K, I ain't watchin' that video till someone vouches for its sanity an' safety.  But you know them black-ass marketplaces isn't trustworthy to begin with.  None of these places is, an' we seen that with Gox, Cryptsy, all them escrow scams up in here, an' a buncha other stuff to boot.

Shouldn't surprise no one thet they scammin'.  Everybody here do, it's like.

I think the OP may have jumped the gun on this one a bit.
All i could find during a quick search was some talk about alphabay being down for a couple of hours but all is up and running fine now.

I deleted tor long ago because i wasn't using it so if anyone here has it then check it out for us, is alphabay up or down?

So was it down for just the 2 hours or is it still not back up?
The posts I read showed some users complaining about downtime but saying it was back up, I'm sure I cheddar the dates and it was recent. Will look again if still down.

Jeez, site goes down for a couple hours and people immediately think exit scam? I get it, there have been past instances that make folks a bit jumpy, but it is not like a darknet site can just tweet out an ETA as to when they will be back online.

Even if it is an exit scam I am not surprised. After the exit scam of evolution market with 12 mln dollars in bitcoin value this one will not make a surprise to me.

Personally I don't think it's an exit scam rather a change of address. FBI and NSA are after them so a bit of mixing is always needed in the dark net. They have been down before 2-3 days or even more than 1 week, but history has shown they have always been back online.

I hope is such case again as they are one of the major markets if not the major for the moment in the dark net.

Whenever a darknet site is down is no longer active for a while, everyone thinks about an exit scam :P
But it's still understandable, after Evo's.

what do you expect from darknet sites ?

Why do you even deposit large amount of btc or buy high value items on deepweb ?

Do you think they here to grow their business and compete with amazons and ebays ?

These sites are a mafia and they are bound to exit 9scam) sooner or later and come back again with an new site

The site was down for about a day and they totally upgraded their server infrastructure. Everything actually loads much quicker now.

Whoever is running this site is making millions in fees. They are making much more by keeping the site up than a one time exit scam.
I would say its much more likely they get shut down by Law Enforcement than an exit scam.

That makes sense, actually.  I don't know the figures, but I'm sure all the stuff they sell is extremely lucrative and the site wouldn't shut down just to run away with the money.  It's like a drug dealer intentionally robbing good customers.  Having said that, I'm definitely not pro-dark-markets.  That crap panders to the lowest form of humanity.

They are on FBI radar..even if they want to run the site,FBI will close them sooner or later

FBI has only luck in closing such sites when the owners of such sites do stupid things (i.e put the server of such site in USA). That is what Silk Road original owner did, put the server of the site in North Carolina and boom he was busted, named Ross Ulbricht. However people who knew how to defend themselves (i.e someone who was always in contact with Ross was never caught).

Having said that, Evolution  market did a scam exit for 12 mln USD in bitcoin.

In the end I agree with ThePharmacist that dark net usually puts together the worse human garbage of our society.

Honestly, ANY site - darknet or clearweb - is just as trustworthy as any plasce that isn't within arm's reach.
Anywhere that someone can make a quick buck by stiffing other people, regardless of whether it ends in .onion, .net, .com or .Ilooklikethehamburglar will be used by such people to do the most stupid and most heinous scams.
The fault lies not with any part of the internet, the fault lies with people being scumbags.
If that wasn't the case, then there'd be no "scam accusation" subforum on any site on a .org domain.
