I don't think it's possible to replace a laptop's GPU.

It's not recommended to mine altcoins with laptop. Laptops are generally more expensive than PC of the same spec and quick to break because of overuse/overheat. So your laptop is more likely to break before you can get enough profit to replace it.

I'm not really an altcoin miner, but you should be able to use an external GPU. Not sure if any of those would deliver decent hashrates tough...

Any Laptop with a GTX 1080 can do it but there are better options for less with a desktop.

external GPU set-up requires five basic items: a laptop, a desktop graphics card, an external display, a PCIe adapter/board to house the card, and a separate power supply for the graphics card .
(maybe better just build a complete pc ? )

The question is what connections is available on your laptop . (ExpressCard , usb 3 , Thunderbolt 2.0 ... )

You can find some necessary components on this website : http://www.hwtools.net/eGPU.html

There is one eGPU setup via thunderbolt 2 , with build instructions and parts list :  https://odd-one-out.serek.eu/thunderbolt-2-egpu-setup-using-akitio-thunder2/ (https://odd-one-out.serek.eu/thunderbolt-2-egpu-setup-using-akitio-thunder2/)

You can learn a lot about eGPU setup on this hardware forum : http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/diy-egpu-experiences.418851/
