Title: [XMR] Monero is one of the few altcoins that has been keeping its price up.
Post by: Herbert2020 on December 21, 2016, 07:32:06 AM
during the past few weeks bitcoin price has been rising and it created some kind of falling (dumping) effect in altcoin market where almost all the altcoins out there have been falling in price.

all other top market cap coins like ETH, LTC, ZEC,... have been going down fast. but XMR have been keeping the price up at ~0.01BTC which means it actually gained value alongside bitcoin as 0.01BTC gains more and more value as bitcoin price goes up.

i am really hopeful for monero's future.

Of course XMR has a great future ahead. Soon the GUI will be out and it will help adoption by the masses, making it easier for everyone to use it.

So we can conclude that it is one of the best ? No, I wouldn't say so. Remember that the price has been plumetting after the scam exit of the Darknet markets, so it is just recovering a bit from that.

zoom out bro!

price went up starting in August, and then because it was a sudden rise and lots of other news circling Monero, the rise was speed up hence creating a bubble. and every bubble needs bursting or in other words correction. that "price plummeting" you are talking about was in fact a correction. and after the correction takes place there is always either another stable price or rise if there is more room and now that rise is taking place.

XMR price has gone up around $6 to $8.57 while every other altcoin is failing.

monero is also one of those altcoins that have been around for a very long time, for this simple reason i have always had a lot more trust in monero than i had in any of the new coins no matter how loud they are.

I'm surprised the news about the GUI hasn't created more of an effect.
Either enough people don't know yet, or we won't see a bump until its actually released.
(Or I'm greatly over-estimating the value of an official Monero GUI.)

I think that you are overestimating it.
The people that has Monero and want to use it already got used either with the command line application, either MyMonero, either some of the 3rd party wallets (which I don't really know how many do actually still work).
While a GUI wallet is handy especially for the newcomers, at this stage it doesn't matter much anymore. Monero has proven its place with or without that wallet.

Soon ? we're going on 3 years of the coin ..with no GUI  :D

Command line ? LOL
Yeah.. that really inspires adoption with the public hahhahaha

altcoins have never been for "public" adoption. they are mostly for pump and dumps and people making money or sometimes you find some new features like the anonymity that Monero is offering which seems interesting but never is for average Joes to use.

that is why a GUI is not really a big deal but also it can help be of little help.

It's accepted that Monero doesn't scale as well as Bitcoin (which in its basic design doesn't scale either.)
I wonder if TumbleBit payment channels could work with Monero.

Of course its price is being kept up. It has the biggest base of radical fanboys and relentless pumpers. its actual value to society is nil but its a great moneymaker for those conning others into buying it.

You're describing Ethereum.

Actually Ethereum did in 6 months what Monero will never do: be sold at Coinbase. I don't use Ethereum or care about it but I do know its already far more popular than Monero will ever be. I also don't care for the Monero pump squad. Probably the most dishonest collective of thieves on this board.

Yeah, Monero is profitable to mine and by early January I will switch from ethereum to Monero or Zcash, I'm looking to setup a solar panel and an inverter.

The one thing you value is something the Ethereum pump squad managed? And then you continue to shit on Monero because... it's not pumped as high as Ethereum? And finish with senseless bashing? Nice going.

The future of Monero lies in the fact that how much people are going to purchase things in the dark market .If more sites starts accepting Monero then the price of the coin stays and i hope its better than Zcash and more market penetration than Zcash.

LOL, you made my day, bro. Is monero the official dark marketplace cryptocurrency? It's already better than zcash now. And at least it wasn't getting lost hyped from 3k btc to below 0.1 that's fuckin bullshit ever I saw.
This is GUI waves.

I think zcash has some tricks up their sleeve.

I think zcash has some tricks up their sleeve.

  • trusted setup that can't be trusted
  • impossible to check total coinsupply
  • company behind Zcash taxes 20% of mining revenue during first 4 years
  • optional anonimity (while default anonimity is much better)
  • very young cryptography, not peerreviewed well
  • ...

So chances are Coinbase will accept Monero as their personal anon. coin?
