Title: Altcoins worth investing
Post by: razoor on December 23, 2016, 10:59:51 AM
How do you guys select the ones with the potential?
What sites do you check?
What are your criteria?
Do you have some system?

I believe you have incentive to share this information because more of us invest in one coin, more the price is. :)

All altcoins are invest at your own risk,so any recommendations that you're going to get from this thread consider this investment with risk, the only profitable altcoins now are those listed in the top 10 in the coinmarketcap, there were a lot of new coin, but you should use your own judgment if you're going to invest here.

If you ask me Burstcoin is a good invesment.Icobid CGC project and Victoriouscoin are promising coin this 2017.

In any cryptocurrency, be it Bitcoin or altcoin, always exercise caution. There is always a risk when investing in anything.
If you want to find a coin worth investing, check its previous performance and how it holds up during large fluctuations.

right now if you want to invest in any of the altcoins i suggest waiting a while because it is not a good time in altcoin market and prices are falling fast.
but after this period:

What sites do you check?

mostly i check the charts on the exchange! but apart from that i check bitcointalk and coinmarketcap for additional info.

a coin that has enough volume everyday, and sometimes if the project has some interesting features that may sound interesting to me.

bitbay but do your own research first... anyone can claim anything on here and with btc on this bullrun it is hard to choose an alt now worth going in on. most are crashing hard against BTC

I notice LTC lit up today. not saying thats a good one but to me it is undervalued at this point and could start tracking btc or maybe not.

Burstcoin (BURST) and DASH for me.

BURST - undervalued, unique mining (hdd), strong and growing community, strong dev team, and interest really picking up the last 4 - 6 months.

DASH - like as sort of a compliment to BTC.  Went back and forth between dash and monero, but currently only in dash.

Are we talking about totally new projects or existing coins with the best potential to be the best investment in 2017?

Existing coins which you may consider:

MaidSafeCoin - very interesting project, just wait for developers to finally deliver something more than an alpha version,
Antshares - Chinese Ethereum, this project may be backed by Chinese manpower and numbers - expect something big
Zcash - coins with unrealistic expectations, and I still don't like their distribution system with huge 20% tax - but it has potential and recent HUGE pump shows that Zcash may be a sleeping giant.

First is the problem the project is trying to solve.
The calibre of developers behind the project are they public people that their profile can be verified.
The escrow to hold the ICO fund

These two site can help icocountdown.com and ico-list.com

True for maidsafe! This will be top shit when they lounch it!
Also zcash is good dev coin but worth maxx 5-10$ ! And this 20% tax no way! Its like other have premine! Premine problem but 20% next 4 years not a problrm omfg!
Zcash will lost! Better alts coming! Even now dash offer it 👍🏼🏆

Some people mentioned Dash - for me it is somewhat controversial choice, because this coin is known to be dominated by a small number of large whales.
But after looking at their ecosystem I have to say that this system is effective in funding core development and building awareness of this coin.

And the main point which is making Dash so interesting is huge upgrade called Evolution set for release at some point in 2017 -
the best part of this update will be new "wallet system" - users will be able to create accounts and log in to their wallet from any device, directly to the Dash network.

Expect Dash price to soar after Evolution will be released.

there really isn't a magical answer to your questions that you ask here that can help you 100% of the time and help with 100% certainty. the best you can get is always less than 10% :D

and to be honest i am mostly looking for some kind of news around the internet that may lead to a pump and other times i am investing in good altcoins that have either potential like litecoin and monero or trade the pump and dump coins like etehreum short term for profit.

but my main investment is always going to be bitcoin.

Some of altcoin are worth investing your money if you do convert your money into bitcoin currency you did the right decission. If you want to check which altcoin has potential to grow always follow there update on facebook/twitter they always updating there by posting or by updating there own thread here in bitcointalk. NOTE : not all altcoins are really worth some of them are just trippin and trying to scam people.

You just need experience to learn it. It is not easy to just say because there is many things to consider. Every coin has unique parameters and design. Everyone seems to have their own opinion on what is good, that's why there is so many coins out there. A coin for every option basically. One single coin for everyone to accept is just not possible IMO. Keep in mind how long a coin has existed too. Some are launched very recently and there isn't a good history on them, and haven't played out proving a test of time so be careful. Hundreds of coins have come and gone.

They're all pretty much just as awful as the next coin, and if you buy any of them you're straight up gambling.  Why?  Because most of them have no reason to--and should not--exist.  You are betting on the next sucker thinking he's getting in early or whatever.  The key word is betting.  You think anyone is going to be holding 1337 or CLINT or any of these crapcoins in even 5 years?  Yeah, didn't think so.

You can check out ADCN (asiadigicoin) . It was launched in Feb this year and its price is going up constantly.
Burst Coin you can mine with your own PC.You can easily exchange it for bitcoins. Other coin is flash coin. I personally support that because I think it has the potential to grow in this digital era. You can check out all the above coins.

The big question is if they would give a refund ;D Looking on Spectrecoin i could say that this coin have a potential but i wont rely on it too much and i wont invest on their ICO. Im done on this ICO and dont tend to put up money again on any coin would do have it and maybe i would just wait for 1 month after its release and would see if this coin would done well.

If people are buying more into ETH then we should see some rising in price, I need to admit that Iconomi had a nice growth in last month and will rise even more imo as we approach the dividends date which is in 2017.
ByteBall is something that requires some more attentions.
DASH and MONERO are going upward in price unlike ETH.
LTC is also rising.

Well. I will go for top altcoins in the market like xmr, ethereum, litecoin or dogecoin. These are good altcoins. I dont want to spend my money on new announced altcoins because its too risky because some of the are just shitcoins. Just taking precautionary measure because i dont want want to lose my money easily.

First, I check the price on some exchanges such as bittrex, Poloniex, shape-shift, etc.
Find out what the idea/read the white paper, what something new and better offered to user since bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency so far and still develop according to the market.
And then, from the charts price in the last 1-2 years and conclude the idea which lead to the future usability and demand of the coins, that's how I choose one.

There are a lot of alt coins that are worth to invest I would say that ICN is a good one and KMD. And for those alt coins that are already in the market for a long time ago, DASH is a good one to invest your money. Just make sure that before you are going to invest that there is a good coinmarketcap already and a lot of people have good reviews for it.

I always check if their project is potential, achievable, and realistic. And usually if there is an ico I always participate as an investors as long as the price is cheap I buy it then after the campaign I still buying it because I believe it will increase and most often there is pump and dump. Which means our investment will be double and up.

You'd have to read the details of the project. Most of the time there are users who will ask questions and those are the users who probably understands the project more than you do and so you get to check the developers response to those questions.  Other than that you're going to want to see whether the ICO is also being escrow by someone because you do not want to be scammed. That is the worse thing that could happen, you can't get even with those scammers.

Most of these Altcoins are pump and dump games being played by the dev and his cohorts, why is everyone trying to enrich themselves through all foul means. For me I look at the rankings of the Altcoin before I consider a penny on it. Most of them don't have a clear cut roadmap so they die right after the ICO. So guys just trust the first 10 ranked Altcoins and discard the others-just a personal principle.

Many of them are are still active but with very poor prices, and with active development, but members here are mostly traders and speculators and they love to invest short term. So we have ICO as model of success for everybody. More chances are for coin such as Monero and Dash to go down, just wait for BTC to jump over 1k again and then you will see , they are all the same..

Those who holds Monero or DASH will also be jumping back to BTC as usual and then buy back their altcoins when BTC start to be dumped again, its always been the cycle. ICOs are easy money for short term investors but there are also good ones like ICN. I think Chronobank will also perform well when the development continues for the freelancers.

This Chronobank project looks awesome also but this will be classical PnD because period from collecting ICO funds and starting is too long. I remember how Lisk was cruelly used by Yobit, and their  malversation with tokens with same name backed with their promises to pay.. Huh this can happened to every ICO project.
Best not to keep all eggs in one basket, at least this advice is a proved truth!

Well since then that's how ICO works. Roadmap is just a design and continuous development after the ICO ends depends on the output price that will established when they are listed on the exchanges. If price goes on a surge then the development will continue while on the other hand, if it's a failed one then RIP. Also it's 100% manipulated.

Yes I also trust those top 10 especially NEM. Look at the price of it really a cheap one and I think for more years it still on cheap price but by looking at their development, this will be a big surprise in the altcoin world in the near future. Patience is the key.

These are the same questions I ask myself but most times even the most active threads of Alt coming in with lot of publicity and noises coupled with enough endorsements here and there have turned out to be shit coins so I guess we are both in the same shoe but I think the best way to go about it is just to follow your mind and know the right time to dump because nothing in this past few months in alt has worth holding long-term...

buy coins with proper tec behind them!

You should look into Bitbay! David Zimbeck is crypto's Bill Gates. He's created BitHalo, NightTrader, 1st true decentralised market, crypto's only double deposit smart contracts (trustless), cold staking and pay via email.
Bitbay is his coin and will explode once he has finished created another crypto 1st which is a rolling peg. All to be finished within 2 months.

I'm expecting big gains once the rolling peg is implemented.
Everyone will jump into bitbay to hold onto their assists during dumps. It's going to be huge!

It's going to be a huge thing! All the investment companies that deal with Bitcoin will be buying bitbay for this reason! We are talking possible billions of dollars

It is your wish to buy altcoin or not because at present situation altcoin is completely based on bitcoin, when the bitcoin price automatically the price of altcoin keep reduce. If you are good at trading than you will make good profits with altcoin otherwise stay away from it, you will find all updates of concerned altcoin in coinmarketcap.com and you can follow their thread.

I'd say have a look at Nexus (NXS). Basically, bitcoins on space and a lot of interesting features (sat cubes, reversible transactions, SHA3, etc.).  The head dev is son of Jim Cantrell, CEO of Vector Space Systems, so space is no joke.

How do you guys select the ones with the potential?
What sites do you check?
What are your criteria?
Do you have some system?

I believe you have incentive to share this information because more of us invest in one coin, more the price is. :)

There's a lot of altcoins  here were you can choose to invest in, aside from that the things I can suggest you to invest in was Try ICOBID here is the ann thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1605034.0 you can read the specification together with their features program.

Maybe now there is not enough room for so much, but no one seems to care, Many take the opportunity to launch coins for the sole purpose to obtain BTC easily, others succumb to the lack of interest, so this question can not be answered objectively. Maybe in a couple of years someone will see the picture a little clearer, who knows.

All altcoins are invest at your own risk,so any recommendations that you're going to get from this thread consider this investment with risk, the only profitable altcoins now are those listed in the top 10 in the coinmarketcap, there were a lot of new coin, but you should use your own judgment if you're going to invest here.

True that all altcoins are invest at your own risk. And we have our own bet choice of altcoins were we can also recommend to others too. Just like what you are recommending here victoriouscoin, icobid, for you these alts are promising, And I understand that things because you are in cryptohub, that's normal. Besides these alts of yours are really promising, due to that I'm also one their investors too.

IOTA is the best altcoin to look into IMO.

Directed acyclic graph, no transaction fees, scalability such that transactions become faster the more people that use the system, and some VERY serious people on their foundation. It will skyrocket once it hits exchanges.

Buy when alts falling and wait Bitcoin to styop rise. This is my recipe, but chose very wisely in wich coin you are going to invest!

Saying the truth there are many altcoins in the market than ever and it's hard to decide which one can be successful and which one can not, from the charts I see that many coins have their own pump and dump which most of the time is because of their developers or their team and sometimes it happens because of the bitcoin price.

That's the equilibrium of crypto currency. When bitcoin is rising, alt coins are falling but as of now I can say that bitcoin is rising again and forcing itself coming back to $1,000. There are some good alt coins right now that was just launched last year and I can say that ICN, LTC, Maidsafe and DOGE. Although ETH is still good but it's more better to invest with those who are in the lower list of coinmarketcap.

Only problem with doge there no limit on the amount of coins that can be created .Kinda means there going to be no explosive in price only a steady rise .ICN is interesting like a henge fund for cryto currency .Just looked it up now .Might but some next chance i get .I think Litecoin has run it course  now that there better coins out there .It the exact same as bitcoin only more coins to distribute  . MAidsafe is either going to go bust are make it really big .No two ways about it .That where most of my spare  bitcoin money  going .It has not has any pump and dump scheme yet and  it be pretty steady .I feel that the most promising but different people have different opinions

- ICN - it is hard to say how this project will shape itself, after initial very positive response devs need to continue their work.
- LTC - coin overshadowed by Bitcoin, if you can buy BTC then why buy LTC instead? Wait and see if LTC will be test ground for SegWit, if that happens price might go up.
- Maidsafe - "Soon™" type of a coin. Forever in alpha stage, if devs will one day deliver what they promised it should be be great show.
- DOGE - created as a joke coin and forever will be stigmatized as joke project.
- ETH - I think that boom for daaps is not that visible anymore...

Altcoin are riskier than bitcoin so make sure that you prepare yourself to face the worst

Usually I'm seeking altcoin that have long term life and have massive community support so it will affect it's price
For example : I'm invest on doge which already made me profit 0.05 at the moment

Risk is in all, it depends how you look them. For example earlier no one would care about buying bitcoin when it's price was cents but now it's popular and mostly usable crypto currency. Well bitcoin isn't altcoin but take care about etherium, if we would invest money in this coin when it's price was very low, we would have more than 10x profit and much higher.
And what razoor asks, to my mind you can't guess which altcoin will become popular, you need some luck and instics for this, also you have to see hopes in it to trust growing of altcoin's price.

As long as developers are devoted to the project and they will continue working on it, then of course, there is a high chance to push this coin out of alpha.
MaidSafeCoin is an ambitious project, the amount of work needed to be done is huge, it is better that they are making sure it works.
We don't want fast release of something which can become another DAO.

If everyone will go for a single altcoin with planned already then it would be pumping .
But if most of the people will go for the particular altcoin then it would be the real power of the coin .
So here that altcoin give best profit for its fluctuations , if altcoin is popular and famouse and everyone knows about that .
Otherwise you can invest in any coin like  any coin with rate of 1 satoshi .
So investing in the altcoin , which us a part of trading , probably give you profit , So it is worth for investing in altcoin .

Search for an exchanger like Poloniex. Transfer your BTC to the Polo balance and start trading. That's the start. You have to learn to read the charts before jump into a trade. You can take a look at my signature, that's a service who helps you to make money with trading. It sends a signal when a pump is coming.

Example:
You have .6BTC. You invest 0.5 to Poloniex and 0.1 in the service.
The service gives you a buy signal. Set your 0.5BTC and make a sell order for 0.5125BTC. It's 2.5% profit. If you do this only 1x every 60 days you have earned 0.75BTC.

I believe you have incentive to share this information because more of us invest in one coin, more the price is. :)

I am working on a model/method for quantifying this type of evaluation. It will turn into a whitepaper eventually but the first thing you need to decide is how you are trying to invest in coins, e.g. short term or long term. Even that decision is riddled with controversy.

People's motives for trading are very different so their motives for sharing information will also be as varied.

But, LEOcoin has a stable (and rising) price and a 20% interest with Proof of Stake, if you hold 50k.

There's even if the price drops 18% over 12months you're way ahead of your bank account.

There's even if the price drops 18% over 12months you're way ahead of your bank account.

bullshit! Leocoin is a massive ponzi MLM scam with leaders earning real fiat money and running away
tell me, why Atif Kamran left? who's next?

Which words did I say that were incorrect.

Try it, buy 1000LEOcoin on Livecoin or whatever exchange, stake the coin in your wallet and sell the interest on Livecoin

Where we can even invest in this altcoins?
Just yesterday I bought my first altcoin. It was ether and I decided to buy one after watching a nice video on youtube with a guy explaining the difference between btc and eth. To invest in some altcoin you have to create a wallet firstly. Then you take your wallet's adress and go to some exchange website. I used this one: https://www.changer.com/exchange/ethereum-to-bitcoin. Then you send some amount to an adress they tell you with btc and recieve eth within 5 minutes or so. Fast, easy and with no registration needed.

Few alt that i'm invested and holding for long term:

Decred (DCR)
Stratis (STRAT)
Nexus (NXS)
Nexium (NXC)
GameCredits (GAME)
NEM (XEM)
I/O (IOC)
BitBay (BAY)
Huntercoin (HUC) - Going to swap it to Chimera

I think those coins have huge potential and pretty confident about those for the future.
I prefer to hodl than trading those coins, most of the time i tried to trade, i ended up losing. So, i just hodl and buying more on the dip for those.

I'm watching few low marketcap coins also right now but havent decided which one im going to buy.

Yup ethereum classic is good for investments long time the growing slow but sure to be more better
and for short time investing (trading altcoins for getting daily, weekly or monthly income)
ethereum is good choice because the movement of price is good for trading.

GAME is going to be massive.  They are launching an android app game store with over 300 games next month and expecting to have over 1000 games by the end of the year.  GAME is the currency for payment within the store and they have developed an API allowing for in game items to be purchased with GAME in many of the games. They will be releasing the list of games that will be in the store for the launch in coming days.

Added to that, they are having an ICO for their new token MobileGo starting on April 25th.  MobileGo will be smart-contract enabled, allowing for gamers in the store to have decentralised gaming tournaments.  Half the funds raised in the MobieGo ICO will go to marketing the GameCredits Store.

Check out the beautiful web wallet for GameCredits https://wallet.gamecredits.com.  Notice it is complete with in-wallet payment gateways from major credits cards.

There are hundreds of devs involved and they have offices in multiple countries.

GAME and MobileGo is where I am placing my bets for the next few years.

I bought bitcoin at $14 (thought I'd state my 'qualifications').

Is ETC a good investment? Please don't give me a joke dude. Do you think if the forked coin can become a good place for the investment? i can say no!!. i strongly disagree and you can see how are long gaps between the real ethereum and the ethereum classic in this day. ETH is always be the number one of the altcoin which mean ETC is not good investment and never worthy to be listed on the good altcoin in this day.

Of course yes  ethereum classic is good place for long term investments, if ETC is never worth why there are people many make investments into ETC? do you know about the original blockchain of ethereum before the DAO bailout hard forked? What are you talking about the forked coin ETC or ETH, all of people know forked coin is ETH  ;D

The market cap is quite large now, in the contrary, I think it is overvalued, although ripple's last ATH was double and half times of current market cap.

I normally like pos coins so I pick them. I look for nice coins to mine without needing a huge mining farm so CPU coins. Or I rent hashes from miningrentals.com

Coins with early adoption bonus are what I like. Also I must like the coin design and name. Also an active Dev is very important for me.
