Title: Is there a site that indicates what exchanges are up?
Post by: dscotese on April 11, 2013, 04:10:25 PM
I suppose smaller exchanges that are popular enough may have gotten hammered by people who see no trading on MtGox, and I checked bitstamp and they are still offline.

There's a bitcoin meeting in Carlsbad, CA tonight - right around the time MtGox said they'd resume operations.  I'll be there and might still have a few hundred USD to buy bitcoins with if anyone finds they have to go that route.

Judging from volume, Bitcoin-24 is the new reference.

Thanks Grinder.

I found this page listing exchanges (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Category_talk:Exchanges) on the Wiki, but it doesn't have any indication whether or not each exchange is operating at the moment.  I don't know how to contact the folks who might be willing to let me write some code so that each bitcoin exchange can have a ping or info URL and the wiki can use it in order to show people the current state of each exchange.  I'm interested in doing that, so if anyone reading this knows whom I should contact, let me know.
