted gifts and people are now attempting to exchange them for bitcoins but its more than likely that a good amount are bought fraudulently. A bit too risky for me.

Too good to be true, so is better to stay far away from those offers. Imagine you have one card, and you go out making Christmas gifts for the people you love. Then you have a police officer that arrest you asking you where the card is coming from!

Too scary for me ;)

Most likely they've been obtained through fraud, like other have already mentioned before.
But why doesn't LBC take some action against these sellers, I would think it's also illegal for them to act as a platform through which stolen or illegal goods are sold?
