Title: Can One have charity donation collection through this forum??
Post by: Jafri101 on November 30, 2016, 11:20:05 AM
I think botcoinners are increasing rapidly so there should be a way of charity donation for the poors as well. It doesnt take all of one's BTC from wallet but helping others may help you one day...

You can donate to Sean's Outpost (http://www.seansoutpost.com/). There are also fund collections for charities on the forums from time to time, remember seeing some topics on this a few months back, but I can't seem to find them now.

I think there had been a charity thread in this forum.  Some of them are running for some years now, though some had already stopped.  Even in altcoin section there are several charity donation thread, though i don't know if they are legit or not.

faucets allow those that are poor to atleast use/experience bitcoin at no investment cost only a time cost.

as for charities for the poor outside of bitcoin, that requires proof of charity.
EG
if a noob with no ranking begs for funds.. forget it.
if a proper charity that shows results (transparent spending frontline and not wasting 10%-90% on headoffice 'costs') was to display a bitcoin address on their website(not some $2 newly created site/blog). and then advertise the actual charity and its POSITIVE and economical use of the funds..

then many have been known to happily donate.
prime examples
seans outpost+++++
economic use: the guy asking for donations is the guy making food for poor,
proof: he has shown results
link to charity: has address on website to legitimise donation request rathr than strange noob username randomly posting in btc address on forum

red cross+-
economic use: they waste 50-90% of funds on non frontline support
widely know: yes
proof: they shown results
link to charity: media hype about red cross partnering with bitpay. though bitpay DO host a donate page on bitpay. red cross has no bitcoin QRcode address option on red cross donate page

random noob -----
zero rank ask for funds on forum
posts bitcoin address on forum
posts a sob story or link to an unknown unverifiable freebie blogsite

For anyone to be ready to donate anything they like to see the proof that the one who received it will spend it for good things or for described cause. But with bitcoin it will be hard to track where those donation will end up, and also hard to verify if the charity organization is real or not other than some big organization like red cross, scout etc.

So idea of charity donation collection through bitcoin will be bad idea and will end up with nothing or with scam.

The forum do not allow for begging, so if this is for yourself... then you shit out of luck. You could start a project like this :

https://thewaterproject.org/donate-bitcoin and post it on here for awareness. If you need help with such a project, you can post here,

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=12.0 with the idea and ask people to help.  ;D

Someone would only give donations for charity if they find the original people from the organization and that should be proved so that they can be sure that the money they are going to invest wont go to someone else's wallet which was collect in the name of charity.

Well if there is none you can make one. You can start by posting the details of your proposal and why you are doing the charity work. Who will benefit you charity work and why do we need to participate. I suggest you should also add facebook, twitter, instagram links so your sponsors can monitor how your charity activities are doing on a daily basis. Its just a suggestion though its up to you to decide.

I am not against donating or charity. But, if you, Mister OP, would be the one collecting the funds for charity purposes, just forget it. Your purpose may be noble but we have no way to check whether you will really use the funds for what it is intended. If the collector would be a trusted member here, forum members might even try to help.

its a good if this forum have one wallet that will be using for charity donation and send the donation into the poor country. but for to do this, i think we need to make a legacy from the government that this charity foundation is legal.

This sound really nice project and seems they are actually using those donated bitcoin to real life people.
But most of the charity organization only spent 10-20% of donated amount to build projects other % goes as salary for all the employees, in organization running cost as well as good % in the name of organization's board members' world tour.

its a good if this forum have one wallet that will be using for charity donation and send the donation into the poor country. but for to do this, i think we need to make a legacy from the government that this charity foundation is legal.
If something similar to this could be organized by this forum, they can directly donate it to some well known charity organization to not get into any legal issues. However problem with all of those so called charity organization is same that i have mentioned above.

Seans outpost is the most valued donation if you do it in BTC. Mainly coz he has proved that all of your donation will go to charity. If you want to start something like that for your own country, then you need to do allot of work before you ask for a donation to others.
Good luck.  :)

if we are going to make the donations to a centralized place then it is best if that place is a real legit charity organization with positive results. for example i have been reading about Sean's Outpost and it seems like a decent place with real results. forum on the other hand would always have the issue of trust.

If OP can use google as well, there are some site which already used bitcoin as donation for charity, like mentioned above, igot, coinhako, ect. Already being a part for Nepal earthquake last year ago.

I have never been really interested when it comes to the charity portion of Bitcoin, however there are definitely a few threads I've seen in the past which detailed different organizations or people that went out or go out to help people or things. I'm parroting what others have said, but Sean's Outpost has been one that I've heard a lot of good things about.

Most places that we could use for tax purposes would contradict bitcoin being anonymous.
The signature and faucets suffice for the most part anything more serious tends to get bogged down in red tape or administration fees. Reason I am very limited in who I donate to know,as many of these places are just to upper heavy in the management aspect.

From what I see here and in the bitcoin realm, most people are trying to get rich, rather than actually help pull others out of the gutter.

You can do some easy jobs too to earn money, charity is the last appeal someone do, when all the another alternatives are dryed or when you don't have fisical conditions to complete a job. As was said, there are some sites doing charity, check there.

Here on forum you can find small tasks on Services section, complete them and earn some satoshis easily.

It is tough to have a charity donation collection since bitcoin is anonymous, enabling the person to cheat and never return back

I think you could really open a thread with regards to donation process. The problem that you would now be facing is that putting all the statistics(100% honestly written) Then the transparency should also be there to ensure that those funds are being sent to the right person not just by you creating new identity lol.

Now if you could do that (still there is no guarantee that someone would be interested on your proposal, just saying anyways)

Just like that if you open a thread and asking about charity and that too it is a newbie then i think no one will be interested in it. If properly asked with full details of charity association and its location and proof of work then you will get lot of support from this forum

First of all i didnt say i eant your charity.. I was interested if anyone makes some organisation with transparency that shows money really went to poors in food clothes other helps etc. In this forum there should be a bunch of honest people making a team for work.. dont include me anywhere.. i just said it could be done by this platform also.. if there is any charity organistaion already been active in by this platform then why not more??
