Title: Is this helpful?
Post by: the founder on April 10, 2013, 04:01:40 PM
In my never ending quest to provide metrics that I believe people will need.  I added this:

Bitcoin Exchange Spread = $7.38

It's simply the average spread between the exchanges,   Recently with the massive fluctuations in price (generally big increases)  I have seen CampBX , MtGox and others trading several dollars away from each other.

Earlier today the spread was nearly 9 dollars.   Which means that people were buying bitcoins (at the time) 9 dollars cheaper on CampBX than they were at Mt.Gox (vice versa,  people were getting paid 9 dollars more on MtGox than they were at CampBX).

Please tell me if this is helpful.

Absolutely, many are interested in the prospect of arbitrage. That metric certainly is of interest to me.
