Title: Seed and imported addresses Post by: Orangina on December 23, 2016, 09:31:27 AM If I import an address to my electrum wallet , and assuming that I already wrote the seed down on a piece of paper. Will I be able to restore the wallet with the imported address included ? If I can't then what I can do to be able to do so ?

Even if that's possible and I missed it, the seed contains fixed number of addresses. So restoring won't restore your imported addresses. You stand correct , I was searching on electrum documentations and It looks like It's impossible and I should sweep private keys instead. Can I create multiple wallets and while starting electrum , I can choose between them which one I want to run ? Just go to File > New/Restore to create new wallet or File > Open to open other wallet files. Electrum will need to connect to the servers to get all the transactions data of the address you're trying to sweep so no, you can't do it offline. It should be safe unless you have a malware in your PC. It can't be done on an offline computer. But it can be done in a watch-only wallet on an online computer. So the private key of the target address can be on an offline PC. The private key you are sweeping would still be exposed though. |
