The team with the vehicle-based financing of Ethereum-now infamous known as DAO fact have grouped and, in a blog post published today, CTO Slock.it Christoph Jentzsch announced a new open source initiative called Charity DAO.

Charity DAO, by contrast, focuses on more transparent charitable functions, and if everything works as expected, to waive the growing willingness of donors
I want to see a truly decentralized autonomous organization built on top of the Ethereum and charity OAC is a great application for many reasons.

The only crypto currency that is charity and donation based is Coexist,but since this is based in Ethereum I'd like to see how this project evolve .

Hope this time they will do serious code review before launching anything and also may prioritize security rather than just getting excited with the success of crowdfunding like before. Hope there will be not another DAO disaster, it may be hard for them to get same level of trust again.

I very sure some people are still after these guys, it is good to come out better from failure but I would have preferred a new concept apart from DAO

It will be difficult to regain investor confidence after the last DAO. They also need to clarify how they are going to avoid the flaws of the other project. In addition, there are problems in the Ethereum network itself, causing a series of hardforks.

That was sure to happen. They're talented and just did a little mistake. I'm happy to see coming then back to entertain us a bit more ;D !

Honestly, the way slock.it handled such large sums of money made history. It proved once and forever why DAOs will never be an alternative to actual organizations or contracts and inspite of all the security thresholds outside of the DAO infrastructure, their DAO managed to spill the Ethereum worth hundreds of millions in the hands of malicious hackers. I liked how slock.it chose to address the result of this disaster, all smiles from the basement of someone's mum (https://youtu.be/GvgTivwzcuo?t=94). Who would trust those people again, with anything? 

As an original DAO investor I'd look to invest in this new DAO too.

So is all that money that was hacked stilled "trapped" somewhere or did it get released?

Is this a relaunching of he said coin or tottaly new and tey are having a buy back or swap? Wing Dao is another coin based on dao? I am confused with this coin. I only trade this coin once during their launch.

I don't know if the DAO devs made any profit from their first DAO. Judging by how eager they are to create a new DAO they probably made money from the first one. They should have used it to compensate those who lost from the hack, but they probably kept it for themselves.

Slock.it...lol. Just make sure it gets enough coins to warrant a fork again when something goes wrong. ETH network always has something broken on it...

The rebrand of DAO, DAO has had a lot of roots. Digix DAO, Wings DAO etc.... They may always see about the potentially of this way.
Even the DAO fork was making some for them.

Just took a look at this blog post (https://blog.daohub.org/charity-dao-2866758669a4#.b2btxp5v3) and stopped reading right after the first sentence, which says: "$373.25 billion was given to charitable organizations in 2015 (2.1% of the world’s GDP).". FAIL! World's GDP is about USD $73-75 trillion, so if we assume that these numbers are correct, then these donations should be about 0,5% of the world's GDP. That's a huge miscalculation!

who cares ? as long as there is at least one sucker alive the scammer can survive.

Their miscalculation of the % of the world's GDP is outrageous, because we are talking about trillions of $ and all you need is a simple math (divide ~$75 Trillion to $373 Billion). You can wonder what might happen in the code.......... The last DAO has shrunk the market cap of cryptocurrencies with some ~$2,5 Billion in one week.

The DAO happened b/c of the media, slock.it articles rejected due to lack of technical substance were pushed through to satisfy advertisers.

The DAO is/was a great concept and it will be interesting to see what they come up with and how they can improve upon, hopefully fixing security issues.

So DAO brothers dont have a clue about worlds charitable ratings and how theyre calculated. Good start. Those guys should be banned inside ur brains, so u would not remember who built The DAO or what their names were. The pre-august state of ethereum and cryptospace should be weeded out of our memories.
