Title: Deepbit Down?
Post by: BinaryMage on June 14, 2011, 04:19:20 PM
I can't access Deepbit right now. (And my internet works, I tested it)

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Did they get DDOSed again?  :-[

Goddamnit. Every pool is crapping out in the last 48 hours.
First slush, guild and now deepbit. Even the bitcoin.org forum slows down now and then.

Got to try new ones like Eligius and Eclipse for now.

Looks like it's back up now. I'm pretty sure it did go down though, but not for too long, fortunately.

Try smaller pools.
As long as they can crank out a block every 24 hrs, you'll get your fix.
You'll even make more BTC because your miners aren't dropping all the time.
Smaller pools also give you bigger "chunks" of bitcoins so you pay less to send you bitcoins later down the road.
Variance is a factor with smaller pools, but over a week or more time period it doesn't practically matter.

Stability + Larger Payments = profit

I mine at BitClockers.com (http://BitClockers.com) There are a plethora of other pools out there as well.

Already answered in our thread.
Our traffic is being filtered through antiddos proxy, causing problems for many clients. We are working on this issue.

Oh, sorry. Next time your site and service goes down I'll make sure to ask about it in a location where it's less visible...  ::)

Backburn, that's cheeky and somewhat lacking in truth. The only difference between large and small pools is that at small pools there's more variance. Larger payments come less frequently, so your equation reduces to:

Stability  = profit

And stability is the important factor. Once difficulty increases sufficiently, DDOS won't be a problem.

I mine at BitClockers.com (http://BitClockers.com)...

Of course you do. Where else would a pool op mine, if not his own pool? Very cheeky, backburn. Very cheeky.

Btw, thought about telling us exactly what you were doing to your stats before you became PPS? I'm still very keen to know. I want closure. I could sue for mental anguish, you know ;)
