Title: Where can I learn about altcoin?
Post by: PacePay on December 18, 2016, 08:58:56 PM
Hello everyone,
Suppose a person want to start a coin for one of his service (like for my PTC site i want to start and pay with my own coin) and I do not have any knowledge about running a coin then where I have to go to learn about all the terms and factors used in that. I want a complete tutorial about running an altcoin successfully?

I want to know about any lesson where I can learn about the different things like nodes, premine, blockreward and all other. I want to start learning them all from now and I want to become an expert in cryptocurrencies. I am searching for a place to take that knowledge.

I think you need to search on google you will find any place for that learnings or you need to ask any developer he may help you to learn these things. Try to visit more to altcoin threads and read them and their discussions you will get some info.

I think you should hire a dedicated developer for your coin if you want an innovative one, anyway there's a lot of coin developer in the service section and they offer after service support, you should concentrate on it's usage and to make it a popular coin, there are so many coins in the market the problem is usage of the coin.

definitely hiring a developer for your altcoin project is the best option right now but if you have some basic coding and the alike you can easily adjust and learn from established crypto coins

if you want to use an altcoin as a payment of a service or job thingy, they let me tell you that your idea will fail hard. because things like PTC that you mentioned here are bad as they are right now with payment of fiat and bitcoin. and because of that few people are using those offering fiat payment and even less are using those offering BTC payment, be sure that no one will use a PTC site with altcoin payment.

with that said, if you want to implement a payment system in your site, you have to run that altcoin wallet and write some code to generate addresses, and do the payments automatically, you can find tutorials for bitcoin and use them for that altcoin you have in mind.

I think everything on this forum already equipped for we know about bitcoin or altcoin. If unclear, you can ask for anything more specific. Never tired to read, because of the very extensive and dynamic altcoin.

You can learn a lot on this forum. Register also on medium and add some topics you will like to read, most of these altcoins use medium to get news of their project to investor, some of their tweets are redirected to medium. You can also google alert any of the altcoins news you need an update on. learning takes time and require dedication.

i think OP didn't interested on hiring a developer of coin for himself because as you can see based on hist post. He already owns a ptc site and that means he have a knowledge about programming and other computer knowledge staff. he just want to know where he can get a source of knowledge or tutorial on how to create alt coin.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i recently search on google about this matter when i'm interested on creating my own coin, i will PM you once i browse it again.  ;)

So basically, you want to create your own cryptocurrency? I don't want to ruined your desire project but is it really a big deal if you will start a crypto for purpose like the one you stated? Prior to the development of your coin, think that in order for other people to use your PTC site, the coin must be popular and really has a good feedback for almost most of the people. A success run for a coin will really have a hard time to achieved.

Anyways you need some of this to acquire good currency.

- An own community forum. Yes a standalone one and forum like bitcointalk.org will just meant for advertising purposes but not as the main discussion.

- Must be mineable (at least)

- Acceptance by most of the people

I read PDF some time ago about full tutorial in starting, establishing and developing an altcoin. As of Im typing this, Im trying to locate the web where I saw that file .Since Im not that interested much in that kind of thing I didn't save it. Just want to note that Im not sure if it's "FULL" tutorial but the page consist of around 10 or something pages IIRC.

If you are going to launch a coin for your ptc and will not promote it here and you are not going to launch an ICO we can support you for that, but if the plans is to generate funds and launch ICO I'm afraid it will be bury like all altcoins listed in the altcoin section.

It will be ok for me to hire a developer to create a coin but I want to learn about different things with which I will handle the coin. Just like for running a website we need a domain, a hosting package/host and a website script and that is controlled from the admin area and from the cpanet and database. In that way I am curious that how will be a coin handled?

About that only developers can guide you well as they have their coins and not other people but others can teach you about terminology used in altcoins if you want and you do not know about that. Almost everyone is miner and altcoin investor here.

You mean you need the requirements for running a coin? then you can ask that person on whom you are creating your coin and the other option is that you go to altcoin announcement board and ask from developers that board is full of developers or you can invite them here to post on this thread so that others also learn about that.

yes I want to know that what are the requirements for running a coin. Is there also require any database and any admin panel for running a coin or it is totally a different way of running a business.

I am already in contact with some people for learning it and if anyone will know about any developer who will like to provide the info then please invite them here.

If he hire a developer for that then before taking the control to him the developer will teach him all about how to handle that coin and what are the requirements for running the coin. He have to go direct to a coin maker for that case.
