Title: Cold Storage Wallets
Post by: Bitstashers on November 28, 2016, 10:05:40 PM
Hey all!

As a new bitcoin user, it is important to properly secure your coins. While the web based and phone app based wallets are convenient, they are not a place you would want to store your coins for extended periods of time. A cold storage wallet is the solution you need to properly secure your bitcoins. A cold storage wallet is a wallet in which the public and private keys were generated on an air-gapped computer. Meaning that those keys have never seen the internet. You must verify the PGP key of the cold storage wallet generator you choose to use to ensure it is genuine and hasn't been messed with.

If any new bitcoin user has any questions regarding cold storage solutions, let us know and we will help you out. Cold storage wallets can be generated and printed out on paper (just be sure to keep it clear of water and flame!) plastic and engraved into various metals.

Wrong place to advertise.  Please move this into the services, goods, or service announcements section of the forum!

My apologies. I wanted to start a discussion and answer questions about cold storage solutions for new bitcoin users. I will remove the link to our website.

If you really want to help in that aspect, you can take a look at the thread created by Mitchell and me: [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631151.msg16405643#msg16405643). Cold storage was only briefly covered as that was not the primary idea behind it. However, maybe you will have some suggestions regarding potential improvements. Newbie wallet questions pop up from time to time.

Thanks Lauda!  This thread can be deleted then.  We will participate and help out in that thread, if we can.
