Title: BFL high power requirements - designed to specification
Post by: Fruitoshi Snaka-moto on April 06, 2013, 02:33:25 PM
Much hullabaloo has been made of BFL ASIC's idle power draw of 40W.

However, if you recall in the original specifications the BFL Jalapeņo was required to be a USB powered coffee warmer.

The original power requirements were insufficient for this application so a resistive heating element was added to the chip package. Now, after 6 months of design and repackaging BFL customers will have the world's first combined coffee warmer/bitcoin hasher.
