Difficulty 7,673,000 Next Difficulty 7,668,140 ??? Looking at the charts I tend to believe bitcoinwatch Title: Re: [7,673,000] Difficulty Discussion Thread [TRENDING (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻] Post by: Tehfiend on April 05, 2013, 07:09:18 PM 16041184.24557205 is next. :/ Ignore. The predicted difficulty is extremely inaccurate immediately after it increases since it only has a few blocks to estimate with. Title: Re: [7,673,000] Difficulty Discussion Thread [TRENDING (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻] Post by: tempt on April 05, 2013, 07:25:52 PM one question regarding difficulty, if the hashrate stays 50th during the whole 2000blocks, does it increase? if yes, how much?
Title: Re: [7,673,000] Difficulty Discussion Thread [TRENDING (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻] Post by: martynw2000 on April 05, 2013, 07:34:59 PM From what I understand - if the hash rate is exactly the same in 2000 blocks time, then the difficulty remains the same. If the hash rate goes up by 5%, then the difficulty goes up by 5% as well... so it would be 8,056,650. In the same way it could go down.
If the hashing rate goes up for the next 1000 blocks and then falls back down to the same rate as today, then the difficulty stay the same. It's dependant on the hashing rate at the exact time we reach then next 2000 or so blocks. I *think* that's right. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.... Although it's 2016 blocks. And luck also figures in the equation. Only "how much time passed since last change" affects new difficulty change. Everyone starts hashing half the time around every 2000th block.. ;D

Everyone starts hashing half the time around every 2000th block.. ;D Bitcoin is much smarter than that ;). Difficulty is based on how long the last 2016 blocks took to generate which is supposed to take 2 weeks. For example If it takes 1 week then difficulty will be doubled. If it takes 4 weeks, then difficulty will be halved. |
