Title: Casascius coin question
Post by: opsd1 on April 06, 2013, 01:53:44 AM
Hi. I bought some Casascius coins recently and the seller stated after the purchase that the coins come from the maker 'unfunded'. They are only funded after he confirms receipt. Because of high insurance shipping costs now, he wanted to send them to me 'unfunded' and then fund them once I got them. Does this make any sense? I cancelled my order.

Ordering direct from Casascius ?

That is how Casascius sells his coins now. He is a long-time member of the Bitcoin community and is legitimate and trustworthy.

On the other hand, if you did not order directly from Casascius, then your suspicion may be valid, since Casascius coins sold by anyone else would already be funded.

sounds dodgy if not from Casascius directly... I didn't order mine from Casascius directly but the seller did send me the details of the funded wallet before I received the coins so I could check the blockchain to see there was already 1 btc in each one. A trusted re-seller on here for low volume is MOLECULAR
