Title: [For sale] Dual Quad-Core Raid 10 24GB ECC RAM webserver
Post by: Dropkickdragout on June 15, 2011, 04:26:39 AM
Hi all, My server isn't paying for itself so i want to sell it off before it depreciates any further.  here are the specs.

I built it with THIS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816152097) Barebone kit.

I used two of THESE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117234) Processors

It has 4 of THESE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136697) hard drives

Also it has 24 GB of THIS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139268) RAM

I didn't buy it long ago and its in great shape, only thing is it has no DVD drive so the OS has to be installed from a flash drive (or you could spend $40 and buy a drive, it has a place for it.)

I would ideally like to get $1500 USD in btc for it.

Also the hard disks are in raid 10 & it has centos installed (i can put whatever you want on it for you)

Honestly, I'd give a relatively new used server value of about half the original purchase price.  Not many businesses want to buy used because of the lack of support that comes with it.  They want something that works, and if it breaks, have someone out there in a matter of hours to fix it, on the vendor's dime.  With a used server, they don't get that luxury, so it's worth a lot less.

So 50% of whatever you paid for it is my answer.

5btc comment aside. The sarge is right. Infact most buisnesses dont even buy anymore but lease instead. Just like a car, it breaks, they swap it

Well that's more than just a little frustrating.  I paid 2250 usd for it and was hoping to get 1500-1600 back for it. Crap.

I disagree with them, you should be able to get around $1500+ as long as you can find the right customer.  The demand for these servers is limited to say the least.
