What are you complaining about?

"Disk is cheap!" Even smartasses who don't operate their own nodes can find 4TB drives for $50.

Not complaining, it was just around 20 GB last time I checked that's all   ;)

wow. it increases. probably it is because of adoption of bitcoin increases either. it means that bitcoin users also increase which impacts the popularity of bitcoin. cmiiw.

you can make the photo in screenshoot anyway because the photo is not so clear when I saw it at the first time.

Desktop diskspace is cheap... If you're running dedicated servers and keep your data on a SAN, diskspace gets pretty expensive...

For example, this 2015 article:
http://www.crn.com/news/storage/300076997/hp-targets-enterprise-flash-storage-with-1-50-per-gb-pricing.htm

in 2015, HP was targetting $1.5/Gb, for 150 Gb of storage, the cost would be 225 + backup + maintenance + power +....

I also thought it is around 80 gb but it is more than i have imagined. Are you running this on your desktop or in remote server. I am planning to host node in my old desktop, how much time i need to download whole bitcoin blockchain with 1 mb/sec around download speed?

I would not know for sure, what actually takes time is not the download, but the verification.

Today the space storage are so cheap, 104Go is not a big deal. You need to be sure that you have unlimited bandwidth to download it from your ISP, in my case I am only limited to 20Go.

Where I am high-speed internet are pretty expensive and if you want the unlimited, you are going to pay the premium in order to have it.

Yes it is and it will get bigger as the time pass by so you should ready your storage for that . Don't worry, Compared to the fees in banks buying a hard drive is cheap cause you will be managing your own money, your own bank . It will be worth it

i wonder how long i can download the full of blockchain with my slow internet connection and how much quota that i should spend to see its completed? i think the size is less than 100 GB but i am wrong, i can not imagine how big data in the future, i think i need more than 3 days to complete downloading the blockchain.

So what makes it bigger and how big will it be by 2020? That would take days to download the blockchain.

lol
if your using bitcoin on a third party server service your not really thinking much about decentralization, distribution, diversity.

save yourself some money. if your running a bitcoin business/service. just run bitcoin from home/office and have it API/RPC call only essential data to any needed 'dedicated server'

try not to run everything from your 'dedicated server' and just use it as a mid gateway.
the benefit is that your GUI/website connects to the server that then connects to your local system. thus adding an extra step to avoid hacking and also ensures you dont have privkeys on HP servers.

thus not only saving costs but adding extra security precautions.

Bitcoin users and bitcoin adoption is the main cause why blockchain is getting bigger and bigger and expected to increase even more. The last thing i saw is just 20 gb and now it increased to big and for upcoming years it would be become more bigger for sure and would consume too much space on our hard drive.

No surprise you're astonished, you haven't been checking it very often :D

Bitcoin won't crash as described, if it is to crash then during the days of continuous false information's from the top developers it could have faced a failed situation. But bitcoin has overcome several such scenarios. So these itself indicate how strong is the technology.

only 3 days? lucky you. and there simply IS no option for me to go faster where i am in the sticks. 1.5 mbits/sec 3G wireless here, but at least its unlimited quota. would take weeks/months for me to re download from scratch. only reason i have the whole blockchain at all is i started in 2011 and kept it up ever since :)

consumer disk space IS cheap and the blockchains are among my backups because it would be inconvenient to get it again. got the btc blockchain backed up like 5 different places, including off site.

i did have to put the blockchain on 256 gb ssd of its own though. the previous 128 gb was getting cramped. i suppose its a waste of a ssd but i like the speed when verifying or reindexing.

bandwidth is the limiting factor for many. storage drives are everywhere, reliable high speed internet is not.

so it means you'll be needing a high-end computer which has a large capacity on its internal drive because blockchain is like the universe it is expanding and because we can see that the file size is increasing .

I use some old 500GB hard drives that I bought second hand from a guy working in a computer repair shop. The people upgrade and then he

buys the old hard drives for next to nothing. They sometimes give it away, for the labour... when he upgrades the internal hard drive for

them. { They want one single big drive for some reason }  He has loads of drives, so I buy his surplus drives.  ;D ... You do not have to buy

new drives... old drives are just as good.  ;D

yep, it is very big and there is no incentive to have full node up and running.

You're right about that.  ;D I only load up the node once every month or two, and it's probably been a year since I checked.

Yes, but bitcoins blockchain is less filling than other blockchains.
