Since you used a service that sends SMS'es, i suppose you've been using an online wallet?
In this case, i would personally suggest following steps:
1) make sure your computer is 100% clean, no virusses, no keyloggers... If unsure, ask for help, or boot from a clean environment
2) contact the online wallet provider... a transaction is irreversible when it was included in a block*, especially if other blocks were mined on top of the block containing the thiefs transaction, but the online wallet might at least block the ip of the thief, if you're lucky. Usually, they won't offer a refund, since they assume it's always your fault when your account gets hacked.
3) switch to a desktop wallet, make sure your computer stays clean
4) move the rest of your funds (if any) from the online wallet to the desktop wallet
5) you might want to change the online wallet's password, altough it should be empty (step 4)

If you cannot succeed in keeping your computer clean, maybe a hardware wallet is something for you?

* actually, a transaction is always instant, and cannot be reversed... However, there are some tricks you can use as long as a transaction didn't make it into a block. In your case, however, it seems like all transactions to the address you've specified have already been confirmed, so there is no point in discussing this.

No, like i said in my explanation: "a transaction is irreversible". The only "tricks" you can use work as long as the transaction wasn't confirmed. In your case, the transaction IS confirmed, so there is nothing you can do about it i'm afraid...

The only thing left to do is damage controll and making sure this does not happen again.

Since the thief had access to your account, he either has access to your computer, or he brute forced your password (this is common if you re-use the same password on several sites). A last option might be that the wallet provider stole from you. Which online wallet did you use BTW?

in case the thief has:
-> access to your computer => make sure your computer is malware free
-> brute forced your password => change your wallet's password
-> is the wallet provider => move to a desktop wallet

It would be common sense to clean your computer, change your password AND move to a desktop wallet just to cover your bases.

I'm not really familiar with the use of blockchain.info's wallet, but if you mean that the SMS is used as a 2fa, you're probably right: somebody might have gotten their hands on your backup wallet.
This means that some place you used to store your backup was compromised...
Either your PC, but it might also be your cloud storage (in case you used cloud storage to store your backup)

I dont use blockchain but do they have the option to activate 2FA, if yes then activate it immediately and not only in blockchain but everywhere where is the opportunity.

Check your pc and make sure you clean it as has been suggested to you. I would advise you to shift your coins to another wallet. I have been suggest you coinbase or xapo but just search here and you will find many details of wallets. Make sure you change your passwords, and i hope you have not used it on a public pc. Be careful with your btc.

Theres nothing you can do about that. You should clean your pc or smartphone with your antivirus regularly. Virus can get all your details including your password. It acts like a keylogger which store all your private details. Bitcoin transaction is irreversible and im sure theres no one who can help you with this. Just be careful next time.

Maybe you can send a complaint letter to blockchain.info, how it is possible to entering your account and stole your btc when you use sms code for the security.

if by "entering my wallet" you mean like 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) then there is no way a hacker could have gained access to your wallet without having access to your phone and receiving the verification (second password via SMS) token. and if he could bypass that, it wouldn't be your fault and instead blockchain.info's weak security. but I doubt that.

also did you only lose 0.01BTC and have the rest of your balance still or was 0.01BTC it all your balance?

Those wallets are worse than blockchain.info in matters of security. I dont know who suggested you those but do not use them unless you are dealing with micro transactions and want to avoid fees, just use a desktop wallet its always a better choice I would recommend electrum.

How many balance do you have in your wallet, if you use blockchain.info's wallet I'm sure that you will be notified when someone open your account through email verificaton, with that issue maybe someone  got your login information with that email. But if you activate the 2fa of that account I'm sure you can also recieved a text message if that thief logged in. And there's no way he got your private keys from that wallet service because they don't have that feature.

If you are using blockchain, then the thief also have access to your email account. You cannot use blockchain in a new device or new IP without granting access to it first through a link sent to your email address. Like what they said above, you should clean your device from malware and keyloggers. And avoid accessing  your blockchain on public computers or public wifi connection.

The above addy is a destination of your stolen bitcoins ?

blockchain support will not responsible for your hack. They are just a service and an authority. (Hope you know that there is no central power in entire bitcoin system)

Your wallet must not touch with internet or limit your internet usage. It could the way to tranfer your files and private detail like your social media accounts, email and ofcourse bitcoin. You must use antivirus to scan your files and other applications which are prone to malware. You cannot do anything to return back the btc stole to you. You better move on now. Better reset all your password. And make sure that you have a running good antivirus and scan hour pc regularly.

Blockchain do have 2FA, i'm using their services as well sometimes and i have activated 2FA there and i never faced any problems like OP is mentioning that someone have sent 0.01 btc from his wallet to an address, maybe as someone already said that the guy might have had his backup wallet.

One reason why web wallets aren't to be trusted like blockchain.info. You may want to use another wallet, a more secure one like a desktop wallet like electrum. Make sure your computer is clean and not infected with some kind of malware or virus. You may want to check if someone else have access to your email that you used inyour blockchain wallet and better yet make another wallet and send your bitcoin in it and secure it.

I think so. it is rarely to hear someone with 2 factors authentication is hacked, after all you use codes sent to your phone. I assume it is not only because your computer is not clean, but also your phone is probably not clean too. so the hacker has access to your phone.

well I do not have any idea how to return the stolen bitcoin, but you can send a message to blockchain.info.

I was just wondering how many of these "claims" that bitcoin was stolen are actually for real? I mean... anyone can transfer some bitcoin

from one address to another and then "claim" that it was stolen. I am not saying that this is the case, but I think shills might use this as a

method to discredit Bitcoin. < Not that Bitcoin are to be blamed, but still... >  ??? ???

it was like a dream, there's nothing I can do, because BTC has been sent to the address that is unknown to me. Well, it happened just as I logged in with a different laptop, and I thought I was having bad luck at the time.
maybe you can not get back the bitcoin has been lost. but, I'd have to clean your laptop, and create a new wallet with the highest defense and use 2FA

Never had such situation. Maybe you have your computer or laptop infected so someone has access to your wallet. Online wallets are risky so this may happen any time. Lucky for you the amount isn't big but someone has maybe just testing to see if the thing will work. If you have more funds there I suggest to move them in another more secure wallet.

Once the transaction has been confirmed then there is nothing you can do about it . The only thing you can do is to prevent this from happening again . First is clean your PC using your antivirus . Then Activate the two factor authentication, when this is activated, hacking it will be difficult cause they must have an access to your phone. If you're planning to move your funds . Avoid online wallets  . Pick a wallet that gives private keys like Electrum (PC), Mycelium (Android)

Unfortunately, I doubt you can recieve the money back, because nobody has the information to whom the wallets belong. You better change your password, clear computer from viruses and that's it. I think you can only try to draw attention to that guy, you know, maybe it somehow was an accident. So you can send to this wallet a tiny amount of money yourself and see what happens. Maybe the owner will decide to send you your money back.

Download better wallet, move your bitcoins in that wallet and you solved your problem. You will not have problems like that in the future.
I use multibitHD and I have very positive experience. Very strange that this happen on blockchain.info wallet, I thought they have much better protection.

0.01BTC is only $7. Be happy you lost ONLY $7. The first thing you need to do is to change all the passwords and add as many security measures as you can. I got around 4 passwords for my wallet - the hardest one is required when you want to send money while the easiest is required to only get in the wallet account. That means nothing can happen to it. So far so good - no incidents yet.

Also, how have you accessed that address? You would need to check any computer and phone it was accessed from to make sure you were not compromised.
Change any passwords from a clean computer and enable 2FA on any account you can.

I think you can't do anything this time, the transaction has been confirmation on blockchain, what you can do is just for further as the previous post on this thread keep your PC/Laptop clean, if you still want to use online wallet better to activated the 2fa but if you have many Bitcoin on your wallet better is to use dekstop wallet like electrum or buy hardware wallet, this is to make your Bitcoin save and on high security

blockchain is very secure, but only if you enable all of the security features.

you must enable the email to verify, then make sure you have a secure 2fa enabled gmail account.
then enable the 2nd password.. this must be different then your site password, also make sure your gmail password is also different..

then when you log in, you will get 3 security checks..

one blockchain will send you an email with a link. two you must sign into gmail with 2fa, and three you need the 2nd password.

the only possible explanation for your bitcoin loss is you used a public computer and never de-authorized the computer or ip
or you used a pc/browser that stores login details and your friend all he/she had to do is visit the wallets site and click login and transfer the btc

Lol no, you can do other than take off your bitcoin go, this be a lesson to you that the wallet would not be so safe, you have to add some authentication in order to secure your wallet and avoid haccking

That might be due to system error or malware error in the computer. Blockchain wallet is highly secure and has got highest trust rate comparatively. Even if such thing happens too, it'll be solved in a short by the support team if a ticket is created based upon the issue reported.

Using any currency can be risky and expose your wallet to anybody. Even physical wallets can be stolen as easy as you can be hacked. There are many victims of hacks.. Just because they do not think about the possible negative sides of using different apps. For example I got my money stolen from a gambling bot, because the version I downloaded was rigged.

I think it because he she in needs and need that amount of money and didnt get all of his bitcoin or the problem is you do give your credential to others and you forgot thet you give it because they need that qmout of bitcoin

There is something very strange about the situation, because it seems the OP did already send some coins to that address previously.. so he should probably know the thief (if there is any). ???
⬇⬇⬇

This sounds a little strange.
From all I can see, the 0.01btc were nearly the complete balance op had in his wallet.
Who would want to hack a wallet for not even 8 dollar?
Besides: on october 24th, there was alreay a transaction from the wallet op has to the one the funds went today.
If op knows to whom he sent the money that time, he would have his thief.
I agree. This is really strange.
This address received .01, on Dec 20, 1bMbxGMqzeDdC9yBz9Sj3Rofb2ghcTfRt from
this one 1EcexGSNJGqYSsVxwaZ6Q5UrreWrDHLK8d(OP's) but looking at the transaction history, OP has previously sent coins to this address Oct 24? What's up with that?

Anyway, if this is real, just clean your PC, change your passwords and switch to a desktop wallet like Electrum.(with 2fa)

Better to use 2fa if your using online wallet, for now you'll already know some one is using your account so be much careful.you cannot do anything about the amount already been sent but you still have time to secure your account so it will not happen again to you. Maybe some one near to you is watching and waiting for the right time to rubbed you so be careful who you trust.

Try to avoid using Online Wallets.
My experience using them is awful.
Try to use a desktop wallet, they are far more secure than Blockchain Wallet as long as you keep your PC clean from viruses and other stuff like that.

Or if you really serious about protecting your bitcoin you can buy a hardware wallet, hardware wallet has gone cheap when compared a few years ago. You should be able to afford one :)

if you mean blockchaininfo, that site is not secure mate, better to use a local wallet, like core armory or electrum, but this one is centralized and i don't like it, you didn't lost too much so see this as a lesson, and your back up wallet will not do anything the trasnaction is confirmed already he have your money

Lol no, you can do other than take off your bitcoin go, this be a lesson to you that the wallet would not be so safe, you have to add some authentication in order to secure your wallet and avoid haccking
i think it is not such an easy task, but you must have shown some more carelessness, i think you need to be more careful about your wallet key, as it is only possible if some one have your wallet key and he can use it.

Also, is OP sure he didn't get drunk or something and make some deal/ buy something online?
Since its an address you have previously sent money to apparently, you may have done business with this person before.

Unless someone has an automated script to send small amounts of coin from an address at certain times,
which seems like a very strange way to steal coins. You might as well just take everything at one time, to be honest.

I think the only thing you could do is try and move the rest of your btc into another , and try and sacn your pc for and malwares because apperantly the hacker knows your wallet password and probably will come back for more, the best wallet is Xapo they have high securtiy system, if someone logs in from a differnt ip it sends you a verifcation password that you have to enter in order to log ing via SMS.

I think blockchain has the highest security features since it also uses SMF features that also sends s verification code to the number thst you set everytime you will log in via website. Your address in every transaction will automatically change. And you can not capture an screenshiot in blockchain. Hence this feautre is the best for me

My advice for you is to switch to another wallet because apparently the guy that used it to send that 0.01 btc will come back for more ,and there is no way you can retrieve them so your best option is to send your money to another wallet like Xapo they have a system that send you a code via SMS that you have to enter whenever you need to send money.

if by "entering my wallet" you mean like 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) then there is no way a hacker could have gained access to your wallet without having access to your phone and receiving the verification (second password via SMS) token. and if he could bypass that, it wouldn't be your fault and instead blockchain.info's weak security. but I doubt that.

also did you only lose 0.01BTC and have the rest of your balance still or was 0.01BTC it all your balance?

I think so. it is rarely to hear someone with 2 factors authentication is hacked, after all you use codes sent to your phone. I assume it is not only because your computer is not clean, but also your phone is probably not clean too. so the hacker has access to your phone.

well I do not have any idea how to return the stolen bitcoin, but you can send a message to blockchain.info.

i sent message to blockchain but they didnt responsible

He wrote the address above was the one where his stolen BTC amount has been sent to, so it means it is not his wallet address, but the receiving address of a thief.
Sso it makes sense that there is only incoming transaction. :)

Weird thing about it is the amount of the transaction. I wonder if it was the whole balance of the wallet and if not, why would the thief transfer only 0.01 BTC and not all, when he had an access?

something doesnt make sense..

you do know that when you send funds now with blockchain it sweeps your wallet and sends the "change" to a fresh new wallet address..

it may make it appear you got hacked, cause you send a tiny bit like .005 but your whole wallet will get drained down to zero and sent to an address you have never seen before..

to see these address you go into address and show the used ones.. you should have a few of them in there.. perhaps you didnt notice.

also, if you clearly have 2fa enabled, and a strong password on both blockchain and email.. its almost impossible to hack someone..

unless perhaps you used their mobile wallet on an old phone and didn't restore it?? then they would just need your pin number and 2nd password if you choose to enable that.. which i recommend.

I am glad it only took a loss of 0.01 to learn the lesson and not thousands. DO NOT USE ONLINE WALLETS!!!!! I mean it from the bottom of my heart and soul. Unless YOU are the only one with the private keys you are using to sign, they are not their coins.

Maybe its due to all the scorpio in my zodiac chart, but I do not handle the risk well of anyone else holding my private keys for any reason. If I transfer funds to my bitcoin debit  card, I do it in small lots at a time. For long term storage:

Use either

1. If you must use online, a coinbase multisig vault, remember your passphrase and keep the paper backup of the vault safe. You still have control of the keys due to the multisig set up. Plus with the paper backup user key + shared key coinbase can use the user key to restore your vault without your passphrase by  combining with their key (it is a 2 of 3 multisig). If they go bust, then use the user key and shared encrypted key outside of coinbase to move your coins. If they are hacked, they wont have your shared key due to the passphrase encrypting it which coinbase servers never see.

2. A ledger HW1 wallet (£20) keep the seed safe as its your backup, set it up on a trusted computer only! and no malware can get at the keys they are stored inside the device. The seed has saved my bacon once, treat it like a 'paper' wallet and have multiple copies stored securely.

3. A TREZOR Wallet (£80) same thing, with a screen authenticator

4. Electrum Multisig using a HW wallet to sign, or the 2FA electrum wallet.

5. A paper wallet (more inconvenient)

DO NOT FOR ANY LARGE AMOUNTS OF BTC USE AN ONLINE OR BASIC DESKTOP WALLET! I use a ledger wallet, I add the addresses as a watch address in electrum so I can just  send money to it easy without having to plug it in and I only plug it in when I want to send funds from it, and use an electrum wallet for a 'hot' wallet.

Hardware wallets are the way, seriously. Even better than paper wallets in my opinion as you can store multiples with the same seed, and the seed acts as a 'paper' wallet in and of itself.

I beg of anyone reading this, hardware wallet. (Ledger, Trezor), I implore you! The more people do this, the harder it is for a hacker to steal hard earned funds... Do not use a black arrow hardware wallet, probably has a backdoor in it after what they did to their customers...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1455319.40

Use of 2FA for exchange accounts, multisig vault in the case of coinbase and HW wallets (as I signed transactions while infected before I realized), saved my bacon, I am not kidding, for me it was so much money, money I later cashed out and used move in with my partner I am now engaged to.

I am considering asking the bitcoin core developers to add recommendations like this in the documentation, its time this bull ended now and it  could be greatly reduced if such measures are taken, yes we shouldn't have to do it but it is better to do it...

I use a non HW wallet (electrum) to handle small amounts of daily change from the pool and every week or so I move it to my HW wallets. I use my same hot wallet electrum seed on both the mobile app and the desktop app so I have fluid access to my funds on my devices when I need it the most but I do not keep more than like £40 on one of these, encrypted with a passphrase! If I needed more and I was stranded somewhere, the ledger wallet can be used on any machine with google chrome without admin access if you can install the extension or with the USB adapter.

Many phising sites are now spreading online targeting many bitcoin wallets of the unsuspecting users. With the recent price surge of bitcoin reaching $900, every wallet holding a large amount is the primary targets so be always wary of some sites that are looking dubious.

Using an online wallet was the problem in the first place why use another one? Use a desktop wallet and if you must have an online wallet in the case you need to buy something while you are out of your home then keep only what you are going to spend that day and if you don't then send it to your main wallet.

My suggestion also same use desktop wallet it is safe. Don't use any online and mobile wallets. And once you log in your wallet after finishing your work just clean your cookies. This is very importent. My friend also lost some coins like this someone hacked his account, he does not transfer that coins to another account he just played some games and lost all coins. We can not trace that person. So be care full when you are using online wallet.

Sadly, we can’t do anything once we lose our bitcoins, but we can always take precautions to avoid such circumstances. I haven’t lost any bitcoins so far due to hacking or mistakes, but I have lost in gambling and other experiments like trading.

There is a lack of enough security awareness among bitcoin users, and that’s why such incidents take place. It is own responsibility to take care of safety measures while holding funds. There are too much information and educational article on Bitcointalk itself to have in-depth knowledge about security.

You are right, anyone can claim that their BTC are stolen. I think this is gonna be a problem when BTC will be accepted by the government as a form of exchange.
First is there are many scams, thief, fraud and any other crime that the paper moneyis involve, so this crimes will be chronic when BTC will be accepted as a form of money because of its freedom itself. And what I fear is that when that "freedom" will be use in immorality.
Yup there is a big possibility that these claims are just a technique to damage the BTC itself.
When the world gives humans something that make us comfortable humans tend to be carefree and that carefree attidute awakens greed in others.
We must be extra careful on our btc.

There many possibilities why was your account hacked. Maybe the attacker is on the same network as you or connecting through to your wifi and hijacked your account. There are also other possibilities that there is a malware in your computer that's stealing your user data so better clean it or format it.
I suggest on using Two step factor authentication and contact support of that online wallet you are using right now to block that ip that made the transaction
Once a block transaction has been made it cannot be reversed all you can do now is be very cautious.

And now you have said that when you have checked your bitcoin address, that 0.01 has been transferred to that bitcoin address?, I don't know what advice am I going to give to you because I don't know which is real between the two statements that you have said, but if the case is that someone just hacked your bitcoin wallet address and then transferred it to his account, then you can't do anything about it, because you can't turn back the processed in order to get back your 0.01.

All you can do is to accept the fact that its gone and change your bitcoin wallet account password, though making another new one is more better.

is there any way to contact with blockchain's support?

look at their site and you'll find

but they won't return the money if was your fault

That's correct, once the transaction has been made in the blockchain there is no chance to recover it anymore, all you can see is the last thing you do in the blockchain. So the lesson here always double check or secure the things before doing the transaction or whatever it is. Why don't you try Electrum wallet, or multibit hd.

Yes, he can catch you typing your password during your login, or he can even hack your mailbox, but getting a number code which changes every 20s from your phone? I just can't imagine how they do this. ???

I think he has downloaded some junk files on the internet which contain malware and trojan. And because of that fact, his account is easily be attacked and vulnerable to hackers. 2fa can be stolen if the users are not careful. Poor that guy.

I heard that when authorization can occur, a site-double. But it's scammers. You must carefully look at the address before granting access permission

Yes, I understand how they can get your passwords and login information, but my question is - how can the 2fa "be stolen"??  ???
To turn it off or to change it to a new device, you need a number code from your confirmed mobile phone. To send coins out of your wallet, again you need that code, which is on completely different device than you pc and it changes every 20s.

I'm not sure how this is possible if you had 2fa enabled as the attacker would need to have access to your phone as well as your password.

It could be that you signed up to a fake trading site (the name is not mentioned) and that they then scammed you out of your Bitcoin, or that you accidentally signed up on a fake version of the trading site which you were trying to use with a very slightly different title, in which case they could have taken a deposit and took it to an external wallet, leading you to believe that you had been hacked.

It could even be that your click on a phishing link was on your phone, meaning that they infected your phone with a virus that was capable of finding your 2fa code as well as your password when you sign in to the website, but that seems incredibly unlikely and difficult to happen so I get the feeling that you made a mistake and sent your Bitcoin to the wrong site.

Still, you need to be more than "careful not to view any link that will steal my btc".  You need to be very vigilant and think about each link individually with virus and url checks etc.  You also need to have a system for spotting phishing links and a set of criteria for what a legitimate site is like and what information it provides.

only 0.01 BTC quite small but has a valuable experience, if it's like this you should avoid transactions and store them online, or do not use IP wifi when transactions with bitcoin, also check your hardware or device, it is safe or menace .

That would be really dangerous, 0.01 or even 0.001 is valuable not in the aspect of amounts but in a way that it can be hacked or steal. That's the problem that we must not let slip. These small stuffs when added together is big and if we always try to slip these things it will became a habit. Imagine if 0.01 can be stolen what then a much bigger amount has a high risk of being stolen too.

First things first is that the security must be on ourselves. The advices is already been said by the members of this community, just applied it to practice.

Indeed I have never experienced such situations, but we can solve the problem if it is true if the online wallet are very risky so it is possible the virus infected can occur should not save large amounts if it does not want to lose all should move to a more secure wallet, because in that way to protect while the amount we have

Every time you will open and use your bitcoin account make sure and check your computer if it has a virus or none. Computer viruses may be dangerous for your bitcoin account. another is when you open your bitcoin account at public computer shops make sure that you logged out before leaving the computers because someone may use your account without your consent.

It's strange to know that this is even possible.....

With online wallets trust me, anything is possible. I would wish all Bitcoin enthusiasts should get a laptop only desktop and have the entire core downloaded so that you keep your private keys to yourself. I think that's more secured than having someone or a company hold them for you.

Having your own laptop PC or whatever to use as a means of storing your Bitcoin is typically safer than what anyone else or any company could do, but that's only if you keep it offline and make an effort to keep it safe. Most people don't want to have any kind of electronic device sitting around. While companies aren't exactly perfect, they aren't anything to scoff at either. They do offer things like 2FA and so for users, and they don't leave accounts open.

is it possible that he have my backup wallet?

I'm not really familiar with the use of blockchain.info's wallet, but if you mean that the SMS is used as a 2fa, you're probably right: somebody might have gotten their hands on your backup wallet.
This means that some place you used to store your bac
I use blockchain.info, and yes, it is possible to get a backup that can be restored without doing anything on the blockchain.info website.
First I would recommend running an anti-virus scan on any device that you've used your wallet on (if nothing comes up it may be time to use a different device or factory reset the one you were using). After that be sure to make a new wallet (could be blockchain.info or a different service) and transfer all of your remaining BTC (if you have any left) to that new wallet and stop using your old wallet (it is now compromised and somebody else can spend anything on it).

I guess in that case you can't do anything about it, I think accept the fact that you did mistake on it. Even you report what what happened to your concern it will never be return at all. Just next time be careful and do what others here gave you advised on your computer for you to avoid that to be happen it again.

Setting up 2fa verification is always suggested or must have because with this setting you will surely secure your wallet from any hacking attempts since they cant bypass a wallet without it specially when you do use online web wallets. Its advisable not to forget on enabling it just like mine even though I have small amounts of bitcoin better to secure it first so that no one could really steal It from you.Sorry for your loss op
