I was hoping this wouldn't inflate into a full blown South Sea-esque bubble, but we are already there.....thanks in large part to the Asian gamblers, I suspect. Be careful what you all wish for and be ready to get out before it explodes violently. I am now convinced this could go anywhere ($1000s, $5000s, etc) now that fever, mania, greed, and delusions have completely taken over. I would be a fool to even attempt to call a top at this point, but only a bigger fool would think this is sustainable. Say goodbye to your currency; I only hope BTC can recover and maintain utility. This is the purest bubble the world's ever seen. Title: Re: What did you do when price passed $ 200? Title: Re: What did you do when price passed $ 200? Post by: Manticore on April 09, 2013, 12:40:41 PM Don't be so simplistic with your bull/bears nonsense.
I own bitcoins. I am involved in bitcoin related start-ups. I love the utility of bitcoin and do believe it is an innovative platform that heralds something big (bitcoin, or something similar). I am a former bull. I now think this could now easily go higher ($1000s, $5000s), which I suppose is a bullish statement. However, I am not delusional. There are bears, bulls, and wild hyenas. The hyenas have taken over the asylum. I would have loved to have seen a steady rise in bitcoin throughout the year. I hope I'm wrong and this is a 'snowball' as some have said. I was looking for a steady gain throughout 2013..... I've seen this before and I tend to underestimate the exuberance of the masses. Even in 1999 (I was very young but trading), I knew we were in a bubble but that didn't mean I didn't profit from it. The people who got wiped out were the true believers, the ones who thought we were going up forever. Know that this is not some kind of 'new normal'. Be a bull, but don't be a stupid bull. Know that this cannot last forever. It works until it doesn't, and then there is a day of reckoning. Have your day in the sun but know that there will be night. There is no way to know when the Asian gamblers will get tapped out..... Title: Re: What did you do when price passed $ 200? Post by: shkiser on April 09, 2013, 12:51:17 PM manticore can you tell me how the asian gamblers are moving the price? just curious. Never heard that b4 now.
Title: Re: What did you do when price passed $ 200? Post by: MaTachi on April 09, 2013, 12:55:20 PM Started to pump for 300! It won't take many days with this adoption rate!
Title: Re: What did you do when price passed $ 200? Post by: Manticore on April 09, 2013, 01:01:40 PM manticore can you tell me how the asian gamblers are moving the price? just curious. Never heard that b4 now. Many, many Asian gamblers are buying in with little knowledge of the underlying mechanisms of bitcoin. They think they can double and triple their money. If this frenzy continues or gets bigger, which it could, they could easily push this to bizarre heights.... As I said in another post (I believe in BitcoinTate's original prediction post), the best thing for speculators who want bitcoin to go up, up, up, is not a big mover to come in and start buying indiscriminately, it's for 1000s of small buyers who are using fun money to essentially gamble with bitcoin. Title: Re: What did you do when price passed $ 200? Post by: HappyBitCoinUser on April 09, 2013, 01:44:16 PM There is like bazillion asian peoples and if they are dump money into this blindly expecting profit, then yeah price of BTC will go into $1,000's or even $10,000's !!!
Title: Re: What did you do when price passed $ 200? Post by: bowen151 on April 09, 2013, 01:50:31 PM Sat back and rejoiced quietly like the rest of us bitcoin megalomaniacs.

There is no way to know when the Asian gamblers will get tapped out..... I agree, took you for not only a bear but a fear monger but i took you wrong. I wanted to invest modestly and see good gains like 250 in october. not now! I agree that there is no way in hell thiss will sustain and it will go down, no for the moment i also agree t hat it could top 5-8k but not much more. if I see a 5k and drops to 4k ill probably sell. but the truth is there is a fuck load of money in the world right now and if people want to keep pooring money in this thing its going to go to the moon. but there will be something> government puts the kibosh on it, hacking, better alt, emp, monster attack, that will tear it down. im a modest bull. but enjoy the rise for sure. |
