Just a wild guess but it could have been ghash, they had 51% of the hash power in 2013 and mined hundreds of thousands of bitcoins.

Probably a pool or an exchange. Sometimes searching the address on Google or WalletExplorer may yield some results.

I would bet that numbers also 95 - 100 belong to the same person.  ;D

I like the number 6, this address has a nice amount of incoming transactions - 20 892, this guy is a real saver! :D

If this is the case, I guess we can't blame them, it has rained in quite a few places so far...

I imagine those 8 (it looks that nr. 10 doesn't belong to the set) pieces of paper securely hidden in a huge metal safe. ;D

..or, how do you actually think these whales store their savings?  ;)

I heard some people saying they belong to the so-called Satoshi Nakamoto, but really nobody knows except the owner itself. That's a lot of money stored in there, and imagine how much it could turn into if one Bitcoin really gets to $1.000.000 per BTC.. 100.000BTC would be $100 BILLION dollars. Insane, but real....

Not sure but definitely all of them should be early adopters. I doubt that they have bought the coins. They probably mined the coins at an early stage and then dumped a few(aka a few thousand), and kept the rest in cold storage.

Or they could have bought a shit ton and accumulated since the beginning, if they are not miners.

Government could be another guess.

It could be Donald Trump for all we know, I do think that Trump being tbe business man he is would have a good amount tucked away.  As for these top ones they could pools, friends of Satoshi even.

looks like it could be a government or a financial consortium that has been quietly accumulating  up a few thousand btc a week since 2013 ..........the wallets in question have loads of deposits but zero withdrawls

a very nice stash indeed!

Maybe those are the Chinese Miners. They have been hoarding a large part of their mining shares and even declared that bitcoin will reach 1 million dollars each. Could this be the reason of their statement. Anyway this is just my opinion not a factual statement. But who else can do that except the Chinese who owns giant mining farms in the world. The only way they could replace the US currency is through holding large amount of bitcoins.

If a wallet is from 2010, then it's from a small subset of people - Satoshi, Gavin Andresen, a handful of others. I think I had one in late 2010, but it never had more than a fraction of one BTC in it!

If it is from 2013 on, then it is either a big mining pool, a hedge fund, or a major exchange.

The 7-15 list may be Winklevoss twins.

I don't know who those people behind those address, but that is a lot in bitcoin stored. Probably early adopters who have the chance to mine when it was easy or some exchange with a lot of hashing power.

But to tell you the truth I don' have any idea ;)

I do not think those addresses belongs to Satoshi probably the owners are exchanges or some big whale accumulating coins like there is no tomorrow, and about the price I don't think bitcoin will reach such a huge price anytime soon.

one interesting thing about these address that i would like to point out is that despite them having a very huge balance that makes your head spin they only own a very small percentage of bitcoins! for example the first one is only 0.7% and the rest from 0.4% down.

I am curious how large Roger Ver's Bitcoin savings is. Is he still a part of the "Bitcoin Elite"? I ask this because I feel he might dump all his coins and support something else or he kight retire entirely in the future if he does not get his way in the battle with the Core developers.

Most of those address seem inactive since one year so may be it belong to some mining farms who are holing bitcoin for longer term. But hard to find out who hold those addresses and also it is possible that not all those addresses belong to same person even all of them have similar amount of bitcoin..

I think so, at one time it was thought that he had over 500K btc. I cant imagine him selling them all or even close to all of them.
