Now and then I read about some altcoin trader who shorted Bitcoin to make a profit.

First question: At the present I'm trading long on the Poloniex Exchange. How do I short trade on the Poloniex Exchange? Is it even possible? Do I need to use another exchange instead?

Second question: My account on the Poloniex Exchange is funded with bitcoin, and I don't see anyway to chart trade bitcoin itself. It looks to me like I need to fund my account with another altcoin or USD to trade long and short Bitcoin trends. How can I do this on the Poloniex Exchange? (if it's even possible)

These questions probably seem simple to an experience trader, but not to a beginning trader such as myself.

trading long is same margin buy, you only buy in margin trading if price up you can profit

1 about margin short or margin sell, the first your must replace you balance to margin balance, you can click transfer
  after transfer you can trading in margin sell, in click margin trading, is rule same standard trading, but you can selling altcoin without  balance altcoin

2 about deposit altcoin, you can deposit altcoin to margin trading, only support altcoin in margin trading, not all altcoin can to margin trading in poloniex , deposit use fiat money USD only support use tether dollar or USDT
