Title: Alt-coin mining with RX 480 8GB
Post by: Benzh on November 19, 2016, 04:39:25 PM
Got a new GPU the other day and have decided to start mining again. Last time was with the release of that Dogecoin and few after it.
Is it still possible to profit by mining with only one GPU? I currently have the RX 480 8GB version. Trying out mining Ethereum right now.
The CMD is showing between 20 & 25MH/s. With that sort of rate is it worth the time?

Perhaps I should look at other coins, any you can recommend?

Cheers
Ben

Yes it is still possible to make money using only one 480 RX card.

Currently the most profitable would be to mine ZCash using Claymore's ZCash Miner v7.
You will average atleast 160/sols with that card.
Depending upon your electricity rate you would be making anywhere from 0.70 USD to 1.30 USD per day.

hmmm 20-25 is kinda low for RX 480 on eth. I suggest you overclock or mod bios. You should be able to get about 29 Mh/s . About Zcash, i would stay away now. Price is constantly dropping so it will be hard to sell, just stick with Ethereum. Since you mine with only one card i guess you are mining with your regular PC. You are going to hit ROI for that card eventually . If you built miner with one card... Meh it wont be too profitable
