Title: If you were a developer. What would you do to make money?
Post by: tardi on December 04, 2016, 04:48:49 AM
Question:

If you were a developer and you were able to develop anything, what do you think is the easiest way to make money?

Some ideas:
-Altcoin exchange
-Develop a cryptocurrency
-Bitcoin/altcoin marketplace

I am a developer and I need to start making extra money to pay medical expenses so I would appreciate your help.

And no there is no such thing as a job in Crypto either.

Any of these three can make you money but the crypto currecny is over flooded and there are big need needs for bitcoin and altcoin marketplace,in my opinion setting up marketplace for Bitcoin and altcoin is the best option because some of these altcoins do not have usage,if you can set up an ebay or amazon like site which utilize crypto currency would be great.

Become a part of a team that already exists and pays regularly. Creating yet another altcoin that doesn't fill a hole that's already been filled by a coin seems pointless, especially if you want to make money with it.

The marketplace thing may be interesting, provided you'd be able to pull it off, not only technically, but also marketing-wise. I think the marketing side is tricky; many overdo it and have no tech, others do it too little and hope that superior tech itself somehow gets noticed at some point.

Shameless plug: XEL could do with some extra input and if Lannister decides to show up again, there may be some decent bounties to collect.

These three projects need experience and good marketing plan, because you will find many competitors, you also need a team of workers, because there are many sides of any project, not only the developing side, you need marketing and community manager experts.

You can make money by all the three ideas you have stated. But you have to make it stand out from the crowd. The truth is there is enough of altcoins and crypto exchanges. If you have a plan to make a better one with cool features then develop it else go work with an existing project or get a real job!

Since this topic is created within the Altcoin Discussion forum, I think I will five you an answer based on Altcoin.

What you have suggested is some good idea to make some profit from the crypto industry (specifically Altcoin). Another business you may consider if you are a really talented developer is to help already established Altcoin to grow. Don't join new Altcoin because the future is a bit hazy. Join a established Altcoin that have a somewhat large user base and start developing whatever things you want for the Altcoin.

It can range from gambling platform to faucet site to micropayment service. Or even a web wallet or maybe a user-friendly blockchain.

Starting an Altcoin exchange or develop a new currency is just too much work for a person - unless you can find a few partners. Creating a crypto marketplace is a good idea but ... how many people will really use Altcoin (not Bitcoin) to purchase things online? Most people use Altcoin as a form of investment or gambling currency only.

I would not enter crypto development for the sole purpose of making money. However if i were to launch a coin i would compete fairly to mine coins at the early stages and hope they have value down the line.

Developer needs lots of money before they can established a good bitcoin or altcoin exchange, so on bitcoin or altcoin marketplace. It's not as easy as you think. You need a team and staff here. You will have to pay for some things associated in that kind of business or investment. Also you just state that you need an extra money for a sole purpose, so if ever you develop a crypto it will just make your coins a shit one since you are focus on getting the money and not on development.

If you are earnings decenlty in your job just continue it. If you really need some extra money then find a part time in a real world. It's way better as above ideas you mentioned needs more time to be matured and you didn't even sure if it will become success.

I'd say move away from thinking about crypto, sadly crypto is not set up in such a way to take advantage of talent unless you are very lucky.

I'll prefer altcoin exchange, there are to many coins in the market only few altcoin exchanges, but I want it to be as popular as poloniex or bittrexx, and altcoin exchange life span is longer than altcoins

I think you better find another way to earn money, we have a lot of alt coin exchanger and a lot of unused alt coin in this world, so if you created any of those things you need a lot of time to advertise so people trust your coin or your site, if you are a got good skill then you you better find a stable job or look for side job, alt coin job is not as good as you think

if I were a developer and I was good at it, that meant I was a programmer and that meant for money I would have left my parents basement to get a real job in the real world to make real money and stop thinking about making money by creating a new altcoin or anything altcoin related.

and then if I were still interested in "developing" something I would have made an altcoin project for free not for money.

getting a real job doesn't mean becoming a slave.

and even if it does, it is a lot better than becoming a zombie in altcoin world copy pasting code, and changing a couple of lines and starting to pump and dump like thousands of other developers sheeps!

Developers make money by hacking themselves or buying their own ico.

It's a little bit like incest-porn.

I will create an exchange, the life span is far better than launching a new coin although it's not fast and easy profit but at least you can run an exchange as long as you like ,you also have the option to run if you have more than 100000 bitcoin..

There are so many dead exchanges out there, that seem to be well coded, have plenty of available coins to trade, but lack any popularity. This isn't a good way to make any money. There really is hardly any money in this scene anymore.

Problem is what kind of job ?
I was alluding to the fact that most around the scene are pointless bullshit..

I would not have a problem with it if a dev seen a project and got inspired
and then thought shit, you know what ? I want to be a part of that "Vision"

Then..

We have a legion of shitheads from across the planet who have weak coding experience
who pop up here and think damn i can build hello world in Java or C sharp / .net or VB  :D
Then think hey !
I aem'z big timez c / c++ coder'z nows !!1111

PAY ME !

I myself have more coding experience in 'C' than all these little shitheads around here combined
and i would not make a coin because i am not qualified for the job at hand.

..and yeah i said C (not C++) --> for a reason ;)

So..
This issue reminds me of arguments i have had with known coders in Crypto over the years.
I would bitch at them that their hired gun mentality is a farce..
They would bitch at me in response that they "need to get paid"
So..
It had little to do with supporting a project that they believed in.. instead it was about "Getting paid"

..as a well known cancer head cloner once said in his cloning guide..
"..for fun & profit"

Let me know how that works out for ya.. make sure to quit your day job "Dev's"

Develop a unique cryptocurrency perhaps. having it unique however is something very difficult to create now that almost all are created already besides those tokens meant for business and runs on separate platform. the worse is that there are different platforms this time from eth, lisk and waves when infact we could have just create one and every thing as assets.

being a developer isn't really easy to make money though.

maybe the problem is that they are not offering anything different. i mean when i am trading on an old exchange already and i am satisfied with some features and dislike others i will never look for another copy of the same place with the same features.

but if they try to be more innovative on their platform, offer features that other places don't and maybe even have some competitive fees (not the same 0.2%) they could have become more successful!

Well, I think, the best way to make money for developers is to make lots of apps, then sell it. so I can make a lot of money. if not, I just need to try to join the Google AdMob. Well, I think it could make me make money in large amounts if many who use these applications

you might say that about investors , but develop is different. you can make a good easy money...
i'm saying that because a few investors put money in any sh*t ico around here so generally the developer make huge money and the investors lose everything.

PS: I do not support this attitude, that's why i'm saying. if investors stop putting their money in any sh*t ico this scheme will end.

One unique aspect of the BitShares blockchain is that you can actually work for and get paid by the blockchain itself.

Take for example vikram who was just voted in as a worker earning 10k bts/day.  Another user Chronos is earning 16.6k bts/day for making videos about bts.

Here is his thread pitching the worker proposal: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23495.msg300188.html#msg300188

List of workers: https://cryptofresh.com/workers

If you can bring something to the table, this is worth a look.

I would find freelancing jobs online if not got hired or got some work then its better to work offline or on physical world since jobs do pay decent regarding on developing jobs and i could able to maximize my skills furthermore. This skills is the most thing that i wished since because i do really have the passion to be a programmer and a developer.

If you want to program and make money by being on projects you actually love start working on open source projects in your spare time and build up your cred so you have something to show people(nothing is harder than telling people you are great without any proof and expecting to work on decent projects). Most people talk about the freelance avenue but I don't like it since it doesn't show how you work in a project environment with other people. You have to show you can deal with multiple people who have different ways of coding. There are plenty of projects on GitHub you can help with.

If you are really serious just work on getting $125 so you can create apps. Start out with games and transition to real work and apps. It is free to program anything on your own, so if you really want to program, you'll just do it.

So in the words of a wise man, "JUST, DO IT!"

In my own opinion if you are developer i can say don't go in altcoin because it needs a lot of money to start for advertising it..
Unless if you have skills to promote your own altcoin..
It is good to developer more about bitcoin since bitcoin use still limited and i think better to find a business which is you can earn that never been made by other or i mean unique so that you can fill more about bitcoin..
Like selling shirts for bitcoin.. this is just my idea..

All your ideas need a lot of knowledge in computer science field. It is not enough only to be a good programmer. Also you need a good team and it consumes much of your time. If I were you and if I would be a good programmer then I would focus myself on bounties for various projects or I would join a team of a blochchain project.

Yes, alt coin was being the best way to make instant money, just make a beautiful thread, and you will be feeling free for taking the money.
Looks like a right way but at the same time, the abuser was making it being so pathetic.

With the recent trending of new altcoins (ICO) I think that people are making there money, not only the developers but also the owners of these ICOs and probably (not all) the investors/participants on these ICO, the cryptocurrency is not in bitcoin but focused on altcoins.
Yes, alt coin was being the best way to make instant money, just make a beautiful thread, and you will be feeling free for taking the money.
Looks like a right way but at the same time, the abuser was making it being so pathetic.
But in the starting you need to study to make an altcoin before you can make your own beautiful thread.. and if you are just newbie you can not make a beautiful thread .. And in my advise you are just another making a shitcoin or scam coin it is not a good idea..
It is better to develop a game which is can gives bitcoin free a game that not only you can get benefits also the other..

Question:

If you were a developer and you were able to develop anything, what do you think is the easiest way to make money?

Some ideas:
-Altcoin exchange
-Develop a cryptocurrency
-Bitcoin/altcoin marketplace

It's something that can be done with few bitcoin or a little more, because there are lots of altcoins/ico then I think that is not such hard. People don't look too much what is good for people but what is good for their pocket.
