Title: Wish I waited before selling
Post by: HappyBitCoinUser on April 07, 2013, 11:26:02 AM
After selling some coins today, the price keeps going up up up, and I'm waiting for it to dip down just a little bit so I can make another 1-2% profit again.

Never played stocks before, but this is fun.

I see on MtGox ticker some people selling 1,000 - 3,000 BitCoins. Thats nearly $450,000! Wish I had that amount to try and make 0.5% - 2.0% profit with, would be a couple thousand dollars a day!

Playing with X amount which is nothing more than I'm willing to lose so its all good.

It's always nice buying a load at what you think is a nice price and waking up to a massive increase in price. Happened with my ltc I brought at 65c and went to about $4.

Such trades are really hard to get profit from if the trend is going upwards. If you time it for the first couple of days after a major ddos attack on MtGox you might be able to pull it off a few times.

I understand the feeling, but be aware of the emotional roller coaster that will occur when things go south. I have been in the stock market for nearly two decades and there are good times and bad.....this just happens to be one of the good for BTC. I possess and believe in Bitcoin, but when a market turns, it can make one lose sleep. I don't think we're at that point yet!

MtGox Ticker is experiencing 1 minute 30 second lag, are they under DDOS attack now?

it might have been a minor attack but I would guess not. When one happens for real you will first see a big selloff of about 1-3k BTC. Then over the next half hours the price will start creeping downwards and once its dropped perhaps 5% the real DDOS will start and the price will drop another 15% over a few minutes before rebounding back upward. After the rebound there will be massive volatility for (the last time it was) a couple of days before stabilizing again. During this volatility you might be able to trade some but its still highly risky.  I wouldnt try it with more than maybe 1-5% of my available bitcoins.
