Title: Corsair 1000x and power sata cables
Post by: twofreckles on November 26, 2016, 09:02:30 AM
Recently I got unpleasant surprise. One of power cables from SATA fried, as well as input connection in PSU. The cable itself have 4 sata outputs, so now question is there some guideline how many GPU can be connected to 1 cable? I am usually using 3 connections.

This is the cable I am talking about (more or less):

I think those cables should theoretically support more SATA connections than what they have connectors for, but what are you planning to connect to them? SATA drives?

Only GPU, rx 470 nitro. But as the cable fried so now I am confused if they can handle 3 GPU's on 1 cable....

Bro if you are trying to power risers with this shit, my cable fried 2 days ago too (mining with claymore v8). I simply use molex to power risers now. 2 riser per molex. Same PSU.

better not, i would do 1 cable for one gpu , they can sustain around 50w, that's why your cable fried

just to clarify, the sata cables power molex on riser... But I guess I will lower number of connections to 2. There is not enought cables thought :)

For the R9 390, you can use that to support 2 to 3 PCIE riser. For the RX 470 or 480, you can support 1.

I had molex to sata converter on my risers. Just limit to 2, I have had no problems since than.

what ever it is... hold the cable once in a while and feel if its warm or not. Once its too warm then you know its over stretching it.

Use only one sata cable per gpu, and power with it only risers, not gpu.

@uray
Don't you know in which shop can I buy exactly this riser?
On their lhclab.com webpage there are only standard risers.

Yep, I go 1 PCI-E cabe for 2 cards but every riser is on its own sata cable.

well, if u r using this PCIE powered riser, why are u still using SATA cable? you should running free from SATA/Molex connector
