Title: Security issues with VPN hosted on someone's computer
Post by: QuentinA on December 05, 2016, 02:21:31 PM
Hi all,

So as many of you, I need a VPN to access the USA Netflix catalogue.

My VPN provider is blocked by netflix of course.

If I offer for a few btc to someone in the USA to host a vpn server on their broadband connection for me to login, what would the security/privacy risk be ?

Knowing I use https, and while browsing netflix I do nothing else, traffic analysis wouldn't reveal much (system logs, browser and all this but yeah, limited risk)

My real concern is that the server wil be able to inject malware into my computer via this connection ?

Also I guess I could just use a shitty IoT device located in USA as a proxy hop and then not have this IP get banned right ?

Any input greatly appreciated lads :)

Cheers,
Q.
