For me it is not an indicator. Fidel has driven his country into poverty. Cuba is still not all seen the microwave. The sooner these people die is better to live in the country which they are headed.I don't feel bad.

First, communist party is still in the power in Cuba.
His brother, Raul, is still leader in the country.
His legacy in Cuba is still very strong and people in Cuba are brainwashed to believe that America is their enemy and China and Russia friends.
I don't think that Cuba will be free so soon.

The best medicine in the United States and Israel. Cuba is not even close to is in this list. You probably have something confused. Cuba one of the poorest countries in the world.

Cubans who live on the island are slaves. And as expected they are slaves crying over the death of his master. Cubans who live in America happy because they know the price of freedom.

Cuba has great potential for economic growth. If the United States remove the sanctions and the embargoes, then the situation will improve by quite a bit. Cuba can become a very important tourist destination for the American nationals.

American tourists have been welcomed by Cuba for many years, it was the United States government that prevented direct travel to Cuba. Also, his death does not necessarily mean that the country will no longer be communist. The government will simply elect a new puppet to uphold the status quo.

With the death of Fidel Castro end of an era rooted in the cold war era. And it is now gaining momentum a new round of it. I hope this time the Cubans will not repeat their mistakes.

It's not up to them, Fidels' brother is the president, and I believe they share the same kind of thinking.

Recently his brother Raul Castro runs Cuba. Positive changes are visible. If he will not let people to change course, and now they feel the change and they have something to fight for.

Fidel and Raul are very similar,in fact Raul is more extreme in a lot of aspects when it comes to the Socialist bend.
True change will not come under him either,in fact the changes right now are out of survival with the other Socialist superpowers all falling apart.
Would not dance on Fidels grave but I also do not shed any tears for the man as long as the people suffer for believing in or being forced to believe in a different way of life.

Fidel Castro wasn't such dictator as Kim Jong Un or presidents of few African countries. But he was one of the most important persons in XX century.
Not long time ago Cuba renewed diplomatic relations to USA. But it's stil comunist country and situation won't change in nearest future. Dinasty of Castro have big power and respect from citizens of Cuba. Economy of Cuba is weak and many people in this country are poor.
But for me it's very strange and nice to see pictures of Cuba, where people rides with classic american cars made in mid of previous century or old cars made in Soviet Union.

All I stated was he was not the worst out of the two brothers. As for the history,who is to know really if it could have worked,to many powers where limiting Socialism from breathing,it forced odd bed fellows to come together. I never really liked how the whole Che aspect went down and that for me was what made me not a big fan of Fidel.

I hope the US has learnt its lessons about regime change - either you fail like you did with Fidel Castro. Or you think you succeed, and then you realize how big a failure it was, like in the case of Saddam Hussein. Raul may be worse than Fidel, but America should let Cuba decide its own future.

Can't agree with that statement. Raul seems to be a moderate compared to Fidel. I agree that before assuming power, he had a reputation for being a ruthless extremist. But his policies have changed since then. He has become more moderate and conciliatory. He is solely responsible for the recent upswing in the relations with the United States.

whatever people here are saying that doesn't change the fact that Castro is a hero and of course not all of people will agree cause this how politics work
he survived more than 600 killing attempts from the US and died at 90 , this is alone a great achievement  :)
 

It's always easier to fight for principles than to live up to them. That what applies to Fidel Castro.

He may have started his revolution out of the morally sound motive to free people from dictatorship, but ended up becoming a dictator himself. That kind of career is symptomatic for many revolutionary leaders, who are absorbed by principles, but not by compassion for the people.

So it's definitely a day of liberation for Cuba. However if the country has a brighter future remains to be seen...

Russia has been fighting the ISIS for the last two years. On the other hand, the Americans were indirectly helping the ISIS, by attacking the pro-government forces (the bombing of Deir Ezzor was the most brazen attempt by the US till now, to help the ISIS).

More like the Americans and the ISIS having common enemies (Assad, Putin, Iran, Hezbollah.etc) and joint objectives (overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria, establishment of an Islamic Caliphate in Yemen.etc). At least some of the American politicians believe that the ISIS is a better option when compared to Assad in Syria.

Really see no other options for Raul and you can tell he was opening up with gritted teeth when he had to make any public address.
Obama had to take some serious barbs/jabs his direction for keeping Cuba stifling under their thumb for so long. Raul is no dummy I do not see Cuba turning a new leaf so easily without a bigger picture in mind. Venezuela falling into disarray really cost Cuba a leg to stand on and I think this is just a emergency measure,since they do not want to be owned by Russia or China for the most part.
You may be right in Raul softening with age though because the old Raul would have bit off his arm before following through with this current set up.

These points are all showing that Fidel's brother is lax on his tight grip on the country. So not to allow a revolt to happen he has to let these technologies in as China and Russia has come to accept but still has control over it. Remember the google searches being blocked by China?

Not that he is not like Fidel's for sure, and then everything depends on the American leader.If he can explain to Raoul the prospects of a democratic society, Cuba will go the right way.

The Cuban government does not actively block the propaganda channels (like China and North Korea). Google does not face much censorship there. But first of all, not many can afford broadband internet in Cuba. Even if you try to disperse American propaganda through internet, it will reach only a few tens of thousand households at the most.

Crypto currencies would not survive under communist rule as it is free market capitalism. Internet censorship is also very widespread in communist countries. Why is it the future and why should the Bitcoin community support communism?

They need one more to kick the bucket before they stand a chance to have a non-totalitarian government again.   Seeing his funeral procession with citizens waving cuban flags during it made me think about how people could so quickly forget the firing squads, imprisonments, and awful general nature of the Castro regime.

All those who support ideologies such as communism and socialism are lazy welfare rats, who want to leach off hard-working people. The same is the case here as well. Those who don't want to work, will support communism.

Cuba have a lot of antique goods - cars for example, so this country can get a lot of cash, if they start to export and sale antique goods. US tourists will no be interested in this poor country, except some antique goods dealers.
