Title: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: nextgencoin on November 20, 2016, 07:14:29 AM Decentralisation isn't some cool idea its now a necessary tech we need for free speech to continue in the west. Twitter and Google are showing how they can clamp down on dissent even in their own countries.
What are our current options? Synero? ZCash? Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: Fortify on November 20, 2016, 08:33:38 AM Err.. Bitcoin brought about the whole "decentralisation" idea. It is vulnerable to a 51% attack but I don't think any alternative currency has found a way around that and it's usually best to stick with the biggest player in the market. Maybe you could explain why you think Synero and ZCash are better options?
Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: panju1 on November 20, 2016, 08:40:04 AM Decentralization as in larger block size would lead to centralization?
Bitcoin, in its current avatar, is pretty decentralized. As for free speech, you have the internet and dark web. Google and Twitter may be centralized organizations, but the internet isn't. Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: goldcoinminer on November 20, 2016, 01:13:54 PM Why still look for other kind of coins, are you not seeing it with bitcoin. By looking for a decentralization, it's not only the concept or platforms that matters but the stability as well and only bitcoin has a good economy now and it's progressive.
Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: freedomgo on November 22, 2016, 07:59:13 AM No other crypto currency can beat the benefits of using bitcoin, it's its platform so we can use it as it is more trusted than the others.
Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: TastyChillySauce00 on November 22, 2016, 11:05:06 AM bitcoin just already have the decentralisation system and as you said that you need it,then you got it because you're now on the right forum
so i encourage to use bitcoin and choose it No other crypto currency can beat the benefits of using bitcoin, it's its platform so we can use it as it is more trusted than the others. you can't know whether another coins could take over bitcoin's place or not and can't predict it but for now it's indeed that bitcoin is the best option around by its popularity and its usabilityTitle: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: iamTom123 on November 22, 2016, 11:27:23 AM Yes, of course, as of now we are enjoying the decentralization benefits as accorded by Bitcoin and other cryptocurencies. However, nothing is perfect in this world and anything we thought can be fool-proof may not be 100% as it should be when exposed against the barrage of human nature. I am sure that this whole thing is also evolving so we can expect more improvements and innovations along the way.
Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: tabas on November 22, 2016, 10:54:47 PM I don't even think that some other projects or alt coins will replace bitcoin. And for the decentralization idea, it came all from bitcoin. Why not just stay in bitcoin and just use those alt coins for trading or if you want to you can also hold it if you believe they will be as the same as bitcoin. For bitcoin is not even on your choice.
Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: Yakamoto on November 22, 2016, 11:51:31 PM We need increased decentralization, probably, however changing out the currency being used completely isn't a useful course of action. You have to find ways to fix the issue you're experiencing before you completely toss whatever it is you have available to you away.
What is it that you feel we need to decentralize more? Mining? Development? There has to be more than "we just need more". Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Twitter and Google are showing how they can clamp down on dissent even in their own countries. What are our current options? Synero? ZCash? Bitcoin? As long as the Andresen/Hearn/Ver does not succeed with their disinformation campaign in convincing miners to support excessive block sizes, Bitcoin remains highly decentralized. I think you are conceptually mixing decentralization and free speech/privacy. Bitcoin is primarily a currency, not a communication platform (although it can be and has been used for this purpose as well). There are several other decentralized networks under development which are better suited for this purpose, such as MaidSafe/Mega (both supporting Bitcoin in one way or another). I agree that Bitcoin's privacy must be improved in the medium / long term to remain resilient against attacks by the elites in charge. Blockchain analysis, blacklisting coins and other coercive KYC/AML despotism could become a serious threat for Bitcoin's fungibility and might undermine its use. ya.ya.yo! Zcash is just bitcoin reskin with added advanced privacy features and fancy algorithms which prevents usage of ASICs to mine the coin. Nothing more and nothing groundbreaking. Why almost everyone identify anonymous coins such as Monero, Komodo, Dash, Zcash, Zerocoin, VCash or ShadowCoin with decentralization and expect that this will be cure for everything? Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: xdrpx on November 23, 2016, 05:36:17 AM I'm sure several other altcoins play a major role in support of a decentralized currency, but I'm in favor of Bitcoin. A decentralized currency should be de-monopolised and free from any Government control, however, it's not always possible as Governments of certain nations can regulate and control as well as ask Personal KYC information of users to tax Bitcoin purchases and sales as Income tax.
Bitcoin has privacy if learned to use without linking your personal details to the purchases you've made. Make purchases to an official address for delivery. Also, keep in mind that decentralization is only good as long as people don't come up with an agenda to make it available to only a particular group and hold control in that group. Twitter and Google are showing how they can clamp down on dissent even in their own countries. What are our current options? Synero? ZCash? the option is obviously only bitcoin! only a fool thinks altcoins are decentralized, specially those that have been getting pump and dumps and some of those which had a huge premine, ICO ,... other ways to take the control of 80-90% of the available coins. and only a pumper will name altcoins as good and without centralization and manipulation to hype the coins for a temporary pump before moving on to the next. if bitcoin was centralized it had already forked like other coins e.g ETH which had 4 hard forks already!!! it is the decentralization of bitcoin that doesn't allow an easy big change! I am sure that this whole thing is also evolving so we can expect more improvements and innovations along the way. Successful decentralization is closely related to observing the design principles of: finance following functions; informed decision making; adherence to local priorities; and accountability. However, applying these principles in practice has not proven to be simple. Country circumstances differ, often in subtle and complex ways, consequently the policy and institutional instruments that establish decentralization have to be shaped to the specific conditions of individual countries. Title: Re: We need decentralisation and we need it now. Post by: kanazawa on November 23, 2016, 03:12:47 PM What you mean? The Bitcoin network is already very descentralized, like never happened (not even close) in a matter that five years ago I can't even predict something like that and now there are so many ideas and so much people and companies putting ideas to roll that's unbelievable.... It's a lot of fuel to Bitcoin fire. Take a look into the charts showing the nodes the system has and (if you can) where it's placed. The descentralization is fully working and each day passed a new "somewhere" embraces the cause.
