Website (https://fundrequest.io) :: WhitePaper (https://fundrequest.io/whitepaper.pdf) :: GitHub repository (https://github.com/FundRequest/)

What is FundRequest?

FundRequest introduces an easy and secure way to reward bugfixes and feature requests on any project.
More than a monetization platform, FundRequest is a system for custom support that will boost the Open Source community as a whole – from developer to end user.

It allows developers to search for funded issues that best match their skill set to solve and claim the bounty. Developers will receive SkillTokens in addition to their bounty what will validate their skills on different technologies. By their SkillTokens developers will be able to see their ranking on multiple leader boards.

FundRequest provides value to
  • Users
  • Developers
  • Business
  • Software Projects

FundRequest can be used to
  • Accelerate development
  • Reward contributors
  • Measure community interest

FundRequest : A Decentralised Platform for rewarding open source contributions using Smart Contracts

FundRequest.io (https://fundrequest.io) :: WhitePaper (https://fundrequest.io/whitepaper.pdf):: ICO Details (https://fundrequest.io/ico/) :: GitHub repository (https://github.com/FundRequest/token)

Open-source software is often developed by many programmers who volunteer their skills. We want to offer an integrated decentralised platform where developers can get compensated for their work and where people can incentivise developers to address bugs, or contribute to a particular feature, via crowdfunding on the Ethereum blockchain. The value FundRequest offers to

Open Source projects
Is the increase in incentive to develop a new feature or to fix a bug. Which in turn adds more value and stability to the project. Additionally by comparing the amount of backers and the total funded amount, one could get an insight on customer/user priorities related to open tickets.

Developers and Contributors
Is rewarding the time and effort they invest in supporting open source projects. For contributors who don’t care about the reward, FundRequest offers the ability to donate the rewards to the contributor’s favourite charity.

Businesses
Is a level of support which is positioned between either having no support or paying for Enterprise support. Companies can pick which issues they wants to see resolved and decides how much budget they wants to allocate. They only pay for bugs that impact their business.

Users
Is more stable and feature rich open source software. Additionally they can fund a issue that impacts them, or contribute to raising funds for implement a new feature.

Why we have a crowdsale
There are three reasons why we are having a crowdsale

Setup large marketing campaign
For the project to be successful we need to attract a critical mass of users and just building the platform will not be enough to attract the masses. Especially since cryptocurrency is involved. Therefore the largest part of the crowdsale funds will be allocated to launch a one year marketing campaign targeting software developers and IT companies. (See the Whitepaper)

Hire of a UI Designer
The key to any successful platform is have a user-friendly and intuitive interface. This is one part where FundRequest wants to make the difference with its competitors. Today we are missing a key profile, which is a UI designer. By using a portion of the crowdsale budget we intent to attract the right person with the right set of skills for this position.

Enable full time commitment
At the moment we work on the project in our spare time, since we all have other full time jobs. Sadly enough, we still need money to pay the bills and
put food on the table, so to be able to work full time we need a source of income for the duration of the project. This is currently estimated (based on the first milestone) around 12 to 15 months.

What we offer our backers
In return for your support you will receive Ethereum based tokens, FND’s (FundRequest Tokens). Only 2,000,000 (two million) exist, no additional FND tokens will ever be created. Every quarter, from the moment the platform is live, 9% of all the funds that were raised to solve issues, answer questions or implement new features by our platform, will be distributed among FND token holders.

Simply put

if you own all 2,000,000 FND tokens you will receive 100% of 9% of all the funds that were raised.
if you own 2,000 FND tokens you will receive 10% of 9% of all the funds that were raised.

For full details on the ROI Forecasts and the distribution of raised capital we strongly advise to read our Whitepaper (https://fundrequest.io/whitepaper.pdf) our visit the ICO (https://fundrequest.io/ico/) page on fundrequest.io (https://fundrequest.io) !

Join the Crowdsale

The crowdsale will start on February 6, 2017 and will last 42 days until March 19, 2017. In total two million tokens will be distributed.
Currently the crowdsale contracts are being tested and audited.

Feel free to have a look at the code in our public GitHub repository (https://github.com/FundRequest/token)

Your whitepaper is the best one I have seen so far, very long and detailed, and you need to hire an escrow to host this ICO, if you really want to raise bitcoin for further development. Prepare work should be doing more, including marketing, bounty campaigns, escrows, this is my 2 cents. Best wishes to your ICO.

One more ICO and again on Ethereum. 100k ETH Minimum Goal - why are you considering capitalization in ETH? And without ready-made product again, what you need is only collection of finance on implementation?

Watching. Very well described whitepaper, I have not seen such a detailed description. Publish crowdsale contract on GItHub and the Ethereum test net for review and transparency. Expected start of crowdsale.

"The crowdsale will start on February 6, 2017 and will last 42 days until March 19, 2017. "

But your OP is only 1 page discussion, IMO you lack of activity and brand awareness, you need to come and communicate with us, your project is significant, hope your marketing will be good too.

Like the idea but since it's Eth  based which I am not comfortable with I'm not going into this, tried reading the whole concept but there is no mention of investors protection like an escow anyway goodluck to those who will participate.

Yep!
I think the escrow it is very important in crowdsale/ICO, it could be more reassuring potential investors. Moreover dev is no longer active here since January 18, 2017.

I like the idea of FundRequest but I just don't understand why this require an ICO funding, this is service provision and can be paid directly for the service offer. I don't understand why they need to create another tokens for this. This team can be paid directcly in BTC or Eth depending on the Crypto of their choice

Look likes ICO Years still continue after 2016 full of ICO project now 2017 started with many ICO project. Not only escrow is important but now when the mainnet live and the exact time when the coin will added in exchange is important too at least the estimated time, needed to added in the project timeline.

In my opinion, I think you should know first if the project is genuine, sincere or still active before participating in any promotional campaign. You might end up empty handed if you join without such a bit of assurance from the dev team.

They have postponed the ICO because they want to have first a working MVP - Minimum viable product before the start of the ICO. I consider that reasonable.

It's smoke and mirrors that is being pulled under the pretense that it's innovative initiative that will revolutionize the industry by further extending the utility of smart contracts. While it's a copy of swarm that is put in ethereum shoes. Ethereum gets huge publicity due to these threads and it seems that it's the only thing that brings them to the forefront of booming altcoin space.

Will you only be accepting ETH as payment in the IC or bitcoin also? I always have gas problems when I try to buy in ETH ICOS so it's sometimes difficult for me to participate. ETH feels fairly unstable to me at the moment. I have found the NXT platform much more stable to be honest. Maybe you should consider multi platform chain ICO.

We will try to release a beta or a more stable version of the alpha before the ICO, but since that is already the 20th of November we are not sure if we will make it. Especially due to the overhead an ICO brings in terms of providing formation, going to conferences, setting up the forms and channels to deal with the crowdsale.

A head up , we are not going to allow everyone to partake, you will have to be whitelisted. The first step will be to join our slack community (https://slack.fundrequest.io)

I think this would be essential. Allowing people to pool their resources to make huge bounties for very important tasks would be too good to pass up.

Yes, definitely. Not yet in our first release, but in a future release we will add the possibility to crowdfund bounties in any ERC20 compliant token.

That's awesome! Is the pre-ICO already over? If so, when is the next good time for me to get in?

The token sale is not planned yet, we first want to have a release on mainnet. You can already register (https://register.fundrequest.io/) for the token sale and you will receive our newsletter with all updates.

Is there a deadline for the developers to complete their bounty? What about the bounty reservation? If who quickly solve it, she the one who will get the payment?

We will add the possibility to put a deadline on a bounty in the future.

It is the solution that is approved by the maintainer of the project and merged in the code base that gets the bounty. Though we have a dispute flow for when a developer does not agree that his solution was not accepted.

The latest news is communicated via our telegram channel (https://t.me/fundrequestofficial) , our blog.fundrequest.io and via our newsletter.
Our next project update is planned for next week. At the moment we have 7 partnerships lined up , the first was announced +/- 2 weeks ago, that was Request Network. Some will be communicated before the token sale, others shortly after. In parallel we are in contact with high open source profiles to extend our advisory board. For more detail you will need to join us on telegram or follow our other media channels

But most of the funds we were able to collect from a bunch of smaller investors, a real community effort. And from looking at the way our whitelist is growing it appears that we will again have to set a low individual cap to make sure everyone has a chance to take part.

Those are actually some pretty big publications. I'm excited for this project after reading the ITprotoday.com article. I actually think I could supplement or even replace my income as a developer working on this platform alone.

That is one of our long term goals of our project.

Let me share just one of our visions. The basic flow is one person funds one issue and one person resolves it. After that multiple people can fund (introducing crowdfunding). Next multiple people can resolve an issue (introducing the team concept). If you can resolve one issue, one can resolve multiple, if we start grouping issues, then we can start funding projects and teams can apply for projects. So why would it not be possible to create an international development factory? If we are able to develop a project, why only start at the development layer, why not start one step before, with the analysis. Give those people/profiles also a marketplace (doesn't exist at the moment). At that moment we are not far from a platform where a person with a good idea and funding can go come to fundrequest to have it build from A to Z.

Today we focus on the first step.

We had a few interesting questions on telegram  that we want to share with you

How do you compare with Bounty0x and Gitcoin?
How we differ from our competition in pure product :
We will support multiple platforms, crowdfunding of issues and team collaboration. Additionally we will create a reputation system based on skill , that will allow you to generate reputation cross platform. For example you can get reputation from fixing a python bug on GitHub but also for providing the best answer to a python question on StackExchange.
We are aware that the most challenging part is to get the entreprises onboard and are therefor already out in the field pitching our project and collecting feedback so we can make the right pivote where needed to align ourself with their needs.  We are aware of our strenghts but also of our weaknesses , therefore we try to surround us with the right people to strenghten us where we are weak (for example marketing, networking)

If I create a bounty to fix a bug how do you make sure that the ones taking the task are qualified enough? 🤔
We rely on the host platform (e.g GitHub, ...). The project maintainer is the person that will accept the solution, bad quality will be filtered out. The more people that will use our platform the more solutions that will be provided for the maintainer to pick from. Similar to platforms like 99designs.com
And if malicious behaviour occurs anyone can raise a disput

Yes but let’s say task would take 1 week to finish I would have wasted 1 week 🤔
You can ask yourself the question how is this quality guaranteed today? (without the financial incentive).
We start with that as a base, and we add a reputation system (including penalties)
People will be able to stake tokens for working on a request, this will show devs + maintainer how many people are working on an issue

Let’s say I have a smart contract to audit I want to make sure I have a pro doing it 🤔. If a friend got kidnapped I would hire some ex special ops vs crowdsource rescue team no? 🤔
That will be a pro feature, if you are a customer that want specific people to work on it, people with a higher skill/reputation in a certain field, you will be able to configure that in your request, but the price of the request will be higher. The skill token/reputation system can be compared with the reputation on StackExchange. We plan to integrate is cross platform, allow users to get "java skills" from answering a question on stackexchange, but also on fixing a java bug on Github

As the platform gains more interest and devs yes but how do you solve the chicken egg problem at start? 🤔
Wwe have tokens reserved in our incentivization pool, so we can do the initial funding to attract and reward developers, and in the 2nd stage enterprises will take over

If am an enterprise I have my own devs why would I want to use your platform?
That depends if you want to work with/on open source software. But the feedback we got from a VP from Samsung was the following and I quote
" Today you can not build a product without using open source".
As an example, Samsung has developers, but they do not have enough people to support 900+ open source components that they use in their products. In comes FundRequest.

Many enterprise use OSS code but don’t contribute 🙄
True , but here is a list of companies that support the Linux Foundation (more then3000). Just look at the Premium, gold and silver members (more the 200) . All are potential clients
https://www.linuxfoundation.org/membership/members/

Can your platform also work for non dev tasks?
Yes, at it's core it is about a request and a valid solution. We start with code, since we know that world best. The reason why we also want to include StackExchange is because it allows us not only to be less depended on one platform (e.g. GitHub), but also it allows us to switch markets. Just have a look at all the sub sections they have : https://stackexchange.com/sites
Some examples : Mathematics, Music: Practice & Theory, Languages, Finance & Money,...

How will you monetize? A commission per task?
We will not take any fees, we will first focus on mass adaptation. Afterwards we will offer premium features to monetize our platform.
Features could be : Ads, job offers, early notifications, ...

There will not be any fees. They only costs is the price of the ethereum transaction.
Our goal is to reach mass adoption, hence no fees, and in a 2nd stage add premium features for intensive users. Similar approach of what Linkedin did.

An example of a premium feature is to get notified first on high value requests,...

We will use the MetaMask plugin to fund an issue and Metamask only runs in Chrome. Hence the choice.

We will also create plugins for other browsers in a later stage. We might fund their development using the FundRequest platform ;-)

I love low individual caps. I hate when as soon as the ICO goes live it's sold out within a minute and 90% of people can't get in.

Seems like a good plan of action. The ICO should be able to fund the project to get you through to mass adoption too so that you can add the premium features later.

During 24hrs everyone will be able to get in, maybe with less then they would like , but after 24hrs they have to chance to try to get more, but then it's not guaranteed.

One of the main investors is 1kx capital (some info on what they do : https://www.crowdfundinsider.com/2017/12/126194-40-million-private-placement-ico-aelf-raises-55k-ether-private-token-sale/)
But most of the funds we were able to collect from a bunch of smaller investors, a real community effort. And from looking at the way our whitelist is growing it appears that we will again have to set a low individual cap to make sure everyone has a chance to take part.

I love low individual caps. I hate when as soon as the ICO goes live it's sold out within a minute and 90% of people can't get in.

During 24hrs everyone will be able to get in, maybe with less then they would like , but after 24hrs they have to chance to try to get more, but then it's not guaranteed.

That's an excellent way to do it. Low cap the first 24 hours so you get a diverse investment group. After that 24 hours, make it a free for all. I'm surprised I don't see this more often, did you come up with it yourself?

Sorry must have mist the question, 1 ETH buys you 1800 FND, the USD price will be locked in just before the start of our token sale (which lasts 2x24hrs)

It appears they have recently added the functionality of one-click funding and are continuing to work on the chrome extension. Pretty cool. I'm also curious about the next big goal!

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about a chrome plugin. It looks like they are now focusing on back/front end and the plug in for chrome. I'm curious as to how long the back and front end plan to take (approximately)?

Development update

Last week our auditing firm, Least Authority, finished the audit of our vesting wallets after which we added the vested tokens in the overview. Those that have invested in the presale can view their vested tokens here. We also started to add controls to the automatic claiming process which will allow us to enable claiming automatically..

Progress in bulletpoints:

Enabling of automatic claiming based on organisation has been added in the backend. (commit)
Limit ERC20 tokens based on organisation support added to smart contracts. (branch)
Improve Azraël to handle automatic claims from a queue. (commit)
Continue to update the front-end based on the profile design. (branch)
Made small changes to the main website (#20, #23, #21, #26)
Addressed two issues that were raised during the audit of the vesting contracts. For more info please read the security audit report #2.
Deployed vesting contracts and enhanced balance.fundrequest.io to show vested tokens (#24).

April 24th, 2018 - Development Update

Two weeks ago we communicated that our contracts were finalised and ready to be audited, but after a quick internal discussion we’ve decided to add a few extra changes before deploying our contracts to mainnet. One of which is the upgrade to Solidity version 0.4.23. The main reason we decided to immediately go to 0.4.23 is because it supports accessing dynamic data (such as strings) returned by function calls. Basically, this means that we could use the Eternal Storage pattern in our repository contracts.

What does this all mean exactly? It means that by upgrading to the latest solidity version, we are able to write our data to Eternal Storage and in doing so, separating our data from our logic. In turn making upgrades to existing contracts a lot easier for our developers and transparent to the end-users.
Key points we worked on:
Features:
Upgrade to Solidity version 0.4.23 (pull request #37).
Improve the upgradability of the smart contracts (pull request #38).
Implement a page where all the details of a request are visible (pull request #106).
Implement a page where you can browse all the request that are relevant to a certain user (pull request #92, #93).
Upgrade profile to match the structure of userprofile (pull request #105).
Refactor pieces of code to keep it maintainable, by making a separate functionality class from Callable (issue #30).
Finalised designing front-end screens using Sketch.

Bugfixes:
Pending request removed but not added to ‘my’ list (pull request #99).
Refactor filter for list (pull request #93).
CSS not loading properly after registering on the platform (issue #79).

Feature Freeze & Bug Fixing

The code of the first release on Mainnet, v1.0.0 — Boccaccio has been frozen, only bug fixes are now allowed, in parallel the scope for the follow up release v.1.1.0 — Balmoral has been defined. The focus will be on implementing corner stone features, like the notification system and the browser plugin.

FundRequest is a new platform that allows organizations to reward open-source contributors by sharing cryptocurrency as an extra incentive. I get the initial idea behind this that there are people with great ideas but they just don't know how to execute it. What a noble platform therefore.
