Last year, if I remember correctly, bitcoin spiked around Christmas time. It's that time of year again, and are you guys ready for some volatile action? Well I am!

I'm expecting the price to jump to almost $900. How about you?

I am in Yuletide spirit! ready for green last weeks of 2016 ;) $800 is target 1, which I expect to be hit fairly easy.

Ho Ho Ho, it would be nice.  Lot's of people are leaning more towards a jump once Trump comes into power for some reason so anytime around Dec/Jan would be decent.

Yes i still remember how is the price up before Christmas and I am very exciting to wait what is going to happen in this Christmas, i am already excited to see the price keep on rising before Christmas, this year the price will be really great, i am expecting around 850$, I think 900$ is a bit difficult, and I am in Christmas spirit, I am going to exchange my bitcoin or maybe purchase using bitcoin for my holiday supply

Looking at bitcoin potential right now, it's not far fetched for the its price to jump to over $1000 by early next year and probably hit $1500 mark by the end so long as the current trend in demand will continue thus making it a very attractive investment for all who has interest with it.

I think it was 2014 when price drops also when it was near Christmas. Good thing that 2015 made it jump and then this years price looks promising. I'm not hoping that high tho, maybe around $800.

That would be a nice Christmas gift, to see the Bitcoin reaches 900$ or even more. But still 800$ is more realistic at the moment and we could reach that price by the end of the year. I'm optimistic, trends are positive for Bitcoin so the price should be steady on its way up. So, let's enjoy Christmas spirit.

Yes I am ready for some action, this is the first Christmas for me with bitcoin. My expectation is even low because I was just expecting that the price will going to reach $800. But you are giving me some hope that the price is able to reach up to $900 and I hope it is going to happen before the Christmas eve or New years'.

Expectations are indeed provide something that is so useful to our lives, but it is necessary that it should be noted that it all could just make us have a bad life if we can't control ourselves. I think though when price bitcoin not touched $800-900 I suppose it is not something bad, because we can still get these prices on the day after that

Every year  i feel the christmas spirit ,but not this time cause i fell something good will hapoen to bitcoin in christmas eve.
And we will wait for it. It will be so exciting and breath taking moment to all bitcoin holders.

im actually having a feeling that we could actually get $1000 barrier per bitcoin and im happy if it could stay as is like that because it means theres a lot of investors having an interest in bitcoin. still this year is the best than last year because we actually hit the $800 barrier per bitcoin and we should happy because it already happen who else sensing that bitcoin could actually hit $1000 ? maybe this christmas or next year maybe june/ july still waiting on that time :D

I am also expecting some movement but not that high like $900+, if there will be another small pump it may take price to well above $800 making $800 floor for next year.

Not sure it will jump to almost $900. If we see the history last year price movement that's not really volatile when nearing the Christmas. So my expectations is around $800 or more and if we see the latest price chart it's stabling high-low around $15.

The price can fluctuate a little, but I don't think Christmas will have an incidence on the price. I think on the contrary the price will stay stable and will continue to claim to reach the 800USD in January.

The best is to wait and see after Christmas, always hard to predict the future ;)

I don;t feel that the price will hit at 900 value i am satisfied what is the price of bitcoin right now and if we are lucky that the price will touch at 800 value i think it can be possible soon. so if you are holign large amount of bitcoin get ready your bitcoins before you sell soon..
This is what happen last year.. before the christmas the price is increasing that i hope it can be still increase more..  this month..

For me, I am not that jolly about the volatility. I was not able to buy and save enough coins to maximize the profit from this volatility. I only have a few coins to trade when the time comes that we hit that magical high number. I really wished I bought coin the time when bitcoin just suddenly dropped by more than 20%.

The true spike was three(!) years ago. When holding Bitcoin you should always be prepared for insane volatility at any time of the year. But that doesn't affect you, if you are a true hodler. Hodling Bitcoin leads to a supreme peace of mind: You simply know you bought the best currency in the world. Short term movements hardly change your mood.

The long term prospects of Bitcoin are very good. The currency will appreciate against all fiat debt currencies. It will be a bumpy road with lots of drama, bubbles and subsequent crashes. But you simply have to look at the big picture: The best form of money will prevail.

I've been waiting for that moent when Bitcoin is 1000+. But I am a realist and understand that this Christmas will not happen. Perhaps it will happen in a few months

I don't expect that Bitcoin price will rise radicaly. And I don't sure why mostly have very positive feeling about btc price. Maybe it will reach $800 and I think that this year bitcoin price rised enough. Now I think it's more important that price will continue to rise slow stable stable than bump in short period.

Yeah, honestly, I think $1000 is way too much. Besides, why should we (bitcoiners) be happy about such a spike in price? Everything that pumps fast, dumps faster. So, if bitcoin price rise from $780 to $1000, it will crash to $600s maybe even $500s, something good for buyers, but not for investors, as the price will take much time to reach that $780 again.

It's not too much. Look how much the price is rising. It has not stopped from rising ever since the halving. I even think it will rise up till $2,000 in the next five years. This is why I am stacking up and saving bitcoins waiting for this moment. Especially there are a lot of rumors that a lot of big companies trying to adopt bitcoins. If a big company does adopt bitcoin there would be a chain effect that would make a lot of big companies follow the leader.

It's definitely climbing steadily, but I don't know for sure whether or not we'll see anything special coming from Christmas this year. Maybe, just maybe, we'll see something in the mid $850s, but I don't know how much higher it is all going to go beyond that.

The volatility has me excited though. Looks like it might get fast very quickly.

with bitcoin you always have the Christmas spirit since it is always hot and that is why i have had it for the past 2 years that i am using bitcoin. even when the price is stable i am excited because i know i can accumulate more an specially when price goes down i am ecstatic because it means a good chance of buying even cheaper coins and i have been making profit in all this time.

Yes i remember it last went the price up in Christmas, not only you my friend many people are waiting for it to sell for Christmas needs, many people are eagerly waiting to jump the price. Because most of the people will be at all holidays so many people will be concentrating on bitcoin.

I wont expect too much on bitcoins price regarding on this matter that pumping its price because its okay for me to be on the current price because if it pumps to high it will sure dip its price back again even lower but still i dont think it would happen again on this year since i do observe on the bitcoins price movement it does really have a good support and resistance and sudden spikes of price would not happen but still theres a possibility.

Bitcoin is getting close to 800$ and many threads about that it's gonna be Christmast present to all users if bitcoin reach that point. I'm orthodox and we celebrate Christmas on 7th January, and I'm more sure that around that date bitcoin really will hit the point of 800$ per 1 BTC.

I would not be disappointed if bitcoin would stay around the price it has at the moment.
The price already climbed a lot this year, and I wouldn't want any bubbling effect to happen.
Recovering from a burst bubble usually takes a lot more time than a solid and steady growth does.

Yes too much .i have working hard to spend that money i sould get from bitcoins so that i can buy the necessary things with and a bottle of shampagne with it .spending time with family just would be awesome.

Well thats a good move on which you do purchase bitcoin with your fiat since we do really believe on bitcoins potential that its price will surely soar up on the near future but regarding on these days i dont really think that it could able to rise on $1k on the year but next year it will happen for sure since adoption is really increasing.

I highly doubt we'll reach $1000 by Christmas. There's no logical reason why the bitcoin price  would spike with a huge 30-40% rise in the next couple of weeks.

Every year price increase happens big during the days close to Dec and mainly Christmas. Last year the continuous increase started from the year end which continued for a short term of 2016, after which a sudden drop in price took place. Based upon that I believe bitcoin is expected to reach $800-$825 and not much higher than that.

Not actually spike up since it's already part of the rally that happened back then. After that price decrease happens and I think it's a start that continue up to the first month of the next year and some unexpected events follows that resulting for a much price decrease.

Im not expecting much this coming Christmas for a jump since no basis as of the moment. A big news and people's response to the current price will be the one that will push up the price and not because of Christmas season.

Anytime more people are at their computers its more likely we go up vs down.  Winter = up and summer = down % chance wise even though that has not happened this year.  Xmas is my best time of year to trade, cant wait till i get a break in january though, thats a proper holiday for me.

Bitcoin is on increasing price line, but i don't expect a big increase on Christmas time, if it happens users could sell some bitcoins to buy christmas gifts and wait lower prices to buy bitcoins another time. I think that an spike could come from a devaluation on some fiat coins, or other monetary politics, but not because its Christmas.

Some may expect to get Bitcoin as a Christmas present, but the exact price may increase to slowly increase again thereafter... With BTC exposure it takes lots to be lowered due to extensive publicity.

It's expected to confront this as an investment so don't ruin your holidays purchasing a worrisome amount.

Me @ $800 is more real to be happen. I really dont see how will bitcoin increase that price. But we all are expecting that to be happen. It will be a good gift to me it its happen now. It was Dec of 2013 when there's a huge drop in BTC price, from $1,082 USD on December 01 then dropped to $655 on December 25 2013 that's a $428 drop or 40%. While on December 01 2014, BTC is being traded at $377.63 USD then dropped again to $324.94 or 14% on December 25 2014. At least on December 2015 there's a jump from $372 USD on December 01, 2015 and it increased at $455 or 22% on December 25 2015. i would be a happy camper if I see a 15% increase by Christmas eve :)

I cant remember the last time I was excited about Christmas the only thing to be excited is just the day off work and to meet friends and family and do the annual ritual. I haven't find my way into Bitcoin as at the last Christmas so I wouldn't know if there was a price spike to rejoice about but since I am here now, I will look forward to it and enjoy the benefits it brings in addition to giving me one more reason to rejoice about Christmas.

I think that people in 2013 were in desperate need of money for the sake of christmas and fortunately the price was so high that they don't think twice to sell some of their bitcoins and the current trend also attract those who worried about the falling of the price and because of that the price were falling down very fast. too high price sometimes bring fear, but let's see what's will goin' on in this christmas. maybe we'll following the current trend which is buying

In 2013 there were not enough people using bitcoin to sustain the huge market cap and so the price dropped very soon, but now we have a lot of people interested in bitcoin and a lot of investors I think bitcoin will be easily able to sustain any price that it reaches around this Christmas, I'm expecting it be around $850 maybe more.

Thats not a desperate need of money but only a normal thing to do by a trader/investor when high price points is already reached,securing profits is a common move.You are right sudden price increase on bitcoin does really give some fear on rolling back its price to its lower state but as i saw on the current state of bitcoin i dont think it will pump or increase its price the same on previous years.

The possiblity are pretty high since the price has already crossed the 790 dollars and its a matter of days the coin reaches $800 .Since the price rise is slow i think the price will move in that range in the coming week.I dont expect a sudden rise or dip with the way the coins are moving.

I don`t expect $900,maybe around $800 is more likely to happen.

I am, and Ive been watching a bunch of Christmas movies on purevidz.net since yesterday and they're putting me more in the mood minute by minute.

The past statistic could affect the current trend. maybe people thinking that in christmas there must be some price rising because a year ago had been happened. so they will buying bitcoin as much as they can and the demands are more than the supply so the price will increase. maybe it's right that price increase will not happen twice at the same time but the it have the possibility to happen

I was hoping that bitcoin will reach 1000$ by Christmas this year but i guess my hopes were too high, the price usually gets high before Christmas because everyone who saves their bitcoin all year long just to spend them on sales in November so we have a price peak around this time.

$800 will be reached for this 2016 ends, I guess jumping into $900 is impossible but then everyone is looking for that, so if hits $900 then its a big and great reward for everyone here.

that's right your expectations were too high and it appears to be really impossible to happen, because we only have few days left before Christmas day and the price still at $790 so it's really impossible for bitcoin value to jump to $1000 price value . $800+ is the only price that we can expect .

It doesn't really makes sense if you keep thinking about unrealistic price levels to happen in a very short time. The only result that this will have on you, is that you'll be disappointed time on time again. I suggest you to invest a bit more time into knowing how markets work.


Important to realize is that the price is already on the higher side, so in that regard, there is not much more that you can expect to happen. It's not realistic either. Just look at how much time it costs to eat through $10 worth of sell orders to make us finally reach the $800 level. It looks easy, but it's far from easy in reality. Especially when you consider the possibility of triggering heavy dumps at the time we reach $800. It's not for nothing that we haven't reached $800 yet. ;)

I could say I expected more than $900, probably at least $1,000 to end this year with a big bang. However, we cannot see the future so we are just hoping now that it will happen, though this year will end 13 days as of this writing, I am still very positive that miracles can happen. So what we can do now, is to remain positive and always hope for increase of price.

Well I do not expect that bitcoin will have a price ranging 850-900$ before the year ends but I hope that it will reach these targets even if it is just for a moment. I also hope that bitcoin will reach new all time high on the next halving on 2020 since the last halving for me this year was not quite what I expect it to be but its good. For now all I can say is that I'm in the Christmas Spirit.

Christmas Spirit? Hmmmm... Maybe, lol. If i have a lot of bitcoin then yes i'm feeling the christmas spirit since the price of bitcoin is high now and i'm sure those big investors are chilling now because they already made a lot of money from their investment in bitcoins. But, there still a lot of time to save bitcoin so next christmas i will feel the spirit on that time ;D.

To bitcoin hit the price of 1000$ would be the greatest preent to all users1 But it is almost impossible to happen. The price dropped a bit during this night as I see. Now it is again under 900$. But i am sure bitcoin will cost 1000$ very soon, we just need to wait a bit.

Well we're in the future and $900+ and there couldn't be a better time for this as now that I'm in the Christmas spirit.

The literal christmas , Celebrating the birth of Christ , Preparing foods , Exchange gift and party . I didnt feel it in personal. But in bitcoin at the month of christmas , i feel it very much because of the price of it , Price.of bitcoin barely reach 900$.

Yeah you are right but if you don't have money then you can't enjoy the christmas with your friends or even families. Can you eat without having food on the table? I guess no, So money is always a must. If you stop caring on money then you will end up starving and after a few days you will die. You can't live without money. You can't live by just having love from your family or friends because love can't feed you. That is only my opinion.

I feel the same way, I do not feel the Christmas Spirit. I lost my sense of Christmas. While my expectations on bitcoin is very high Christmas has become normal. But if bitcoin has reached 2k dollars a week before Christmas then my Christmas spirit will be alive. Though my expectation on bitcoin is not met hope the price of bitcoin will rest on 1k$ each.

It probably will in the near future, With more and more interest in bitcoin and more attention from media to it, (see reddit) new people are getting interested in it and will buy it. I speculate that the price will rise to around 1.5k by the end of 2017, and that the price will steadily increase over 2017, I really dont expect any pumps, except if there is going to be a centralized currency crashing. However with all the political elections coming up, who knows what's going to happen?

Those expectations are too much and its really hard to believe that bitcoin price would rise to 2k$ before Christmas but we failed and those hopes are broken because we didnt even pass on $1k price on bitcoin but still im glad that it is able to sustain its price on $900 price which is already high compared on previous weeks or months.

the last time that I've checked the price it already hits $906 value but as of now it slowly drops again to $900 and it seems that it getting slightly steady on that price . actually at first i didn't expect that bitcoin will reach the current price and now that it does I am hoping that it will hit $1000 price before the year ends or after the first few weeks of January 2017 .

Your right on your speculation about what will happen this last month of the year. The price already went up at 900$  so 1000$ will be next price this 2017. Hope that 1000$ price will not be last high price of bitcoin.

much better to aim for more price increase because we are not very sure if after the price drops to $700 it will jump immediately up to a thousand dollar price value and it's very impossible . for sure it will be a big loss to some investor and users as they've waited for a long time for bitcoin to jump up to its current price .

I don't really give gifts to myself, but it's likely that it would be better treated as an investment than an impulse buy. Nobody else in my family is into cryptocurrency so I'd rather give something better instead so it'll satisfy holiday savings.

This year I haven't felt this typical Christmas spirit. Somehow I don't feel the atmosphere and because of many bad things in my life I don't feel joy. But this whole good and positive situation around Bitcoin we could say this was good Christmas for Bitcoin and all users. Let's hope this will continue in the future too.

So this thread is near to be 1 year old already and again holiday season is coming and Christmas is the most awaited season every year. People get more money during holidays so for sure it will make the price of bitcoin pump again and I've seen a couple of times and last year is a good one because the pump started at the very end of year. And hoping that this year it will be also the same and will be pumping quicker.

Last year I already knew bitcoin but I am not involve to it at all. About the price, we are not so sure that it will happen again. Definitely I am in the Christmas Spirit.  Comparing last year.  The profit from holding and earning bitcoin is 4x higher.  Who is not happy on that?  Aside from that  thre are lots ofproject where we can participat in the alt section and in the service section of this forum  That is an additional income.    And  we always feel the christmas spirit if we have a good budget in our hand.
