Title: I want my Bitcoins surgically-placed inside my body.
Post by: John Henry Eden on June 15, 2011, 05:10:59 AM
I need a method, a doctor or some way to get my Bitcoin private keys placed inside my body, in a manner that won't cause it to reject the object. I also would not want it to be easily found by x-rays and whatnot. What kind of specialist would I need to see?

I don't know, but why don't you just bury it or cement a safe to the ground like a normal person  ;)

Interesting. I can see reasons for this. Who's going to bother looking for your money in your flesh?

it might sounds like a good idea to some people, but seriously, watch Demolition Man WRT biometrics before making your body worth more than your life to anyone. lol

You can do it, check this article: HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microchip_implant_%28human%29)

You can definitely do it..although to hide it from an xray?..difficult..

Ive studied the whole of human anatomy and yes theres plenty of space for a microchip..

xrays would reflect of the microchip and it would literally light up on the xray result

If you got this, I would possibly kill you just for the bitcoins.

Memorize the private key for a single address, then send all your bitcoins to that address, then import the private key to a new wallet when you need to use said coins.

Seriously, would be easier than surgery.

That's very risky. Memory can be very volatile. One mismemorization of one number and *poof*.

Yes, yes indeed...

Include a checksum?  :D  I kid, I kid.

EDIT:  Ok, new option.  Encrypt your private key, then have it tattoo'd on your body somewhere.

If you're captured, your captors can find the data and extort the password out of you. With it inside of you, its avoided altogether.

Not to be totally vulgar but my breast implants have a serial number on them already. No reason a doctor could not write something else on the shell before insertion.

As the story goes, Histiaeus of Miletus sent a secret message to his son-in-law, Aristagoras by tattooing the head of a slave then letting the hair grow out. Doing this with UV tattoo ink using a simple transposition cipher might be an option.

In Heinlein's Friday the protagonist had a surgically altered belly button that served as a sort of marsupial pouch. A gender reassignment specialist could, as with an artificially created vagina, use skin grafts to create deeper cavity, which you would then gradually stretch out daily with a glass rod until it could store either a USB stick, or some radiolucent object etched with the Bitcoin code.

Invasive surgery ?
Autopsy ?

P.S.
Best make yourself fatally allergic to interogation like those guys in Miles Vorkosigan...

That's avoided if you don't go blabbing about your Bitcoin implant. Otherwise, the whole entire point of the surgery is defeated.

Wow, isn't your stack of knowledge impressive? Transhumanist, eh?

Some type of biometric encryption for your wallet file might be the simplest solution before you go jamming electronics under your skin.

Well, all you need is a QR code with a private key. Nothing more advanced than that.

Time to get a hypnotist to bury it into your mind all those little keys and codes.. but you better trust them as they can get it out any time lol - Casey

Nothing a strict non-disclosure agreement can't handle and maybe a death threat. Hahaha.

That's taking Bitcoin to an extreme - implanting it into your body. At least wait until you think that Bitcoin will stay around for sure. Then, think twice before really doing it.

I guess you could engrave the keys in a titanium plate and replace a chunk of your skull with it for example...

This is an example of what limiting newbies to one section of the forum does :)

If it is for smuggling operations, I recommend you swallow a micro-SD card (triple bagged in latex of course).

When you arrive at your destination, find spicy foods and prepare for recovery of wallet.dat

what about writing wallet.dat into your genome? there's plenty of junk DNA inside it already, this would put it to good use! a biotech start-up anyone?

Ah, you want it not be easilly detectable...hm, how about engraving the keys as QR codes in a little piece of somthng and then embedding that inside a fake tooth that got lots of metal fillings to hide the signature of what is inside?
