Title: 100 years from today
Post by: debtstack on December 06, 2016, 06:27:50 PM
What altcoin will be so rare that it will be worth a lot of money just to obtain one? There is more than likely going to be that one coin that most people sold but a very rare few who hold on to the wallet for their whole lives.

To make this more fun you have to assume that you will only have one of the coin you will place your faith in. So if you chose doge being rare you'd have to assume having only one dogecoin would be worth thousands.

If bitcoin is still around then, the number 2 will be litecoin.

Yes, but I'm talking about only coins that would be worth a lot because of rarity and people selling off and not keeping.

I don't think any of these cryptos is gonna exist 100 years from now, but they definitely gonna be part of the history we're now making.  I think money is probably gonna be different.   Ain't gonna be no paper money, no coins.  Honestly it's a damn shame, but that's the way we're headed.

the one and only possibility is bitcoin and it will be something called bitcoin but won't resemble the current version in any way whatsoever. there might not be computers or the internet as we recognise it but something completely evolved that carries out similar functions.

go ahead and buy one doge if it makes you happy. your descendants probably won't be very impressed or enriched.

Definitely bitcoin. It is a dad for all coin which already exist and which will create in future. It will write history as the first crypto coin.

impossible dogecoin :( I am sorry for you !
It's a coin with inflation, so every year new coins are added. Despite the good hype of the first years now seems a coins going to dead.
(I have invested some satoshi during this period with also good ROI)

But if you look the actual value we are beyond 50% of decrease in just one year, with a value that is only a small percentage of the maximum value (around 200 satoshi)!
So... no in my opinion is quietly impossible 1 doge can worth something in 2116.

About altcoin that could be rare... remember RARE doesn't mean "a valuable" object.

I think this is the possibility.I don't have doubt about first place that would go to bitcoin but at no 2 i think it may be litecoin

None of us will be here and even our kids not!  Only grand kids!
Maybe that time they will go back to fiat! All world one fiat!? 🙈👍🏼

It's a possibility. Cryptocurrencies could destabilize fiat to the point that a unionized fiat dollar could fill its place.

Also, I don't know about you but I intend to be frozen until robot space legs become a thing. Maybe I can buy them with my rare doge.

to me.. zero/none/all will be dead.

you may think that doge will worth, but dont forget one thing... if all miners/nodes stop, the blockchain will stop(a.k.a you cant spend your money).
if miners still mining, it isn't that rare.
the only coin that might be still alive(from the one's we have today), to me, is bitcoin.

Why peoples here love to be a day dreamer?
100 years. Lol. Well you don't live for that long time.
My suggestion is, why you don't buy bitcoin every month consistently. You know the price is raising 12% per annual.
If you know what I mean, you'll didn't look for this shit.

There is no coin like that.

You can take another coin which betters for being your example, DOGE wasn't suitable. ZEC may better. ::) Your title was ridiculous.

Maybe 100 years from now 1 satoshi will be 1$ ^^
The $1 will be worth much less then from inflation so maybe its worth only $0.02 if compared to now but that is a lot. Save one bitcoin for future generations to be rich. :)

It's still is Bitcoin I will not reach another 100 years of my life but if the crypto currency will still exist in that era definitely bitcoin will still be one of the top in the market, there will be a lot of new innovative coins with greater usage but I don't see Bitcoin getting out of the top 5.

Bitcoin due to the fact that Satoshi estimated it would be around the year 2110–2140 that the mining reward scheme of Bitcoin would end and then everyone starts mining for Transaction Fee's, BTC will be worth ridiculous amounts compared to that of today although those will be the days when we here are all long gone.

Machine credit.  The coins machines use to trade for human cattle.

For sure bitcoin, already more than 16 million coins were mined only 5 million around is remaining to be mined and number of miners and demand for bitcoin is increasing rapidly so bitcoin will be so rare that one bitcoin may priced around $1 million  ;D

On the present look in the crypto currency chart,Bitcoin is the runaway winner I bet 95% will voted for Bitcoin, this is the only coin I can think which holds great potential in the market now and a foreseeable future..
And the price is not lying to us

For me still bitcoin, as bitcoin become rapidly growing each day.
The demands each day of bitcoin is really increasing, nothing
can beats the popularity of it. Thus, if holding coins till it become
you aim to reach the price may gives you more profit.

I'm sure in 100 years, all the coins we know today will be left with the better coins. As with any technology, cryptocurrency is also undergoing development. Do we still want to keep within the long time?

I don't know what;s going to happen 100 years from now, what's happening now is not what will ref;ect what will happen 100 years from now, maybe a new innovative coin will come but until there is no successor I will bet for Bitcoin,he is still the number one since the inception of crypto currency.

Theres no questions asked here since bitcoin will got this for sure but regarding on what youve said you are seeing or seeking for an altcoin in my own opinion it would be XMR since it does have the potential. All speculations here are valid since we have different point of view but in upcoming 100 years i think there would be a new coin which replaces the coins as of today. Biggest possibility that bitcoin will take the place.

very much altcoin very good for this time, and is very difficult to predict the coins that will last 100 years. but, judging from the length, and the price, perhaps litecoin will last over 100 years in the future, and perhaps, litecoin price will also increase. it makes litecoin has the highest coin prices after bitcoin if bitcoin still survive

Frankly 100 years is way to far off to be considering the practicality of the situation. Had you asked for 10 years down the line it would be more relevant and feasible option to even predict something . Well just for the sake 100 years I dont think any of this altcoins will even exists since something new will emerge for sure.

Although I agree with everyone on bitcoin holding the most value my original question was more about which altcoin would fetch the most money based on novelty, history, and nostalgia.

Speculation on actual worth isn't what I was looking for. More like which altcoin would fetch the most based on historical value and rarity. Like a comic book, or one of the first books ever printed. Most people are just looking at it as money, which is fine in our time. But others will want it years down the road to get a piece of money history. And not to mention programmers love looking at old code.

If you can't understand what I mean, think of it in terms of coin collection now. Some of those coins don't have much actual worth to them, but the historical value is much higher. You have to think about it in terms of collecting rare items from history. I bet a wallet from any altcoin would be worth money 100 years from now. Just think of how much effort it would take to hold that wallet with a password for 100 years. Having no other nodes isn't that important since that in itself would lead to rarity. If you have one of a few altcoin wallets in existence you aren't going to worry about using it for trade. Nobody buys a 30 year old Apple computer for thousands of dollars to edit a 4K video.

Dogecoin isn't my vote, unobtanium is.

i think it will be bitcoin but i am imagine that bitcoin having something new like bitcoin made splitting into a little part so to collecting satoshi into 1 bitcoin it is really difficult and the bitcoin will have a higher value for collected. by the way, after 100 years, i don't think that we all are still alive and see what will happen because our ages is not too long to see until 100 years from now.

It depends imo. Litecoin will need to keep getting developed. Is Litecoin still getting updates? will they get lighting network and sidechains too? They need to keep working on it if they want to be the real silver of crypto, otherwise it will keep stagnating to 0 just like the rest of alts.

I can't even be certain whether bitcoin is still around 10 years from now. British Pound used to be the reserve currency 100 years ago and look at what it has become now. Bitcoin is still new and you never know what will happen in the future especially in the world where things happen very fast.

I would like to ask the same thing too on LTC on which they will really need to focus more on their development in able to recognize by people and investors but still its really good that it could able to withstand for longer years as of now on which LTC is still standing and its not actually a totally useless alt. Bitcoin could able still to survive on next 100 years together with new cryptos for sure.

majority of the altcoins won't even live 1 year.
most of the altcoins won't be around after 2-3 years.
only 1 or 2 altcoin will survive for some time and they will eventually die too because they are all bad.
if a new and good altcoin comes along it may be able to survive a longer time but in 100 years all will be dead even bitcoin is not capable of living 100 years. the technology in that long is not even comparable to today the same way today's technology is not comparable with the year 1900

In terms of how long those altcoin live. honestly LTC is oldest altcoin and i think it can be more stay long because many site are accepting litecoin as payment even in some site not only bitcoin is acceptable but they are also accepting litecoin as payment in some stores also dogecoin those are the common altcoin online that actually live long.. that i think it can live more long..
