Title: The return of litecoin
Post by: K210 on December 05, 2016, 02:33:46 AM
2017 will be the year of litecoin making its comeback as altcoin king. Development has picked up, price is ready to explode with lots of accumulation happening at the moment and eth is dying.

Buy litecoin and hold before 2017 starts. Good things come to those who wait!

Please tell us more on why you say that the development has picked up. Litecoin has been the same for years with nothing being developed to improve it except maybe for fixing minor issues with the coin. I also read that the developers were going to add more features with the approval of Charlie Lee. This was months ago and there were no updates since. Maybe they have decided not to do it?

Op, apart from wishful thinking what you base your statement on? I heard that LTC will rise again many times before, even before Ethereum.
And now when there is even stronger competition in the cryptocurrency field, it seems that litecoin is no only being "silver to bitcoin's gold" but to others alts as well.
Don't get me wrong, I would rather see LTC than ETH dominate - but at this point it needs a miracle to do that.

The developers have been updating folks regularly lately. New release should hopefully come out before Christmas. It's also my understanding that a potential block size increase is in the works (2019) to compliment segwit activation (at 75 percent adoption, soft fork not locked in until 95 percent). Any how here's a link to a recent update.

The major miners will pump LTC as the rumor is they will be donating to the development team regularly. Why would entities with more than 60% of the network do such a thing?

Gulden has already owned litecoin with their 1.6.0 update. Read it and be amazed at how overpriced litecoin is right now compared to Gulden. The one thing litecoin has is more exchanges and services but in terms of core development Gulden is way ahead.

I dont know whats the truth and whats a lie regarding on this speculations and rumors about LTC but in my own view i think its existence is already done and it will remain  on its place and i dont think theres any pump will happen on next year but im not here to judge but stating only my opinion. No one really knows what would be the movement.

I read on one post that Litecoin is enjoying the full support of chinese but I have complete doubt if they can make it to $20 this year,no movement for the past two years and all of this are just hype ,we want concrete proof that a good innovation and features are coming so we can support.

litecoin as one of the altcoins which able to durable and since first time was announcement until now litecoin still exist although the price indeed fluctuating and i was remember that when i first time trade this coin when reach to 0.02xx btc per 1 LTC but currently the price has decrease and less popular than other altcoins however i wish The developers will really do more and the price of LTC will back to the top price

I also agree the price did  not fluctuate but $20 price is not reasonable in the market considering that there are a lot of new coins coming up and the innovation is not that great that people will pump it to $20 ,the only thing that keeps litecoin strong in the market is because of the chinese supports.

Pretty sure that they've said that for years now, litecoin supporters. Not that i hate litecoin but i genuinely think that it's got no future. Litecoin's function against ASIC miners is now obsolete and its slightly better block time is replaced by other altcoin's block time that is seconds not minutes.

But anything could happen to litecoin price. The chinese buyers could pump it up and it could skyrocket.

Title: Re: The return of litecoin
Post by: K210 on December 05, 2016, 08:34:13 AM
Sigh....it is obvious some people take one look at litecoin and say "out of date coin". This is partially true, litecoin does not have smart contracts, confidential transactions or any other modern tech for that matter. However there is more to a coin than just its tech, a coin should have a proven track record along with a community of interested people who strive to make the coin better because they want to see it succeed not because they want to reap an instant reward.

If eth price dropped to $0.10 tomorrow how many people would still support it?  Would vitalik stick around?

The point i am trying to make is that intrinsic value has to be achieved before monetary value is achieved. Bitcoin was worthless for over a year while it build up its intrinsic value, only then did it gain value in terms of fiat. Many coins nowadays try to run before they can walk and they fall over just like what is happening with eth at the moment. Many people did not buy into eth because they wanted to make smart contracts but because they wanted to make money. This will result in nothing but a price decrease in the long run as there is no real adoption. Compare this to something like bitcoin or litecoin. People mostly buy into these coins to use which will help the price long term as there is real adoption.

Overall i think smart contracts, assets and all these tech advancements will be merged onto litecoin or bitcoin themselves in the long run. In crypto you CAN teach a old dog new tricks.

Anyways the writing is on the wall and it is up to people to draw their own conclusions.

This kind of topics seem to have the opposite effect on the market.

https://talkimg.com/images/2023/05/18/blob48345633d37bd0f8.png

Somebody seems to have dumped 100k+ LTC since you started this topic.
And today Litecoin is indeed perceived as an old coin with no perspective. If today somebody would make such a coin, with only changed algo and not much more features than Bitcoin, it would be labelled as shitcoin.
Yes, it has a background of miners, but much smaller than Bitcoin.

Unless some innovation breakthrough happens in LTC, it is slowly dying imho.

I don't know why you compare it with ETH. ETH is seen by many as a speculation-only coin. The good/lucky part with ETH that there are new coins using it, making the market have a pretty constant demand.
Let's see how long will that last... However, ETH should not have a place in the discussion about LTC, they are far too different.

maybe you're right. litecoin price currently being stabilized. Well, the highest price in poloniex around 0.0051 BTC. I feel that 2017 will come, litecoin price will probably go up along with the rising price of bitcoin. I feel that the price will reach  0.01 BTC to 1 litecoin. so, litecoin might be a good choice for an investment tool

lets be honest this type of topic has zero effect on the market either way. market makers care little about this forums discussions, its pretty much just background noise in the crypto scene.

as for OP; obviously there are those with big enough investment in and more importantly the means to pump the market to a ridiculous level, which will likely happen sooner or later, however does that really mean the "return of litecoin" or merely just a few happy profit days for those who love fiat  :-\

They're not so often on the Litecoin market.

Litecoin was good project at first and also it's most known altcoin even nowdays but it don't has perspective, wasn't king in altcoins and it'll never be. If litecoin's developers would do more works and etc than it wouldn't be so dead like it's today. I think what you said isn't correct, there won'tbe any 500% profit in 2017 year from this coin but they really have chanse to become it as popular as it was at first.

It dumped to $2.70 earlier today.

LOL.

Anyone who still owns LTC is either a delusional, bad trader, of bag holder.

Litecoin will never see the light of day EVER again. I am always right about my predictions, I am the GOD of LTC predictions.

Like I said; 0.003 by year's end.

Anyone who dares to believe or state otherwise is a FOOL.

LTC IS DONE:

OVER:

Exactly, litecoin is a great altcoin, actually its the only altcoin that has stayed around this long but thinking it would reach 20$ is little absurd, yes it can reach $20 but when maybe bitcoin is $2000 and after the recent drop its not looking good for LTC.

Yeah im a little bit surprise that the LTC pumps but well it drops just fast. You are right that is the only altcoin that is not really dead since it is created because other altcoins is not pumping nor dumping so it is already dead. Well LTC is also a great coin but it is not enough

It is really a saddening thing to see Etherium shattering itself because it is supposed to have so many potentials of its own. I am still hoping though that it can make a good comeback in 2017. I am happy that Litecoin can be making some surge because of the renewed interest bestowed upon it.

why wouldn't the 'litecoin is dead' crowd just ignore it and not waste their energy if it was so dead  ???

WE ARE STILL IN THE INFANCY OF BLOCKCHAIN TECH.  ltc never claimed to be a coin full of flashy utility.  It's not going anywhere, just like bitcoin isnt going anywhere

But dont forget that the transaction speeds are better than bitcoin when compared and the developers can always bring some interesting changes to make the coin relevant.I do see it as a stable coin and the price will increase in the future.

Title: Re: The return of litecoin
Post by: shyliar on December 05, 2016, 09:55:36 PM
Great coin with good potential. Updated reasons I like Litecoin:

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 2,100 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (2,100TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features and active development look here for whats happening in 2016:
    https://litecoinassociation.org/data/roadmap.pdf
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community. Definitly helps when consensus is needed.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing merchant payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/ as well as other processors such as coinpayments, Asmoney, Alfacoins and Coinify
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value. Look at the chart here indicating volume in the last 24 hours relative to other coins http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/#markets in fact volume has remained high month after month for years.
  • The speed, liquidity and value of Litecoin is useful to traders seeking arbitrage opportunities between exchanges.
  • Now on GDAX soon to be on coinbase.
  • Upcoming release to include a on-chain adaptive block size scaling solution. This will substantially increase the transactional capacity of Litecoin.
  • Planned anonymity features for an upcoming release. https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/53c0v6/confidential_transaction_for_litecoin/
  • Fair release. In a crypto world of premined and ICO releases many appreciate this fact. The code was released well before the Genesis block was mined and everyone knew when it would be going live; therefore, individuals could anticipate and get their miners and software ready.
  • It's primary function is to be a cryptocurrency.
  • Still mineable in many western countries even after electrical costs are factored in. Here in Canada my Titans still make a profit long after shutting my Neptunes down.
  • Many low value coins can be merge mined with it increasing profits for miners
  • It will always maintain the integrity of the blockchain (no hard forks for special interests).
  • Likely the first coin to activate segwit on it's network.
  • Possible upcoming block size increase.
  • Security.

development never stopped and that is one of the main things i like about Litecoin.

Buy litecoin and hold before 2017 starts. Good things come to those who wait!
good call though. although it was way too early (3-4 months) to call on the rise but you were right sir.

$20 LTC by December 2017 - 500% profit if you get in now
seems like this one is happening a lot sooner :)
i am honestly speculating for $50 at the very least, specially since all the other altcoins are dropping hard and all the money is flying into litecoin now.

Eth shills nowhere to be seen since their overvalued shitcoin is dying  8)
haha, this is so funny how this comment still applies. ETH is dying and now litecoin is going up. as i said all the money is getting out of there and coming in litecoin.

p.s. i wonder why this clown (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=163913) is not around anymore, i think he was finally banned for changing his mind every week :)

I have some questions to consider:
Which other altcoin have smaller confirmation time?
and a higher block size?
more programming ability (to not be only a currency ledger)?
Higher ability to protect its users (anonymous "mode on")

What am I trying to say here? Each altcoin has one strong feature that the others don't. I believe that is enough space for, at least, one coin for each feature that is important for its users.

Which is awesome but since your post in december 2016 to this day there have been many many coins who tripled in price. I think litecoins big breakthrough is not the price surge but the marketcap.

If a coin goes from 1 cent each to 10 cents each it is not a huge deal, if you can find those coins that won’t bankrupt and die and invest in them great but what we know is that everyone knows about litecoin and it worth 3.60 and now tripled which is awesome.

I think ETH has much better potential than LTC personally, I think the demand for ETH hasnt been as high because ICO risk-taking hasnt been quite as present for a little while.
Not sure why though as there are many fantastic ones out there, a few i'm personally looking into are Daostack IO, Muirfield IP, and TIP Blockchain.

TIP Blockchain aims to create the most user-friendly and easy to use platform in the cryptocurrency economy, that connects businesses to end users, and removes the technical barriers that users face today when using cryptocurrency.

Daostack IO powers decentralized companies, funds and markets to make fast and innovative decisions at scale. Basically an operating system for collective intelligence.

Muirfield IP is an opportunistic private equity real estate investment firm leading the effort to reinvent and improve private equity investing through the use of blockchain technology.
