Title: Create new user on mac in order to have a secure wallet- does it makes sense? Post by: neotenie on April 06, 2013, 10:57:15 PM Hi dear people,
a friend of me told me that making a new user on my computer, which would be used only to be a place for a bitcoin client and a new wallet, could be a way to have a secure wallet. He works on Linux, but I'm on a mac, so it is not the same security systems. So, if you have another user on a mac (fresh one) does the possible viruses on the main account affect the other user? I tried the option with Ubuntu but didn't understand it, so for now I gave up. That's why I'm looking for another method. What do you think? Thanks, Neo Title: Re: Create new user on mac in order to have a secure wallet- does it makes sense? Post by: maxmint on April 06, 2013, 11:04:06 PM This does not make it really secure. There can still be Trojans and / or Keyloggers on your system, even if you created a new user.

Maybe you can help me there: I downloaded Ubuntu and burn it on a rewritable DVD When I started from the DVD, I'll be asked if I wanted to install the system or try it from the DVD. As I was not sure, I chose try from DVD. When the system was loaded, I tried to copy a text document from my main disk to see if it would be able to write it on the DVD (rewritable) it was refused. Then I tried to copy the small test file on a external hard disk and it was refused too. I felt really unsecured so I closed the system. Did I missed something or how is this suppose to work? Thanks!
