Title: Before there were Casascius coins, there were bitbills
Post by: kgo on April 07, 2013, 01:51:38 PM
Since there seems to be a collectors market developing for vintage Casascius coins, I was wondering if anyone was interested in collecting bitbills.  These were the original physical bitcoin.  I've got two 5 BTC bills.  Is there any collector interest?

I would say yeah they are quite valuable.

I had a ton of BitBills and ripped them all open in June 2011 except for one 1BTC one I still have intact.  Wish I didn't.  But, I have some pretty unique stuff I'd be willing/able to trade for BitBills if anyone's interested.  Perhaps something to discuss at the Bitcoin Foundation conference.

And if I get an offer I like I'll throw in a (used) payee card.

I'd be interested in a used card.

I'm building a history of physical bitcoin items website (It's coming soon....)  ;)

One that's been cut open and cashed out?

I guess if anyone is interested, I would sell both cards and the used payment card for a total ot 12.1 BTC.  12 BTC for the cards and + 0.1 BTC for insured Priority Mail shipping.

If I could see what it looked like, if it didn't look too messed up then yeah I'd buy one :)

Also got 1 of the 1BTC Bitbills and wondering if people are interested at all - fascinating thread. Does anyone know how many were made/sold, and if they ever got past v0.07 (which is the version listed on mine)?

If ya don't have any used ones what are you looking at getting for one?

Or if somebody has one that's not preloaded I'd be interested in that too!

I'm only interested in these for museum purposes, not for resale ;)

I might be able to get you a sealed one from a friend I know that has one. lucky for you its just a BTC1 one. I'll ask what she wants for it. she'll probably do 1.2 or something
