Post by: rancidgash on November 24, 2016, 10:23:52 AM
I know that google can find me a lot of VPN services with Bitcoin payment, but i want also hear your opinion.

I never use VPN so i'm not sure what is most important: speed, volatility of IP.. yeah - what?

And what is avarage price that i should pay for good VPN service?

https://privateinternetaccess.com/

I can recommend you Private Internet Access. This VPN accepts Bitcoins. I recommended it before to my boss in my previous company in order to provide remote accountants a US IP for accessing bank accounts of the company's clients. So far, the feedback of my previous company on this VPN is great and reliable. I first learned about this VPN on Lifehacker and ThePiratebay forums.

Don't forget to leave me some tip on my tip jar if you found my insights helpful to you.

In addition to the VPN's reliabiity, the VPN's client software has a feature that disconnects the Internet connectivity whenever the VPN gets disconnected for whatever reason, preventing the user's original IP address from being revealed unintentionally.

Thank you very much for link to that thread - for sure i will find something there!

volatility - yes, availability - but i want to know if i can change IP every time when i want.. Let say with just "one click"? Or i have to restart my connection or laptop or i don't know.. Or i can use only one IP from one VPN?  ::)

Do anyone use https://www.ipvanish.com?

price is - $77.99 per year (->$6.49/month) and till now i found only good opinions..

One more question:

I just want hide my IP. And everytime when i want, i want to be visible on some website with different IP.

I'm afraid that proxy apps are too weak.

When i use VPN - Do website administrator can see that i'm using fake IP? (I think that if i will use proxy, every admin can see that)

VPN will help you to mask your original IP address and your new/fake IP address only will be visible to the websites you will be visiting. To have different IP address, you must re-start your VPN session. Still, some services may give same IP for all of your sessions, in that case you may need to manually switch to new IP address.

When i use VPN - Do website administrator can see that i'm using fake IP? (I think that if i will use proxy, every admin can see that)
Yes, website administrators are capable of detecting whether you are visiting with native IP or with masked IP. Proxy checker bots will do this job.

AirVPN is a great services with a lot of features and take privacy quite seriously, take a look at their services and what they offer, I strongly recommend them, also they are having a "black friday" offer running right now offering 35% off.

You can also take a look at their forum on the "Other VPNs" category , where people discuss freely about other services, really nice reviews over there.

When you choose longer contracts, you will pay less.

Average price for monthly plans would be $10. When you are choosing yearly plans, effective monthly price will come down to around $4 (still you may need to pay ~$50 for 12 months as one single payment).

I remember PureVPN had 2 years plan (not sure still available) with effective prices less than $2 for a month.

EarthVPN is one of them. And they are very cheap.
I think I paid $1.99 for a month of service. If I was to take more on the length of use then it would be lower per month.
If you don't pay after they send you a notice of payment is due then they just cut off your account and then the emails stop after a day. So you are not really obligated to do anything after your signup contract is up with them.

I've used (and continue to use) this vpn service: http://nvpn.net/

It's pretty cheap, and I know a way to get it very cheap. Helps out in the long run especially because I don't end up busting a lot of money on a vpn in a year. Good luck with your search OP! The other vpns mentioned on this thread are all very popular and are great vpns too.

I second Private Internet Access, great VPN provider.  A bit pricey though.  Also, please try not to ask for tips directly on your post.  Having it in your signature is enough.

they have Black Friday offer 3 years for 1.82$ per month, which is roughly 69$ for 3 years of top vpn service
accept bitcoins, have 7 days moneyback guarantee too so I think its worth a try

Greg's comment is very true, however depending on your use, you should be fine. If you want a VPN just to mask your internet browsing and stay secure, or even create multiple accounts from different IP's, you should be fine, but if you want to mask your IP for illegal purposes, you can be found out.

It really only depends if the web admins care, in most cases they won't know unless they investigate.

OP, you can also try out www.ironsocket.com.

Again thank you all for your advice!

I want to, say that I don't need VPN to any criminal activity. I care only to protect myself.

So far I collected this 7 services:
                                                     month/year
1. https://nordvpn.com/                    $11.95/69.00
2. https://www.ipvanish.com               $7.50/58.49
3. www.ironsocket.com                      $6.99/49.95
4. https://privateinternetaccess.com/    $6.95/39.95
5. http://nvpn.net/                             $6.00/40.00
6. https://www.earthvpn.com/             $3.99/39.99
7. http://www.cyberghostvpn.com/        free/15euro/year premium

I thought that since I have no experience with VPN, at the beginning i take something cheap for a month, and then I should know what I want.
But as last position i check http://www.cyberghostvpn.com/   and now they have 70% discount for year - 15 euro.

Do i should take more expensive service for monthly test, or this premium 15e/year?

I know that when something is cheap it is poor quality, but do this difference between these services is really big?

Going directly for yearly plan may disappoint you when you feel any discomfort with their services. Good practice must be testing with least available contract and some providers offer money back guarantee also for testing their service. Start using VPN with free trails, lot of providers offer free trails, just google.

The difference isn't too big between the plans; the main difference between the premium 15e/year and the premium plus is that you can use the premium plus simutaniously between 5 device as opposed to the premium, which only allows one device at a time.

You should be fine with just the premium plan, if you only plan to use cyberghost on one device at a time. Good luck!

This does not need to be true in all the cases. Personally I have used earth VPN, they are damn cheaper with their prices still they maintain high quality services like their software is easy to use and also we can have native drivers to set up any protocol VPN connections with their servers.

Start using VPN with free trails, lot of providers offer free trails, just google.
Thunnelbear offers quality free VPN, OP may start with them.

Well.. I've done a little differently  :D

Since yesterday I tested the free option, which proposes http://www.cyberghostvpn.com/

Maybe if someone uses a VPN only from time to time, it may be useful. However, I must admit that this is not what I'm looking.
After three hours, always terminates the connection and trying connected again. Every time have to wait about 2-3 minutes, and not always connect. Sometimes trying couple of times. It is annoying.

I decided that today I buy a monthly subscription .. I'm not sure where, but probably first will be https://www.earthvpn.com/

To me, it is all about security. And a little bit of speed ;). You should search for HideMyAss. They have over 100k IPs, and accept bitcoin payments. With a bit of luck you could be able to get alot of discount aswell, buying for longer periods etc. 5-10$ Per month is reasonable. Too bad you just missed black friday.

I like this service that i have in trial now - ZenVPN. Standard option per year cost ~$25 (it is with 50% Bitcoin payment) - it is good price, but there is limit 5GB per day. And at the moment it is far too much than I need. But it is the annual subscription and I don't know what can happen in this time.. And i don't like limits :)

I still don't know if there is difference between cheap and expensive service in security. I mean if i need it only for internet surfing and to protect some internet payments. I think there is no difference.. (?)
That's why, now i'm looking only for price, speed, speed of switching server and no limits. (I don't need many servers - if there is more than 15 thats good)

Today i found this offer: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1516346.0

https://zenmate.com/premium/ - Price: 0.004078 BTC [$2.99] - 3 months (promotional code)

I used zenmate under their free trial and I have to say that they are nice because the version I used was the browser based one and was pleased with it. You can try it yourself for 7 days then it ends.
I forgot that these vpns have bandwidth limits so can't say anything about that but the browsing was just like the normal way it always has been even without being under a vpn. Didn't do a speed test though when I was under trial so can not review on that.

As service is ok, but it looks like difference of speed is to big. Still i'm not sure, but probably in next few days i will take something from the more expensive services.

But that is how vpn's are. You will not get the same speed that you would if you were not using one.
It routes traffic to another ip address location.
I think what you are looking for is a vps if you expect it to be the same network speed as if you were sitting infront of a computer across the world using that system.

My question is,
What is the difference between below listed vpns and Hotspotshield
