Title: Alternate Currencies On Exchanges.
Post by: jasinlee on April 07, 2013, 05:54:52 PM
ALT Coins that belong on an exchange. Opinions ? Pros/cons please. I am not figuring in premine, just reliability of the coin its self with regard to its developers and potential market.

The ones I feel should be accessible on any exchange.

BTC
LTC
DVC
NMC

BBQ - Not sure if there is anything wrong with this now that the 51% attack it got hit with at launch is no longer an issue(for the moment) perhaps the next up and comer?

All of which are not likely to be 51% (at least not anymore in bbq's case.)

Iffy coins that I am on the fence about supporting in any manner.

PPC - Closed source, flaws that there are no proof have been fixed. Based on feedback: Extremely unexplained and undocumented source. Dubious reputation of developer.
NVC - Same as PPC.
TRC - Appears to be a prime target for a 51% and may not survive due to it based on recent events.
BTE - Same as TRC.
XRP - Not mined, not really a crypto currency.

I would rather BTE went on an exchange than BBQ.

PPC source isn't closed, it's just not really discussed to any extensive manner by the developer and the vulnerabilities that are suspected to come along with PoS systems also aren't really talked about.

What do you think would be more fair, extremely unexplained and undocumented source?

No matter how we look at it, it cannot be taken as a crypto currency as it is not mined. It is simply created arbitrarily.

Any further opinions on this?

BTC
LTC
DVC
NMC
BQC

Have not seen a valid argument to support any others on an exchange.
