Title: Gambling for Charity Donation
Post by: BlockEye on December 29, 2016, 01:58:16 AM
Is there any user here that donates on charity whenever he wins on gambling? Is the money earned on gambling is good for donation?
This question is always banging on my head because i won lately on gambling and i want to share my earnings for those people in charity but i'm just worried if my money is worth it to be donated because it came from gambling. I need some advice. thanks

note: I will closed this thread once i got good advice. thanks!

Why would the money not be worth it?

Even if the money came from murdered people, it would still be better off putting food on someones table other than sitting in your pocket

If you're willing to give the money, definitely do so, it will help some people

Very noble of you  :)

I would like to try to donate some of my very modest gambling wins but I am very skeptical about Bitcoin charity options. I am not sure if there is real charity organisation accepting bitcoins.
After some research I learned that you can donate money to Wikipedia Foundation - they even have refund option (very rare, usually bitcoin transfers are not refundable)

You can donate to Wikipedia here: https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Ways_to_Give#bitcoin (https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Ways_to_Give#bitcoin)

If your intention came from a good faith that you have inside your heart to share your earnings theres no wrong about it mate as long as you are doing it to feed someone and to let them survive on that day, and besides i guess empty stomach wont ask anymore if where the money came from or whats the reason behind sharing it.

I believe this could be legit:

I believe https://www.givedirectly.org/ has also started accepting bitcoin

BitGive would need more research from me

This guy already did it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qrBAPiGiYY  ;D

He used his earnings in BTCs to feed the hobos. He is a gambler. To make a donation you don't need to send the money to a site, organization or something like that. Just look in your city for someone that needs help, orphanage, something like that...

i'm just concerned and feel guilt if those poor children use the money that earned in my gambling profit for their food and needs without knowing where it came from.
I read some article on news paper that says that a money earns on illegal way is not good for donation. Just like trees that have a bad roots and of course the fruit that it will bear is bad also.

Is that actually a noble act? :)

I already separated a portion of my bitcoin for donation just waiting for a good advice.  ;D

It doesn't matter where/how the donation came from, all is matters that donation money used only for welfare of the poor/needy. a lot of hackers have donate hacked money to charity, like this one.

Haven't tried cause I have never win a huge amount of money through it .

I think its good cause why it is not? It's not like you take it illegally and your intention is what matters the most . You want to help so its great .

The general people might have a negative opinion about gambling but it depends on how you use it as long as you're not abusing it and yourself then I don't see anything wrong .

Just a word of advice . Pick carefully of what charity you want to invest on make sure that its legit

For me, it is not suited to donate because I think gambling is a game of money, or to my gambling was not good enough to be used as a source of cash income. If you want to donate, charity should use the money you get from the other way better. Or I could say the money you get from gambling is dirty money. Not all the money you get is good money. This is all just my opinion, everyone has their own opinion.

i am not yet donate on charity from my gambling because my winning amount is too small, but i am doing this from my other source of jobs. i think the money that earned from gambling is not good for donation but if you want to help other people then don't think too much of what i am think or other people think, you only have to donate that money to charity. but for donates on charity, i think its better from the money that we earned by our hard work with clean source, i think you know what i mean.

when you want to make donate, its about you and your creator, not about other people thinking. so do it if your heart feels ok and fine, people is only could said what they though its wrong and right, but the truth of the right its in your creators hand.

I have the same thought as yours. In my opinion, giving money to charity with gambling money isnt good thing to do. Dont feed the unlucky people with "dirty" money. But, if you still want to give that money to the charity, the best solution is to ask them first whether they will accept your money or not, but you have to tell about the origin of that money.

If I've donated 30% of my winnings earlier this year. I think its a good deed to give money to charity. I dont do it always and I do it only when I reach my target and I have decent amount of money left after the charity work. I'd urge everyone to do the same. Instead of making it rain on dice, why not give it to a charity which you know will do good.

Use mixer and clean your source of fund if you are playing in bitcoin casino so what you will donate than will be clean fund. I don't think there is any terms charity have regarding source of fund, better to donate to reliable and real charity organization.

no i have never donated to any charity in my life.
i however made many donations to services that i use such as the electrum servers that i connect to and use for my wallet.

money is money, and if the charity is accepting bitcoin it doesn't matter and if you exchange it to fiat then it certainly doesn't matter.

as i said , money is money and you are overthinking this :)
just try to find a legit charity and check to see if they are really putting that money to good use or are they wasting it.

It probably would be good if very trusted sites gave the option upon winning x % of your outlay to donate to one of a handful charities. I would always donate upon winning if the option was right there infront of me.

I would say go donate something if you really won something very big! What's a few dollars to give to charity when you win something from gambling. It's easy money and giving a bit of it wouldn't hurt you. Just donate if you have extra. But, if you need it to cover some loses or pay some expenses, then save yourself first before anybody else.

I would say its not really wrong to donate even those money came from gambling as long you have the passion to donate it to charity it wont really matter since you didnt do anything illegal and that amount you gain is came from your luck and theres no bad thing involve.Dont listen to those people who said its wrong and remove the feeling of hesitations inside you.If you want to donate then do it with all your heart and without thinking twice.

I agree with these suggestions. Donating to charity is a noble act and doing so will make you feel good and enlightened. Not to mention that you can make someone happy too when you donate. But just donate what you can and don't over do it. If I did win something big, I would also donate some. It's just that I don't gamble too much. ;D

Money is always money, whether its earned in a right way or through some illegal activity. In my view these days human beings were not respected but money is given preference. Whether donating money earned from gambling or other forms, donation is always appreciable.

ahhha, I really don't know for sure what makes someone ignores the origin of the funds provided to the donation made. For if it is not done properly then everything would be one that could give a negative impact to donations ever given. As we know that it is indeed the largest donation that exists in the bitcoin is gambling, then it could be a good place for those who could contribute with correct and I hope that everything is done the right way

It is still considered as good donation and with that money you will make those people happy on that charity and that really gives a joy into your heart specially when you help someone and don't think about that money is came from gambling you should think of the thing that you could able to help them even on small ways.

Yeah right, I totally agree with you. Whatever it is, something you get from gambling is hot money, dirty money. And the hot money is not worthy to serve as a charity. What a pity those people who receive the hot money. Those who do not know anything, they are holy earn dirty money earned from gambling, money that is made to a charity should be is clean money earned from a fine and clean as well.

We have different opinion when it comes to what is right or wrong based on religion while if it's base on the existing laws, we agree on a certain idea. Donating money in a charitable institution coming from your winning from gambling is just right, we are helping in any way, the amount could feed the needy.

I see no wrong about that. And besides you gambled fairly meaning no cheat or fraud has been done to earned that money. If ever it came from illegal activites like stealing, robbery etc. then that is different story and it's hard to take that the food eaten by those people ypu helped came from take advantage of the others.

If you think you are not violating any human's sensual rights to earned the money then just keep on going.

Yes,you have a point and i agree it does really depend on views on each person its either on religion based or law but if we are talking on making good decisions it really be an acceptable action and theres nothing to worry about if that money is came from gambling the important thing is that you help people.

If you have hesitations about those charity organizations, I would say just cash out your profit in casino's and be your very own charity for that day. Walk in the streets and be the good samaritan on that day. Buy some food to eat, drinks and other gifts that you want to give to them with the certain amount you are willing to give.

Any money that you can spare is good for charity, it doesn't matter how you earned it. If it helps people help people, I say go for it.

You could do the same as people in live casinos do. If they win big in roulette (single number), they give one bet to the dealer. You could do the same, but give to charity instead. See it is a tip you would make anyway.
