Title: [Ended] Complete collection of Pokemon cards (+/- 4000 cards) - NOT SOLD
Post by: Blaater on December 16, 2016, 08:05:36 PM
Hello again,

As mentioned in my other auctions I'm cleaning up my house to make room for new projects and other things to do. Including in this clean-up is my complete collection of Pokemon cards.
A photocollection can be found here (beware, lots of pictures, not for those on limited mobile bandwidth) http://imgur.com/a/TQ3Qo (http://imgur.com/a/TQ3Qo)

I've thought about the normal and the collectibles section, and in the end I found it was more of a collectible thing as there are quite a few special cards in this collection.

All cards that are in my possesion are including in this auction, even the cards that I charish the most. The cards range from the Pokemon base set all the way up to the latest sets including the special 20th anniversary limited edition set.

Selling these cards one by one would get me a bigger sum of money, but I rather have the entire collection be gone in one bid, makes things a lot easier as to selling card by card.

There are lots of special cards, but the one that I value the most is the Skyridge Charizard card. http://www.trollandtoad.com/p182787.html (http://www.trollandtoad.com/p182787.html)

About the merchandise:
  • I guess there are about 4,000 cards, could be more, but I feel there are definitely not less then this amount
  • Around 95% are in English
  • Cards are real
  • Most cards come in a sleeve (there own personal condom)
  • Some cards come in a hard-cover sleeve, over a normal sleeve, over a tight fit sleeve
  • This collection must have costed me atleast way over €2,000 to collect, I'm not expecting this amount to get in return, but this will give you an idea of the possible worth if you plan on selling individual cards
  • All boxes, maps an sleeves etc. you see on the pictures is included in the auction
  • Not everything is on photo as it would be too much, but this adds to the fun of unpacking and seeing everything that is collected
  • Included are 600 sheets (in original unopened packages) of 9-pocket pages to use for the rest of your collection
  • Conditions of the card varies all between absolute mint and damaged

Sending: Insured and tracking, I'm guessing the total weight would be somewhere around 40 kg, so it might come in 2 packages, depending on what is cheaper. Shipping costs will come added to your bid.

Start bid: 1.0 BTC
Minimum Increments: 0.01 BTC
End date: Friday, December 23rd, 2016 at 23:00 Central European Time (UTC+1)
Accounts: Jr. accounts and up only, or come up with some form of proof that your bid is for real.
Escrow: No problem, Escrow by mutual trusted party. Buyers fee.
Sniping: Any bid in the last 15 minutes of the auction will extend the auction for 15 minutes. First bid will extend the auction untill 15 minutes past the whole hour. Every bid after will end the auction 15 minutes after that bid time.

I am from Europe, Holland but I can ship worldwide. Added taxes might apply outside the EU.

Do you mind giving some sort of backstory on how you accumulated this massive amount of cards and how long it took?  I would imagine a lot of time and effort went into building this collection and it seems like your starting bid is more than fair.  :)

So, I may be interested in placing a bid, however, other than the Charizard card, what else is there with a value of more than a dollar or two?   I don't know too much about these cards but would likely buy them in an sttempt to sell cards individually.

Well this is right up my street, I will have to think on it, I am low but easily provable genuine account, Hardy Goods Limited is a real UK company, I have delt in trading cards (I have just sold 60 boxes of yu-gi-oh cards on ebay.

just wanted to voice my interest as I am a low account standing right now.

No problem at all.

I think it started (again) about five years ago. Both my girlfriend and I enjoyed playing the pokemon games and she is a Pikachu fan (you know, the cute little yellow rat). We came across cards in a flee market and started collecting them. About 2-2.5 years ago we started collecting cards like crazy from places like the dutch Ebay. Searching for special cards, searching for cards from the first generation and cards that were now banned or very rare, and going to flee markets to see if there wre mothers selling their childrens cards for waaaaay too less money.

Just under a year ago we had the idea of starting a pokemon cards webshop (even the domain name is still registered http://www.pokemon-cards.eu/), but it was taking too much time to set it up and it we never launched it.

So, I may be interested in placing a bid, however, other than the Charizard card, what else is there with a value of more than a dollar or two?   I don't know too much about these cards but would likely buy them in an attempt to sell cards individually.

Yes, special cards like Full art cards, break cards, and even a banned original japanese 'Naked Misty' card is in the collection. There are also older base cards that go for a decent amount (~30 dollar each) cards like Blastoise and Charizard. I think there are a couple of those in the set aswell.

When I was pricing the cards for my webshop I was pricing the normal holo cards at €2,50 (I'm guessing a couple hundred cards), and special cards going for a lot more. I've tried to make pictures of a lot of the special cards individually, they can be recognized because they are in hard covers, or the following pictures:

I honestly can't give you a good estimate of what the revenue would be selling all cards individually, it would take both time and you would have to like doing it.

Noted!

Blaater, thanks for the details about how they were acquired.  It sounds like most of them were purchased with the intention of being sold so I would expect the quality to be better than the average collection.

Are there any doubles?

Sorry missed this question.

Yes there are doubles. Both in cheap simple cards, there are also a lot of useless energy cards that are worth nothing, but also some better cards that are doubles. Cards like base Mewtwo is double.

The "avarage" collection is hard t guess. The quality is definately better then collections not owned by people who care. But a lot of cards are also bought as guesses and hopes of there being a rare cards in a bulk buy from fleemarkets, these cards are generally not in mint state (or anywhere close to).

But yes I am 'proud' of the collection I assembled and I think there are a lot of cards with a good history or contrary, new cards from newer sets that are just still sought after.

I'm glad he likes it. I feel like a happy 10 years old aswell when collecting these cards.

I'll keep it in my mind and give you a shout if there are no bids eventually.

I only now realize I have not set a sniping rule yet.

As there have been no bids yet I will introduce this rule as of now.

Sniping: Any bid in the last 15 minutes of the auction will extend the auction for 15 minutes. First bid will extend the auction untill 15 minutes past the whole hour. Every bid after will end the auction 15 minutes after that bid time.
