LTC, ETH, XMR, XRP and DASH, maybe. Btw, this isn't tech discussion. This should maybe go on Off-topic or Altcoins...

top in what sense?
there are so many different factors that you can compare cryptocurrencies.

- market cap? check www.coinmarketcap.com to see the list
- price? again check above site or any exchange for that matter.
- ability to make profit? all of the altcoins can potentially be that if they are not dead. they can get pumped.
- technology? opinions are different in this matter. i say only XMR and that is of course after bitcoin.

Coinmarket and coingecko are the best judge to your question this is to avoid hyping and pumping from other crypto currency, some will say this and that but if you check that on coinmarketcap and coingecko, they are nowhere on the top 50 ..

https://coinmarketcap.com/

that's the best way to measure how "big" is a coin, at least in numbers.
if you're talking about potential, well, then that's up to you. i could say to you my opinion but it would be just my opinion... others would probably disagree.

Only Litecoin is worth mentioning after Bitcoin, all the others are not needed.

For me top 5 cryptocurrencies best to invest with after bitcoins
are: eth, xaur, ltc, xmr, vta. These are the coins are worth to
invest your bitcoin. But before your plans to invest with, you
need to consider to verify what matters most is checking the
capability of an altcoin. Checking in marke cap,  market if the
coins is active in the market and the demands of the supply.
Those are needed to verify before investing first.

The great coin are XAU because I've heard if XAU already does first dividend payment for his investors. I agree about both of ETH and XMR but what makes ltc interesting for you? I don't ever see anything on there. And vta is unfamiliar in my ears.

First, XAU is dead... now it's called XAUR.
second, there's no dividend... it's just a gold backed crypto.

PS: imo XAUR is a good investment. I'm just correcting the wrong information.

after bitcoin what are other 5 top crypto currencies in the market ?

You need not ask here, because you will spam from people who invested on certain coin, the best parameter is coinmarketcap and coingecko and also ccheck volume on various exchanges.

i agree with not asking here and looking for yourself to find the answer to that question out yourself but i can not agree on the coinmarketcap thing because it is not a good thing to look at for measuring altcoins against each other because it opens up a big room for error. the only things to look at is the volume and not just the past 24 hour but the volume over a longer period of time like past weeks or months at least.

I agree as I always check the coin status there especially the coinmarketcap. You can check also the volume traded. Those top coins are quite stable to invest and having hundred of millions of market capitalization.

marketcap helps with volume, and volume it's a very important measure in a coin.
There's no point in holding a coin you can't sell without breaking the market... it's like most of the coins at yobit.
1000% pump every day, yet, there's no liquidity... you cant sell more than a few satoshis without bringing the price back to 1 sat.
