Title: Thanks for selling my data Post by: Forexperiments on November 11, 2016, 03:28:16 PM Dear bitcointalk,
thanks for selling my data to scammers I got carding spam to an email I opened and using only here If you didn't sell it, thanks for not patching your forum and let my data be leaked Title: Re: Thanks for selling my data Post by: minifrij on November 11, 2016, 03:31:13 PM BitcoinTalk got hacked late last year which caused information (such as emails and password hashes) to be leaked into the public.
BitcoinTalk didn't sell your data. Title: Re: Thanks for selling my data Post by: issie81 on November 11, 2016, 03:32:59 PM removed UPDATE: the above message was not from me who the fuck hacked my account? i think there is a mayor security breach! Title: Re: Thanks for selling my data Post by: Quickseller on November 11, 2016, 06:31:21 PM As much as I like and support coinbase, I think the chances are better that you are receiving carding emails because of your coinbase account.
I have not received any carding related emails to any of my email addresses associated with any of my bitcointalk accounts. I have received many email solicitations to what appears to be offers associated with carding (or is outright scams) to the email address that is associated with my coinbase account. Such email address has never had anything remotely associated with any carding related websites/ect. Title: Re: Thanks for selling my data Post by: gentlemand on November 11, 2016, 10:52:11 PM Yup. I'm getting all sorts of weirdo bitcoin carding related emails too. So be it. It's clearly from the hack back in the day.
It's a junk email address anyway but it's so offensive that I won't be able to open another of a similar ilk so I'll be rather sad if it has to be retired. I dont, in fact the only spam I get is from BTC servics that I signed up for and didnt bother to uncheck the "get info by mail" box. Actually this situation is very common on which there are lots of carding emails and you really dont know whats the f*ckin happening. I do recieve that kind of email from blockchain which directly puts up into my inbox and not on the spam folder it somehow questions my mind if this legit one or not but i detected already that it is a scam attempt if you are thinking for easy money for sure you would fall into these kind of traps. guess the btalk email database is available for sale somewhere :( lesson learned- use different emails when subscribing to forums or boards Title: Re: Thanks for selling my data Post by: gkv9 on November 16, 2016, 12:15:05 PM same here: carding emails, had to mark them through filters guess the btalk email database is available for sale somewhere :( lesson learned- use different emails when subscribing to forums or boards Check (tor) dark markets and you will see some users claiming to have the database of bitcointalk users after that hack happened... It's not easy for admins or moderators to fight such a big database hack after which members have come up hard on them asking for their accounts to be reinstated... Title: Re: Thanks for selling my data Post by: unamis76 on November 16, 2016, 01:30:54 PM This comes up quite often and it is weird that some people receive bad emails and others don't. I can say I have never received phishing or carding emails on my bitcointalk email...
