Post by: moonrock on December 09, 2016, 11:33:54 AM
Hello everyone,

For sale:  "Limited Edition Bitcoin Knife"

These blades were custom made early 2015 in a limited release of 20. I have 2 of them here. Make sure you turn your brightness up to view the patterns/shine.

Listing for 0.25 BTC Or on the nearest offer. Will have them up for a week or so unless someone flicks an offer close enough.

Knife specifications:

Total length: 9.75 inches
Blade length: 4.5 inches
Knife Weight: 13.5 ounces (this is a very HEAVY and SOLID knife)
Handle material: Solid Brass, etched on both sides.
Steel type: Damascus made with 1095 high carbon steel and 15n20 steel
Damascus pattern type: Raindrop pattern (over 200 layers of steel)
Details: Vine Filework on Knife Spine (the top edge)
Sheath: Genuine Black Leather. Included.

2 Knives to go!

The blade is truly amazing to hold. It is very heavy and powerful and looks like something you would find in an Egyptian tomb buried amongst the kings and queens.

The opened blade has never cut anything. It has enjoyed itself perched amongst my physical coins. The craftsmen purposefully did not hone the edge to a razor point so if you would like to do so I recommend getting a professional to do it.

If you don't know what Damascus steel is you should research. It has become very popular the past 2 years https://www.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=damascus%20steel and has been around for hundreds.

-Hunting/skinning

Although you can probably do whatever the hell you like  ::)

So is this knife still available since nobody bid on it?
It is an open auction or a closed one?
The knife looks cool by the way. Something from the wild west. ;D
I would of bid on it if it was allowed to post to my country. ;)

Yup this is the problem I faced with bidding.

I would have loved to add that to my collection of crypto stuff - but there was no way that would have got past UK Customs.

Unfortunate, moonrock.

I can still sell them but the Auction has now closed. If enough people want it to reopen I can do so. Check your countries stance on knives, there are actually very few in the world that don't allow it.

Actually UK customs would not have a problem because it does not fit into the category of "Banned knives and weapons" or "Offensive weapons" Take a read. This generally covers concealed blades, flick knives, auto opening, stealth blades, gravity knives and disguised knives - https://www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives or import regulations -https://www.gov.uk/guidance/import-controls-on-offensive-weapons#importing-knives-swords-and-other-offensive-weapons-into-the-uk

I haven't found a county that would not allow them yet but I can't research every country. I know that the disclaimer spooked many but its just a necessary component. If anyone can find some place they can't ship to I would be surprised.

This knife is not the kind of fixed blade they want to keep out. This knife is a fixed blade and would be treated the same as a kitchen knife. On the customs form I would put "collectors knife (fixed blade)". There should be absolutely no issue with that.

If I may ask what was the price the knife was sold for?

Price: 0.5 0.4 0.35 bitcoin each

The original batch was 0.6 BTC I believe, but it was last selling for 0.35 BTC.  I have one also (the one from the magazine article) and it's a great blade.  I still keep mine very close at all times...

I plan on carrying mine with me everywhere.  I'll let you know when I get arrested or provide pictures if I ever get the opportunity to use it in a self defense scenario.  ;)
