Title: End of FaucetBox
Post by: jack_sparrow on December 18, 2016, 02:17:12 PM
According to FaucetBox, on their page (https://faucetbox.com/en/closing), they're ending their activity. Tomorrow (12/19/16), according to the announcement, they're disabling their API (which means faucets using it, just like mine - http://btcemfoco.hol.es/?p=faucet - will stop working). With the end of FaucetBox, you believe faucet activity will continue? Because with few exceptions, most of faucets run under a model "FaucetBox like", even talking by my self, I'm not prepared yet to run fully a faucet with the whole structure (and I'll take a time for that). Which will be the "new FaucetBox" (if it is yet proftable to run like them, because if they're closing, it muts not be being worth financially). What is your thought?

Well, faucets were never too profitable for anyone. Faucetbox themselves probably didn't make much like you said. They were nice, I started my bitcoin journey with a few faucets there, but otherwise I don't really think it'll affect me. A lot of faucets were based on that site, though, and those faucets will start losing views and money as well, starting a domino effect.

I don't think I ever used a faucet, but I know they issue tiny amounts of bitcoin.
I assume the increasing transaction fees these days will ensure their demise at some point.

alternatives will be growing.
There are already few alternatives to faucetbox before this announcement and also few added after this announcement.
Some of their alternatives are;

However they have also stated that they will continue working on their famous faucet script and may come up again in business after few month with better business idea.

BTC faucets are history, earnings from faucets are low and no one want to spend time for some hundreds satoshi earnings. May be some people are interested, who spend all day in the Web, but even then your profit per day is very low. Faucets are just for fun BTC users, who just earn some satoshi.

Faucets does have something like 20000-100k unique views, soo there stils a group of people focus into them, sure in the last years bots made faucets owners close before or with a loss, i cant say faucets are a waste, since i found bitcoin and started at one faucet. Some people are able to make 100-300k daily with them, since its free, only requires a bit time, there are milions people trying to get an income online, even knowing faucets arent the best way. I had used faucetbox it were a good project but not able to stop bots, but since adsense banned their account it turned into a big waste of work i believe, because they had traffic, usually a project dies with adsense when people forget to support it.

you say earnings are low...ok
how much is low for you...
Earning  (to live) $1000 per Month is low for ones and high for other ones...

And for you what is low for just a claim who takes few seconds?

I was started my bitcoin journey with faucet and of course, people just get a small income from faucets and I really think that a waste of time to claim satoshi from them (if you just do it alone and no affiliate system).
I've stopped claiming free satoshi after 1 month and started to make my own faucet (Get income from advertising system) and my faucet just last for 1 week (and the fact is there is not much money from it). Otherwise, you can get up to 5000-10k unique views per day and that good for your site rank.

So, in my opinion, faucet owner will need to make a faucet for first 2 months of their website and when it reach to the wanted position in rank, they can change to another function.

I sad that Faucetbox is closing. But good thing that there are few alternatives for it. Faucethub opened just few weeks ago, but already have more than 100 bitcoin faucets on it. ePay.info in past month improved their service a lot and their still improving. They have experience, lot of faucets, so it's good alternative. Faucetsystem.com is fresh service and they are less popular, but they have really good faucet script.
I thing closing of Faucetbox won't have negative impact to faucets industry. I think that more serious kick for faucets was Adsense bans and faucets (not all) surived it. And there are lot of bitcoin adnetworks opened, and faucets owners can found way how to keep their faucets. Offcourse, they can't pay same like in Adsense era.
I see future of faucets
