Title: Bitcoin's best alternative
Post by: CryptoFlare on December 25, 2016, 03:33:27 AM
Well guys.. If bitcoin dies tomorrow because of such a high rate or any other reason .. Which is the best altcoin will the person switch to first?  This means the altcoin in which the population will more likely to invest on??

Well, if bitcoin die you will not be able to invest BTC, cause it will cost nothing.
The only option people will have is to invest USD, but no one would do it, after they lose everything in bitcoin (think price goes from $800 to $0).

So the answer to your question is: people will lost faith in crypto and there will be no other altcoin which will take btc-s place  ::)

Well, if bitcoin dies tommorow. Then one altcoin must stand to take place bitcoin. Theres a lot of potential altcoin that are existing in the market. Maybe the top crypto like litecoin has a possibilty to take place bitcoin because its still strong.

I don't think that Bitcoin will die, but Monero has a good shot of being number two by market cap. If Bitcoin suffers a catastrophic failure, then Monero would probably be number one.

I just got into crypto and I've purchased $5,500 of monero. I am looking at things objectively and as an American and a libertarian, monero is ideal for multiple reasons. I didn't  have a dog in this fight until 4 weeks ago so if a better coin came around I'd admit it. Nothing comes close to monero. All the rest are scam coins.

If bitcoin dies we don't have an alternative. The market will split between many alt coins. After some time the rich guys would choose an alt coin to replace bitcoin, that one would be the alternative, because everybody would start using it.
Few guys would choose it and the most public just would follow their chooses. A way to impose the new alt coin can be pump its price, use it to pay persons for tasks and jobs.

If tomorrow bitcoin dies, all the altcoins will die together, or in other words, bitcoin will be the last to die in this space. This is because bitcoin have received wide adoptions and have huge interest groups to support. So it will be the last to die.

Bitcoin's failure is inevitable: as soon as a Chinese dissident smuggles money out of the country and the Chinese government goes to the 3 biggest miners in china that make up like 70% of the network and tells them to censor the transaction or we are going to hang you and your children, the transaction will be censored. You've been warned.

I agree the statement that bitcoin will be the last cybercoin to die. All other coins will die first before the bitcoins. Because there's no coin with so much support for bitcoin. People invested billions into bitcoin and will not let it die easily.

I cant see any altcoin that would be the best alternative when bitcoin dies because all of altcoin will surely die too because we all know that most altcoin nowadays are dependent on bitcoin itself regarding on its value. If we say that bitcoin dies then all of them would die too so this means theres no alternative but seeing on the current state of bitcoin its somehow hard to believe that bitcoin will die now.

you know what the problem with your question is?

you are asking something without giving it any thought. what would be the reason for bitcoin dying? high rate? doesn't even make sense!
something else? what? why did it cause that?

i have been seeing this question as long as i have been on this forum and using bitcoin. and what you all forget is that when bitcoin dies (for whatever imaginary reason you have in mind) altcoins are going to disappear even before bitcoin hypothetically goes down.

short answer to your question is none!

well its kind of hard answer the question because there are different people investing in different coin, but when bitcoin is dead most of the crypto currency will also dead, the trust on crypto currencies is depends on bitcoin, so if anything happen to bitcoin there will be no investor dare to invest in other crypto currencies

I do agree! IF bitcoin will be dead altcoins will follow because all of the altcoins and bitcoin is related sort of bitcoin is the mother of all altcoins so there is no way. Investor will now invest anymore in any coin because bitcoin is dead and it is useless to invest to other.

There are a lot of bitcoin clone in the market right now,but I'll consider Burstcoin, it is cpu mined and there have a huge community right now, some of the altcoins in the market right now are niche targeted, burstcoin is not targeting any niche or industry .

Some people say ETH and now recently some are saying XMR but really the altcoin that has survived with bitcoin is litecoin, it's not good as bitcoin or some of the others alt coins currently circulating but most of them just die out in few months. So personally I think litecoin is good alternative.

Lite coin is bitcoin lite version, about the SegWit implementation, was following bitcoin. Maybe I wasn't making sense for me especially consider some factor, but that's enough for me to say it was becoming the junior version of bitcoin. and I'd agreed with you.

if bitcoin dies altcoins die with it too. and most of them are already dead anyways and some others that aren't yet dead have been made with the only one purpose of making more bitcoin from pump and dump.

eth: full of bugs and it is manipulated, and it is pump and dump
ltc: it is always pump and dump and it is copy of bitcoin
xmr: can be the best option, although it doesn't seem to be able to become as big.

there's no consensus about that.
a few members will say LTC/XMR/DASH, others will say ETH/ETC, others will tell about a minor altcoins.

just search about the projects, see what you like and drop some bitcoins on it. there are some good altcoins around here but it's impossible to predict which one will succeed bitcoin(if ever happen).

Actually the altcoin economy is very dynamic and is in continuous evolution. I have no doubt that if bitcoin dies we would see a temporal silence, a pause in the altcoin economy and perhaps the death of the bitcoin would destroy the faith of many people in the altcoins and many of them also would die, but in few months we would see a renewed dynamism and better altcoins because new developers would try to learn from the numerous errors observed in the failed experience of the died bitcoin to avoid them in their future alternatives.

First of all it is impossible that bitcoin will or can die because of a high rate but with high rate the value of bitcoin increases more.
secondly, If a time come when we will see bitcoin to die then we will not believe on any other crypto currency because we know that bitcoin is most powerful currency and if a most powerful currency can die then why not others.

In other words you can also say that If bitcoin dies which is a free technology and not owned by any one developer but it is used freely by any one and if it dies then i think the whole crypto currency world will dies because the whole technology is based on Bitcoin and when bitcoin can die then do you think that other coin will sustain it. So it is useless to speak about it because bitcoin death is the whole crypto currency death and no other any currency can sustain

if and if bitcoin dies the whole crypto market will crash and I think all alts will worth zero
alt coins are nothing when we compare them with btc especially in the market cap , so if you are thinking to buy an alt just in case bitcoin died then don't do it and keep your money in btc

There have been threads about this specific thing, and it seems to be the consensus that if bitcoin fails, altcoins don't stand a chance.  Why would they?  None of them have any significant advantages (as far as I can see) over btc.  The death of bitcoin would be the death of crypto.  End of story.

The decider would be volume. :)

More people would probably switch to the coin with second highest natural volume. Litecoin would also see huge inflows.

Since Litecoin has the widest circulation it would probably step in.  Also depends on why bitcoin died I guess.

If bitcoin dies... Uhmm.. Its very hard to imagine but if ever this will happen, i think litecoin, xmr kr dogecoin are good alternatives for bitcoin. I cant say they are the best but these are doing just fine in the market. Maybe the one that can take place of the bitcoin is hasnt born yet.

Honestly though when you think about it there is no real alternative to bitcoin and I don't see why people try to even invest in anything but bitcoin?
Whenever any cryptocurrency had more than $5b marketcapital you could certainly depend on it and switch your funds and hash power.
ETH was rising above $1b but sadly now has only $600m marketcap.

That's something very unlikely to happen. Some of the reasons you pointed out probably would not be enough to cause such an event. Considering the fact that Bitcoin has increased significantly in value in recent months, the fees are a bit high, in fact, but only in relation to small transactions. For larger amounts, fees are relatively low. Either way, I think this is something that can be adjusted without major complications.

But to answer your question, people would look for something more conservative and similar to Bitcoin, so I think that the currency with greatest potential to replace Bitcoin, in case of a catastrophe, would be Litecoin due to the fair distribution and some improvements. And it looks like they will try to improve anonymity.
Soon after, Monero could be a good one, due to improvements that allow anonymous transactions, and active community, of course.

I'd say Doge, because it is super easy for the layperson to understand, no decimals etc, just whole coins. Very low fees to send and quick to confirm.

I also like Steem because no fee at all to send, confirms very quickly and the wallet is online on the steemit site, so no huge blockchains to download on your computer only to find your laptop has crashed and you've lost them all.

I think crypto world with the crypto currencies will be imbalanced 'coz of BTC Dying/Died. No other alternative coins can outmatch or compete with BTC. Some said it is TBC, but TBC is already a scam, only nigerian is buying high value TBC thats why they said it is like BTC. But that's a lie there is no exchanger for TBC, how come it is like BTC? TBC is a scam that's why it will not outmatch BTC's value.

Altcoins will probably be worthless if the value of Bitcoin drops to nothing.

I'd say that ETH would be a good coin as it is doing quite well price-wise considering the recent hacks and hard forking that has been going on with that coin.
One of the originals would be the best to use such as LTC or Doge as they are the most similar to Bitcoin so will be adopted in a similar way.
