Title: CPU Mining
Post by: dnox on December 29, 2016, 04:29:53 PM
Hello, im new to mining and just started mining through minergate and poloniex.
I have only my notebooks to mine a i3 and a i5 so i dont have a lot of mining power and can only do cpu mining.
The thing is that i have heard that minergate is not a good place to mine and that i should try using another miners.
Ive tried to install nicehash, claymore and a few other but none seem to work.
So i figured if anyone could post a link to a nice CPUminer with the instructions on how to setup it and start mining?

Thnaks a lot in advance.

Well first of all you shouldn't be mining with your notebook CPUs. They are usually generate a lot of heat. You can damage your notebooks if they are not cooled properly. Plus you're mining nickles and dimes every few days, is that really worth risking your notebooks for? NO.

You shouldn't mine with your notebook, especially if it is an I3 or I5, you can't match ASIC's hashrate, what you can do is trading, if you don't have enough then take a month or two and gather as much as you can using bitcoin faucets, after that you will be able to trade on the exchanges and if you are smart you will make some profits out of it.

the only good coin at the moment to mine with your cpu is monero, everything else is wasting money in electricity, why you don't take a look at the minign section? there are miner for cpu there, but i would not recomend to use them with a notebook, it will get damaged

whats a bitcoin faucet?
A faucet is a website that gives away small amounts of BTC for looking at ads and filling in CAPTCHAs, they are paid by the advertizers and give away some of their payment to users, they are good for newbies to try out bitcoin but not worth the time spent in the long term.
I made 3.3565 mBTC over several weeks at a faucet (Scratch 4 Satoshis):

I made more than that in just one week from a signature campaign:
