So about 2 years ago I bought some bitcoins. 200 coins. I had some spare cash I raised from selling ARM shares. Forgot I had the coins in a wallet on my old laptop. Just booted the laptop up, saw the wallet, thought Id' log on and see if bitcoins was still around.... my coins are now worth £25000 LOL

Surely there are others in my boat? And think of all the other people who have still forgotten about their coins?!

yea, i bought 5000 coins a year or so ago and remember recently that I had them.

Congrats and all, but are you sure broadcasting the idea you've got money is a good idea? I mean, yeah, it's spent on a car, but someone could still get into it if they really wanted. Just a word of caution. Also, due to a lack of foresight, I should have chosen Pessimist as my username. Better safe than sorry especially when it comes too money.

Just a correction, so its time to buy very cheap now, only one thing i hate and its mtgox lag - they should invest in better ddos protection

Don't tell me you spent all £25k on a car?
It's a good thing you cashed out when you did, but the way things are going today you could've spent that cash to quadruple it in a short amount of time, once this fall settles.

it seems that the buy/sell functions of mtgox is frozen; either the servers are swamped with requests from a suspected DDOS attack or just mtgox trying to freeze users from selling. My theory is that this is a repeated tactics/ploy for hackers to bring the BTC value down so that they can buy at a much cheaper rate.

Kinda in the same boat. Bought in during spring of 2011. Forgot about bitcoin after the crash, just now getting back in. Looks like there was a massive correction just now as well. Have to see if I can get my mtgox account verified and funded to profit from this.

Seems to be recovering after a massive drop of over $100!

Reading this makes me wonder just how many forgotten BTC lays around in people's wallets. Just think about it...

Actually I cashed out 50%, so no I'm not now, but I'm holding the other 50% for at least the next 10 years, will buy back in on any double digit dips.

Curious why other people don't buy on other cheaper sites then sell on mtgox.

I forgot about bitcoin for about a year... but I left it as USD in Mt. Gox and not btc  :'(
